  1. Congrats. Nice hawg.
  2. I had an hour to get some fishing in during my business stops today so I hit up one of my honey holes. I threw nothing but the rig walker swimbait. It was like a buffet line with that lure. Ended up catching close to 12 bass and I pickerel and lost a swimbait on a big laydown. Good thing for braid as I was able to yank on the line hard and partially straighten the hook to get most of the snags back. Next time out there I plan on throwing some bigger 6'' Hudds which could be good or bad depending how long it takes for some wood to ****** them up.The big girls haven't come out to play yet.
  3. Thanks. They weren't ready for frogs yet but I sure am.
  4. I hit up one of my honey holes for a few hours this afternoon. Water temp was 48 ( I was in it) and cloudy skies. I was throwing a River2Sea rig walker swimbait next to various laydowns in a small area and the bass were nailing it hard. After walking down a muddy bank to gently release the bass in the water holding onto a branch from a laydown I heard a crack and in the water I went. The bass got released gently as I was doing a bridge with my hands up to my elbows in the water and my upper legs and butt got soaked. It didn't take long to get out when the 48 degree water took effect. Luckily my camera and everything in my pockets made out ok. The fish were biting too good to leave so I kept on fishing. Next I threw a Strike King Rage Blade and got whacked real good reeling it past a laydown . It felt big with the fight it gave me but it ended up being a big pickerel..had to be 4lbs or so. One of the last lures I threw was a swimjig with a Rage Tail Cut-R Worm for a trailer. A few bass and another pickerel nailed that setup. Ended up catching one or two more on the rig walker swimbait before I headed out of there to get warm and dry. It was a very active few hours for only fishing in a small area. I highly recommend trying the River2Sea rig walker swimbait even though it's only 4'' long it caught that giant in Florida. The Rage Blade is a great action bait also.
  5. That's it.. Thanks man.
  6. I threw it but was the first time using it. It was buried in a box of baits and I tossed it in the tackle bag today.
  7. I have been losing quite a few lures recently on big trees in the water. I took a pic of this swimbait right before I threw it knowing it may not come back to me. Any ideas?
  8. Good deal. I can't wait for full on topwater action. I had a few blowups the other day when I was swimming a worm next to some laydowns.
  9. Congrats . You're hooked now and being in Florida for that is a good thing.
  10. Thanks guys. That's the one I thought also looking at TW website.
  11. It's hard to say but unfortunately I lost that crankbait on a big laydown today. I don't remember what brand it was but I'll have to scope around and see what resembles it.
  12. Try a Strike King Rage Blade and a red lipless crankbait. I have been catching them in my home state the last week in 50 degree water. As far as Junebug , I mentioned before about catching bass in any clarity of water with that color..it just seems to work.
  13. They were liking this red crankbait yesterday in 52 degree water.
  14. Most people have encountered some hawgs that broke them off. I can't remember half of them. It may be overkill but use some 50lb braid . Some piece of mind that the line won't fail.
  15. Do you have any type of sonar to see what the bottom looks like?
  16. Nice fish. Be careful having your wife catch a bigger bass...been there done that lol.
  17. As soon as the water opens enough to fish from the bank I'm ready. Two years ago in January I caught my biggest local bass of 7.3lbs on a shallow crankbait.
  18. I'm guilty of the one hand hold on DD bass as well. I don't doubt it's not the best way to hold them although I have held 7lb bass locally with one hand and caught the same bass a few more times that year. With the excitement of catching this one below in a neighborhood pond I focused on using two hands to support her.
  19. Congrats on that tanker! Welcome to the 11lb club.
  20. I don't want to hijack the thread with posting my video unless the OP doesn't mind.
  21. Hey man, how's it going? Tell your father thanks again for taking me out on his boat when I was in your town.
  22. It sounds like a private 10 acre pond I fish locally. The pond has been established since the 80's and still only has bass in the 1- 1.5lb range. They hit anything basically. I have caught bluegill in there bigger than 90% of the bass Iv'e ever caught and that's thousands of bass. It's crystal clear and has depths of 28ft. With underwater video you can read the label on the crankbait in the fishes mouth in 8 fow. I have tons of video if anyone ever wanted to check it out.
  23. Matt lures bluegill works well for pestering bedding bass. I have some underwater video from last years spawn using Matt's bluegill in one of my private lakes . You could see down in 8 fow as the bass would grab the gill by the side, swim away, spit it out and return back to the bed.I must have used 5 different lures and she would take them all.
  24. Nice fish man. Catch a few for me until our water opens up which I hope will be this week.
  25. Try a chatterbait in chart/white or black/blue and some rattling crankbaits.
