  1. We have a lot in common. I'm a retired TMCS. Richard has helped me on each of my visits and was just building up the tackle shop my last visit. We'll make plans to get together as time gets closer...Thanks Al and I always have sloggo's and sinko's
  2. We are going down the 9th of April for a week. Staying on the lower lake at a military rest camp next to the dam. That area is loaded with gators. A few years ago I had a 4 footer follow a buzzbait to the boat. He got close enough for him to rest a foot on the side of my boat.
  3. Thanks for the quick replies, I'll look at them on my next visit to BPS. Thanks again............Al
  4. Going to Santee-Cooper this spring and want to take a couple of frog baits with me. I have very little experience using them, any suggestions. Thanks.........Al
  5. Easy to make one using a bilge pump. Just solder a cigarette lighter adapter onto the wiring along with some 3/4 in tubing or garden hose.............Al
  6. You may want to look here: www.northerntool.com If no store near you they have internet sales also. One other place is C&O Marine, they did have some in stock, not sure now. They are good to deal with but you may find better prices at northern tool.........Al
  7. I'm not defending his actions, but anyone that has owed the IRS can understand how this happened........Al
  8. Good advice. Hook placement when rigging must be in or very near the center of the bait for best gliding, and the slightest movement of your line equates to large bait movement. This bait can be deadly...........Al
  9. Farmers lobby in government. Kelley I suspect you are both correct..................Al
  10. Congrats on your new Champ, great boats. If you live near Bass Pro Shop, drive down there and ask the guys in the marine dept to install the different chips in a unit so you can compare them on the lakes you will be fishing. The BPS here doe that for anyone that is considering a chip, and they have them all....................Al
  11. This is an excellent evaluation. The fish hunter I bought did not come with the boot(Cover), floor nor the trolling motor or trolling motor bracket. These were add-ons that would total quite a bit in addition to the boat itself but would be necessary to bass fish. To purchase this boat new with all the additions that are necessary would be several hundred dollars and it comes with a short lifespan. It would seem to me money better spent on a used jon boat that you can pick up for about the same money. However everyone is in a different situation and these can be made to work as Shimmy described above. Do what you must to fish................Al
  12. I bought two bass hunters a few years ago for two of my sons. You will need an adapter to put a trolling motor on it, about $40 if I remember correctly. They have a rubber(plastic) bottom and are unstable except maybe sitting. I would not try fishing in one at all. I believe ours are 12' models. I spent more time repairing leaks than the boys spent playing as I remember. I suggest you find another solution to your fishing problem...........Al
  13. Although I agree somewhat, I feel sure if Lowrance was willing to purchase parts someone is willing to manufacture the parts. I think in truth Lowrance does not want to stock parts and employees to repair older units. They want to sell new units because of higher profit margins.................Al
  14. After you have measured everything you will have to have this done to correct the problem..................Al
  15. A friend of mine had the same problem with his tandem axle trailer. He took his trailer to an automotive frame shop and had everything straightened and lined up. He said they chained it down and used hydraulics to straighten everything including the axles. They charged him $100 and he did not have to remove his boat.(20ft bass boat) However that was about five years ago so the price will probably be higher. Just something you may want to investigate...........It would not take long to recoup the money, tires are not cheap.....................Al
  16. I have the 100MPH suit and it will keep you dry and warm in winter and cooler months but sucks in hot weather. I have read that many people like the Cabala's guide suit. For those of you that have rain suits that leak try spraying them once a year with a product called "Camp Dry". This will cure the leaks..............Al
  17. A motor peeing is an indication of the water pump working only and normally will take a few seconds to appear. When the thermostat opens water circulates thru the engine block and out the exhaust as well as out the pee hole...........Al
  18. I considered the same prop for my 20' Champion and was told the fury does not work quite as well on the heavy boats as the tempest plus. But there are no absolutes with props. Is there a dealer in your area that has loaner props? A friend of mine borrowed a fury from a local dealer and ended up buying the loaner at a very good price. Just a thought......................Al
  19. I have several Ardents and love them. I had a problem with a handle several years ago while the reel was under warranty. The knob came off the handle while casting. (?) The paperwork that came with the reel stated you must return the reel for warranty work. I e-mailed them and asked if I could return just the handle, not the entire reel. Their response was " yes return just the handle ". I don't remember how long it took exactly but I had a new handle in less than two weeks. Their customer service from my experience is excellent....................Al
  20. What Wayne is saying: Livewells rarely leak, however the lines to and from the livewells frequently leak and is probably the source of your leak.............Al
  21. When you plug the livewell, do you plug it in the livewell or at the hull drain?
  22. I'm not saying this can't happen but is has not been my experience. What you have written does make sense. I have a custom cover I bought with my 1998 Champion and have not experienced this problem. I have made numerous trips to Florida, Alabama and South Carolina from East Tennessee without any rub damage. My cover attaches to the trailer by straps as well as a draw string around the boat. This could be a difference..........................Al
  23. The Revo is a good choice. I would suggest you get the 6.4 reel although the the burner may be a tad better for this application. The 6.4 will be a better all around reel a year or two down the road as you acquire more equipment. You may want to put this reel on a crankbait or spinnerbait rod down the road......................Al
  24. If you are looking for a dedicated reel for pitching/flipping I recommend at least look at Ardent. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10200550_175003000_175000000_175003000_175-3-0 You need a reel with a lot of drag if fishing really heavy cover and this reel has that covered.........Al
