  1. If you had connections you could get into Sherwood or Westlake. I live 3000 miles away but those 2 rank the highest for me in that general area.
  2. Happened last February at Toho first thing in the morning in pouring rain. One of the first casts with the big shiner in a known hotspot that has been producing for the guide the previous couple days a big bass blew up on the shiner and I waited a few seconds to let her eat it and set the hook . We knew it was big when it was turning the boat. At one point she surfaced and was curled up and looked like someone stuffed a football down her mouth. Not soon after she made one last effort to change direction towards some grass and that's when she came unhooked. It would have been my biggest bass , easily beating my 11lber. I was no good the rest of the day and this happened right out of the gate. Ended up catching other big bass but this one was in the 13lb class. One of the guides clients caught a 13.5 either the next day or a couple days later which could have been the one I lost. Who knows, it was in the same 25ft area.
  3. Welcome! I sent you a pm.
  4. You can Pm me if you like. I can give you some info on some guides for Toho that Ive used several times that are $250 for 4 hours and know the lake well.
  5. And the trout they feed on is like steroids lol. Beats the heck out of lousy Delaware fishing.
  6. I may have to add that to the list of places I fish when I'm in that area next month. Do you think there are any 8+ lbers in that body of water you were in?
  7. I'll be in Orlando for almost 2 weeks in March . Maybe we can set something up on one those days.
  8. I'll pm you some contact info for guides on Toho.
  9. It was cold that week last year. Was there on vacation with my wife and one morning on Toho it was 38 degrees . I'll be down there a few weeks earlier than you. Iv'e caught giants there in mid February and late March. Good luck and get yourself some hawgs.
  10. There are alot of ponds that have signs posted but where I caught the big ones there were no signs. Don't forget shopping mall ponds or anywhere for that matter. If you want to hit up a big lake loaded with hawgs hire a guide and you'll probably have your new PB that day.
  11. I don't have any specific ones offhand but you never know where those giants are lurking until you try any pond you can find. I live in the northeast but have caught alot of giants while on vacation just stumbling across some nice neighborhood ponds.
  12. Orlando area is loaded with roadside and shopping mall ponds. Go give em a try.
  13. The bass caught in my previous pic was not on a bed . Had no clue where she was lurking at. The same pond I caught some giants in March of 2014 but they were all post spawn.
  14. I wish. I had to go on vacation and travel 1000 miles to catch that one lol.
  15. My biggest of 2015 was over 10lbs on a 4'' swimbait in a neighborhood pond in the Orlando area . I'll be hitting up that area in March to try to find more giants.
  16. I'm sure there is more than one time but the most recent was a swimbait over $50 that a pickerel chewed off 2 seconds after it hit the water. Not a good day.
  17. I have been throwing swimbaits regularly lately to see how cold before they stop chasing them. Water temp was 40 and air was 22 with the wind chill. Threw a squarebill and a swimbait and the swimbait is what they ate. Ended up catching 3 in an hour and lost a couple.
  18. Toho is a good choice. I fished it in March and February in 2 different years and had real good results both times. I can pm you some info on a guide if you want.
  19. Real nice! Gotta love those Florida neighborhood hawg ponds.
  20. I had a few hours to hit up a pond today and I threw a small swimbait and a squarebill crank. Normally this small swimbait hooks them good but I lost a big one when it came to the surface and came unglued. My buddy was catching numbers on a squarebill so I switched to a RC2.0 and caught a couple 3lbers. Then a tiny crappie decided to get in on the action.
  21. 2015 was pretty good for me. Had a productive spring in my home state with alot of topwater frog action. I did alot of traveling to fish which includes Florida, Lake Champlain , and California. Caught a couple over 10 in Florida , alot of 3-4lb smallies at Champlain and loads of nice bass in Ca. including 3 over 6lbs in the same day. Need to live closer to one of those lakes.
  22. I hit up a pond today trying to get my new year bassin on. Water temp was 48 which is good for this area this time of year. Air temp was 40 with 20mph gusts. First lure thrown was my reliable rig walker and they were hitting it hard and often. Next I threw a 6'' swimbait and put some time in with that. Ended up catching over 20 including a couple nice ones on the bigger swimbait . One was upper 4's. Wearing sneakers my feet were numb after a few hours and I packed it up.
  23. Thanks. It was nice to still be using fast moving baits this late in the year.
  24. Monday a buddy and I hit up one of my private ponds. The weather was 70 degrees on Sunday and dropped to a high of 45 the next day. Water temp was still decent at 57. First bait I threw was a Matzuo Ikari Shad in red craw color and caught a bass on that. I was changing colors and brands frequently just to see if they would hit them all. Ended up catching over 20 on various cranks, a few on a swimbait and worms.
