  1. If you were in the market for a trolling motor, what would you pay?
  2. You will be fishing with comfort and style. Great boat. Good luck with her.........................Al
  3. LOL....and true................They do outgrow some of these traits from my experience. I left food out all the time for two of the Weims I have had. but the one I have now would climb a tree for a bite of anything. About age 5 they become your best friend and will not break the rules you have spent years teaching them, something majical seems to happen. Daily exercise is a must, mine run and swim almost daily and the only time she is leashed is to visit Bass Pro Shop or the Vet. My last 2 have learned to not chase deer, you can't catch them anyway. Three deer bed down three or four nights a week about thirty yards from my yard and my Weim will look for them and try to wind them. Otherwise she ignores them and just does her business before bedtime. The deer have learned she is not a threat and just watch her. I shine my flashlight in their direction to see if they are there and it does not seem to disturb them. The Weim I have now was a rescue dog. A couple bought her and lived in an apartment. Apartment and Weimaraner should not appear in the same sentence................................................Al
  4. I have had at least one Weimaraner since 1981. If you can survive the first two years of puppyhood they become family members and assume the responsibilities that come with it. Each of them have a different personality but each has become a best friend and fishing partner. A couple of weeks ago my wife and I, with Heidi, attended an Elite Series weight-in here at Douglas Lake where we met a lady with her Weimaraner also watching the event. After the weight-in she introduced us to her husband, Gerald Swindle. They were both very friendly as was their dog.....................Al

  6. I will keep my advice simple, fluorocarbon line. It will make a difference, especially with the lighter jigs.............................Al
  7. Yes I can explain it Marty, I had my lures stated incorrectly. I should have written SSRS7 not SSR7. Good eye for catching my mistake, thanks. The SSRS7 is 7/16 oz........................Al
  8. I read somewhere that they are based on full pool......................................Al
  9. 1 1/16" . I tighten mine to tight plus 1/2 turn or as tight as I can get it with a prop wrench............Al
  10. Your post is well written and informative. BTW: It would have taken me "the better part of a day" just to type it, lol. Good read........................Al
  11. I agree completely but I would not want to be person that had to make the choice of which post to add and worse yet which to ignore.....................as most of us think our opinion should carry more weight than someone else...............................Al
  12. The Shad Rap may be the best crankbait ever made, at least it gets my vote. I prefer the shad color for clearer water and perch for stained water. I can throw the SSR7 on baitcasting gear but the SR7 I need spinning gear to cast far enough. The size 7 is my favorite size but I ocasionally throw the 8 or 9. When all else fails this is usually my lure of choice..............................Al
  13. The console installation would be the hard part I would think. I have only seen a few stick steer boats but none of them had a console to mount a steering wheel ass'y and may not have had room. And of course new cables(longer) would have to be installed..............Al
  14. They were throwing other baits that I could not ID, maybe a 6XD, but the shape of the hot lips bill is unique and easily ID'ed. The rookie from Caryville named Card was using the big motor to feed out line. I don't see any difference myself but others may disagree..................Al
  15. I followed several of these guys around on the final day of the tournament and at least 5 of the 12 were strolling while I watched, and maybe more that I didn't see. One of them even used the big motor to move his boat after the cast and before his retrieve, although most used their trolling motor. There was no rule breaking going on, as the tournament director was well aware of what was going on, and many of the fishermen were doing the same thing as word spread. The leader of days 1-3 was strolling and more of them as the days went on. Strolling has been going on here for years, including tournaments, just not common knowledge or on television before now. Most of the fishermen claimed to be fishing 10lb floro which they claimed allowed their lures to go deeper and stay there longer while strolling. They switched rods quite often but many of them claimed to be fishing 6XD's but the only bait I could ID was a hot lips. And all that I watched had a hot lips tied on. I have used this techique and I will tell you that you will sleep well afterwards. Your arms will feel like jello after 30 minutes and if you have a bad back don't even try it. This is a truely painful way to fish, my hat is off to these guys, as many of them did it all day, for several days. The key to making this method work, most of the time, is to crank as fast as you can, burn it. Detecting bites is out of the question unless its a short strike. You can tell you have something but don't know if it is a boot, a stick, bottom or fish. Only time will tell. And not all of your fish are bass, everything eats crankbaits. It was fun to watch although I wish Bret Myers had won since he lead for several days.....................................Al
  16. This is the company that made the original seats for my Champion and I bought replacements from them a few years ago. Great seats but not cheap. Around $700 for my boat in two colors with two but seats..............Al http://www.deanstop.com/

  18. i agree and these young folks have made a memory for life. I bet a few of them hurt for a several days....................Al
  19. Would love to be there when someone else pushed the button.....................Al
  20. I run Seafoam in all of my combustion engines. My local Northern Tool Store sells it for $6.48 a can. And my local Advanced Auto Parts Store will match the price. Wal-Mart will also but I prefer not to shop there..................................Al
  21. You might just as well purchase a silver spoon as the Strike King Sexy Spoon. The paint job on the sexy spoon is good for about 10 cast or 1 fish. Mine are several years old, the paint job may have improved now.....................Al
  22. If my memory serves me this is what it does, but my memory is questionable. It runs current through the battery at a set frequency to basicly clean the lead plates. I think it is an ac current but not sure about that. This is done to add life to a battery as well as make it perform more efficently. The newer smart chargers do this automaticly. I think this is correct but is the condensed version..............................Al
  23. I ride a Harley and I wave because everyone else does. A brotherhood thing I suppose. Riding is still my favorite passtime..............................Al
  24. I quit four years ago but watched a man light one at a tournament weight-in yesterday and wanted one so bad I could have eaten a pack. To be honest I believe you will fight the urge for the rest of your life, but it does get easier................Al
  25. Be careful if you order a new one. Some places they come without any decals, just painted. The decals are expensive also......................Al
