Arkansas To Hire Wisconsin's Bielema
Arkansas hired as offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and o line coach Sam Pitman from Tennessee. Pitman has a very good rep as a players coach and had a very good o line at Tennessee. Jim Chaney did a good job with the offense at Tn. They could score at will with the right QB/receivers. Both should be a plus for Arkansas. Not sure about their recruiting abilities.........................Al

College Football Conference Expansion
Bruce Pearl actually stirred up some interest in mens basketball at Tennessee for a short time a few years ago but it was short lived for reasons we all know. Womens basketball has a fairly strong following. I saw a bumper sticker about 10 years ago that read "The University of Tennessee, where the men are men and the women are champions". Although I have never given it a great deal of thought, it appears to me that football in the south is a blue collar sport and the rest of the country is white collar. Sorry I have wandered a little off topic....................Al

College Football Conference Expansion
The SEC needs to bring in a couple of basketball powerhouses since they are typically poor football schools. Easy football victories are going to get even harder to come by and no one cares about basketball wins except Vandy and Ky. Basketball just provides some revenue to the schools and entertainment for the fans while recuiting and strenght conditioning are going on during the football off season. Just jokin'......................But some truth to it....................Al

Future Governor
Peyton Manning was Tennessee's favorite son, then Indiana's and now Colorados. He is without doubt one of the best QB's of all time, if not the best and a very popular player everywhere he goes or has been. I now watch for the Denver games on TV and no longer care about the Colts. I'm a P. Manning fan regardless of the uniform and IMHO the entire Manning family is a class act.........Al

Arkansas To Hire Wisconsin's Bielema
There are a lot of new coaches in the SEC for next year and they bring a lot of experience. The problem is someone must loose a ball game every time someone else wins a game. Some of these coaches are going to loose, however an SEC game is going to be even toughter to win. The easy game just is not going to be there like in the past. Look at Vanderbuilt now, and Kentucky may not be a pushover either...............If you have a good record in this conference you have earned some recognition..........GO VOLS.............Al

Hair Jig For This Winter.
I fish hair jigs year round in East Tennessee, although not many fishermen fish them in the warmer months here. The winter bites are hard to detect and I highly recommend you be a line watcher and fish slower than ever before. OE gave good advice on the weed guard, I remove them for cold water fishing. I also use long hair no trailer in winter................Al

There is so much talk locally of John Gruden that now the local TV news calls them "grumors" instead of rumors. The rumor mill is now saying a news conference will be called next Friday Dec. 7th. I still like the idea of John Chavais for Tennessee but the AD wants head coaching experience so that rules out Chavais. Jeff I would not be disappointed if you are correct.....We'll see in the next couple of weeks.......Al

An Idea For You Guys Who Ship Rods In The Mail
I work at BPS part time and have given away many of the shipping tubes(card board) they use for the rods coming to the stores. If you live near a sporting goods store that sells rods you may want to ask if they have any they would give away. You might be surprised. BPS throws them away because shipping cost more than replacing. I have personally given away dozens................Al

Another name I keep hearing in the local rumor mill for the new UT head coach is Jimbo Fisher from Florida State. Who knows? The arguement for John Gruden is pretty convincing: 1. His wife is from Knoxville and her family is here 2. She was a cheerleader at UT 3. He was a Grad assistant at UT 4. They currently own land in Dandridge, TN 5. The owner of the Browns is from Knoxville, a huge UT supporter, and is rumored to have offered Gruden a part ownership to sign with the Vols. Although he needs him in Cleveland. 6. Everyone is strongly denighing everything concerning Gruden. These are the local rumors and I have no personal knowledge of any of what I have written. So there you have it. Must be true.......................Al

There are numerous post on winterizing your boat/motor just do a search. I have been told that mothballs will repel mice but I can't say it is fact, never really tried it, but if someone doesn't have a better idea, mothballs are cheap........................Al

2013 Pro Team 165 Vs 175
I don't know how hot it gets during the summer in Ohio but I have difficulty keeping a 15+ lb bag of fish(5) healthy in my Champion which I believe has a 35 gallon livewell. That is in Tennessee using a lot of salt and ice and I carry an O2 tank and diffuser if they become very distressed. It may not get as hot there, 90 degree surface water temp is not uncommon here during the hot months. The tin boats do not have as much insulation as glass boats further adding to the problem. Meaning aluminum transfers heat better than fiberglass. I would have very real concerns about attempting to keep 10 dinks healthy during the summer in a aluminum bassboat with a 15 gallon tank......................Al

How Big Is A Big Crappie?
I was bass fishing on Santee-Cooper and caught a crappie that weighted 3lb 8oz. It hit a suspending rogue. Didn't measure lenght but it was large. Actually caught several that day on the rogue and all were near 3 lbs. The lake record shell cracker is over 5lb, so it is well known for large panfish. The bass ain't bad either......................I consider any crappie over 2lbs a very good fish..................Al

Motor Guide Cable Breaking
I have never had a problem with the steering cables on my motor guides and I have had them for years. If it is not binding I don't know of a cause. Could you be stepping on the pedal while the motor is in the stowed position? Over time this may weaken the cable. Just guessing........................Al
