  1. Id only do this with 30+ lb braid on, because if that bait gets snagged in a tree...ill be pulling the tree down before i cut my line with only one bait
  2. i tend to fish as far back as i can, As much as 10 ft depending on what im using. Also, its nice to just sit down and fish on the banks, not as visible and nowhere near as many vibrations. The other big thing ive learned come into play is color of clothes, stick to neutrals for the environment that wont make you stick out
  3. My super secret method hasnt gone mainstream yet... Couldnt tell ya why, but i get a lot of mid day bites or strikes on crankbaits when the line and a hook get wrapped up and it does the topwater swirl retrieve
  4. Seeing a lot of active baits being mentioned, so ill say the shadow in the room, 1/8th oz 6-7" green pumpkin Shakey Head, unsalted. Works like a charm for me year round when they just dont even want to bite water
  5. Yea ive noticed that, also had one strike the back and still get front hooked, felt sorry for the guy because it gave him a good half inch gash right between the gills
  6. Ive been picking up a strange trend with colors this year... Atleast with my crankbaits, my whites, blues, etc (sexy shad, bluegill) catch more, but smaller fish. Where as my reds have caught nothing under 2 lbs, most 3+ Never noticed this before in previous years...maybe its just strange luck, cant say for sure. Its shallow water though, wouldnt be the first time ive been surprised because of it haha
  7. im in VA, just above you, and here the quite a few bass have moved shallow into dense cover but dont seem to be straying away from it. i got a 100x40 yard or so cove where theres Flats, rocks, trenches, everything. But the entire cove is barren of largemouth, except for a decent size beaver hut where theres a good 15-20 that pretty much just patrol around it all day
  8. Does anyone know of any spot on modifications to prevent treble hooks from hooking into the sides/stomachs of fish? Seems every other bass i catch has an entire barb end up somewhere that isnt its mouth. Cant imagine getting shanked near organs is a pleasant experience for these guys
  9. Have no dogwoods around here, but i can tell you ive hooked like 14 largemouth under 5 inches in the past 2 days... Been noticing a weird trend too, My kvd 1.5 sexy shad squarebill has been catching all these little guys, Where my Rapala DT-6 in demon has caught nothing under 2 lbs, 6 of em so far.
  10. College is already a debt scam as it is. I can only imagine how much debt youd amass doing full time college and fishing....Agree, school be a no-go
  11. i keep my lure 1'3 ft away from the rod tip and rarely overhand cast. Generally side cast and whip it, lets it go far and stay rather low
  12. Yeap, The thermo is the key to anything below 1'
  13. Ive always found large jerkbaits to work better, even on the smaller bass. The only thing better than a free dying meal to a bass is a free larger dying meal.
  14. Interestingly enough, thats exactly how i lost my lure, wind threw me off balance and had a late release. Couldve sworn a ghost with a 5 iron attacked my lure
  15. The way i throw lures and hooks around when retying...id end up in the water within 5 minutes
  16. If you go to Norman, accidentally catch yourself a gar...fun fish haha
  17. Whats the material?
  18. Ive never liked braid on spinning, dunno why.
  19. 10 minutes? you quit easily haha, my fiasco last for over 2 hours. And the lure i lost wasnt because of water debris, it was because the wind took it, and carried it, right into a tree....Dual trebles seem to be near impossible to get free
  20. The boils on the hotside are insane when you can find em haha
  21. Early spring winds was my general point. 25 mph gusts and weightless rig on the baitcaster. Ended up with a 30+ yard bird nest of braid that i fought with for hours before just hacking a knife at it. Dollars down the drain
  22. Or just research the natural cure instead of complying with pharma crud that has 100 ill effects and a side effect of possible help. Any natural illness has a natural cure, remember that
  23. i dont know what the big ones will hit, but i was throwing a kvd 1.5 squarebill today and little 4-6 inchers were absolutely murdering this thing. My guess would be slow presentations on the bottom around nesters, shakey head with floater tail oughta do it. At the moment where i fish anything that runs over 3' is literally just a bait catcher this week
  24. You go out for 5 hours, spend 3 hours fighting tackle, 1.5 hours catching nothing, spend 30 minutes catching 5 bass, and walk out of there with a daily PB of about 5 1/2 inches. Oh, and getting to lose another kvd 1.5 crank and breaking the tip off a 70 dollar graphite rod in the process of trying to retrieve sed crank. What a wonderful day!
  25. Ive learned google maps to be ever so decieving when not paired with a topo map. Go down to your new "sweet spot" to find out its 100 yard long 20 yard wide stretch of 1 1/2 ft water >_>
