Wacky Rigged Senko. Weight Or No?
How do you guys rig your wacky senkos? I've fished plenty of stick baits and worms Carolina rigged and Texas rigged, but never fished one wacky before. Going to give it a go this year, but I'm not sure if it's best to fish it weightless or weighted? FWIW it will be used in a relatively shallow (>10'), rocky river for smallmouth. Thanks!!

Trolling Motor Tray Help Needed!
This guy makes pedal trays. I don't have his tray, but I'm pretty sure he can custom make it to your specs. He made me a frame with 3 hatches and lids for my bow deck extension I made for my Tracker 1648 MV. Totally custom work and was really top notch. I try and reccommend him when I can. I can share pics of the hatches/frame he made me if your interested. http://www.fishonfabrications.com/products.html

New Control Cables
Looking to get new gear/gate and throttle cables for my 1994 Johnson 50/35 jet. I have a NOS, OMC control box I bought last summer that came with used cables. The cables aren't the worst, but I want to replace them before they cause me any problems. I'm looking at Teleflex extreme and the Teleflex standard. Anyone have experience with the extreme? They are a bit more pricey than the standard, but I'm OK with that if they perform better and/or last longer than the standard. Or maybe someone has another brand that they like? Thanks!!!

Turning Transom Mount Trolling Motor Into Bow Mount?
There should be a bolt and nut that you can remove from the top of the shaft, just below the head of your unit. You can then spin the TM head around 90 degrees, re-insert the nut and bolt and be good to go. This guy makes a mount, if your not interested in making your own. I don't have the mount, but he made me a frame with 3 hatches and lids to fit into my bow deck extension I make for my Tracker 1648 MV. Really top notch work!! http://www.fishonfabrications.com/products.html

Early Spring Fishing
Thanks. The Potomac does tend to run higher and dirtier this time of year. Just have to depend on a weather break for a few days to help clear her up.

Early Spring Fishing
Thanks man. I've never fished your area. This will be my first season really fishing this area of the river. Spent all of last summer modifying my Tracker 1648 and rebuilding a 50/35 jet, so didn't get much fishing in last year. Now that I have all that finished up and waterfowl season is over I'm ready to get into some fish.

What Colors For Soft Plastics?
Thanks for all the responses!! Going to get my plastics order in sooner than later. Munkin - I haven't fished the Quarry in a few years. But when I did, I had written premission and a key to both gates. My in-laws lived right across from the block company for over 30 years, and helped keep an eye on things there, hence why we had permission and keys. To bad others had to ruin the fun. We've caught numerous 10+lb largemouth out of there, and I'm convinced the state record is in that water.

Hook Size
What's a good all around hook size for rigging weightless soft jerkbaits, wacky/carolina/texas Senkos? This would be smaller size jerkbaits and senkos in the 4" or so range. Mostly for chasing smallmouth and occasionally largemouth.

Thanks for the responses!! Just trying to see if there is anything that most seem to have success with. Seems to be a consensus on the green pumpkin and watermelon red.

What Colors For Soft Plastics?
Going to order some plastics from a local tackle maker and am wondering what colors I should be getting. These will be used primarily to fish for smallmouth in the upper Potomac river (shallow and rocky for the most part) and occassionally for chasing largemouth in various local lakes. I'm looking to get some soft jerk baits, craws for jig trailers and some tubes. Any specific colors you guys reccomend or have had luck with on these types of baits? Thanks!!!

River Smallie Setup
After reading countless reviews and looking at TONS of different rods, I think I've settled on a rod. Not trying to spend a fortune here, but want a decent setup. Trying to stay in the $50 range for a rod. Looking at this one from bass pro in 6' ML. How do you guys think this would pair with a Pflueger 30 size? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Micro-Lite-Graphite-Spinning-Rods/product/10204875/ I'd go with the 6'6"model if it was one piece. In not a big fan of two pieces rods. Thanks!!!

Fluorocarbon Leader Size
I've hauled in quite a few big largemouth with this particular line out of a calm clear quarry. The abrasion resistance wasn't the best so I figured when working bottom structure on the Potomac river the fluoro would hold up a bit better. The clearness of the fluoro also seems like a plus when slowly working a tube or something similar.

Fluorocarbon Leader Size
Thanks for the replies!! This is going on a new Pflueger President and either L, or ML 6'+ rod that I've yet to buy. This is going to be my go to, all around setup for smallmouth fishing the shallow, rocky and narrow upper Potomac river in Maryland. I'm thinking the braid with fluoro leader for things like tubes, worms, cranks etc. and then when I want to work some sort of topwater or maybe spinner I'll snip the leader and go with straight braid. Just trying to build a decent all around setup to avoid needing several different rod/reel/line combos on the boat.

Fluorocarbon Leader Size
Getting ready to order a bit of fluorocarbon to use as a leader on some spiderwire stealth braid that I already have on hand. The spiderwire I have is 15lb. test, which equals 4lb. mono diameter. Wanted to get 6lb. fluorocarbon to use as a leader, but I'm not sure if I should go with 4lb. so the diameters match. Would prefer the 6lb. for the extra strength but don't want to compromise anything by using different diameter main line and leader. What say you guys?

Ah, that makes sense. What size jerkbaits do you guys reccommend? Any colors you all have good success with?

Early Spring Fishing
Thanks for the info guys!! When I think of a jerkbait, I'm thinking an unweighted white fluke? I've never fished any type of jerkbait, but an unweighted 4" or so fluke seems pretty straightforward to work. Where in the area I fish should I start looking for bass early on? Deeper water? Shallow water? Cover? I'm thinking deeper water that's close to shallow rocky water with cover would be a good place to start. Thanks again for the help!!
