  1. I stopped whipping casts when time after time i was forgetting to adjust the brake...and well...you know
  2. i believe the story goes Garlic contains an amino acid that is also found in fish, and some people tend to lean towards bass cant distinguish between anti vampire powder and chlamydia...Its really all speculation though.
  3. Ive caught catfish on everything except cranks and jerks really...probably 15+ different plastic rigs, football jigs, 2 on spoons...and 1 on a top water which confused me to the extent that i just kinda sat and stared at this catfish with a bubblegum rebel pop-r in its mouth for who knows how long
  4. Yea...unfortunately Anna got such a good rep with keepers that so many large bass have been jacked over the years. Now, its more baitfish than anything and its just getting worse every year. One Fish Anna !
  5. Yea red eye shad would be my first guess too
  6. in lure weights if they arent pressure sealed theyre probably glued. Take a hair dryer and heat the crap out of an old beater crank at different angles to see if you can melt it and move it. Just dont throw it in the microwave unless you like blue lightning in your house
  7. Ive made a couple neon like shakey heads id deem "firetiger". Caught 2 on em so far, probably put over 15 hours into fishing them
  8. I dont know, here on anna if i throw Firetiger anything ill never get bit. But if i throw the exact same bait in bubblegum or green pumpkin it gets murdered.
  9. And drowning, dont forget drowning
  10. Had a 15 dollar lipless crank snag on a stump the other day....then as im trying to wiggle it free the knot failed...so i rightfully jumped into 45 degree shoulder high water in jeans and a hoodie without delay to get it back..... Almost lost that one...the only hardbait ive lost was a 5 or 6 dollar buzzbait though...knot failed on that one too and sent the lure flying 100 ft while my line went about 5 >_<
  11. Id recommend going out with Mccotter and take advantage of his guide knowledge, i bet he knows lake anna better than anyone
  12. Youre lucky, my PB went from 3.5 to 12...I know theres a bigger one out there somewhere, but it may be 40 years before i find him and obtain a new PB haha
  13. Did that bass bite or did you hook him with a surprise shot to the lower jaw? lol
  14. Id imagine itd be as simple as testing 6' diving red crankbait on a sunny day and then cloudy. couple weeks of testing would give a clear answer, and best of all, its an excuse to blow everything off and fish
  15. Yea thats why ive been questioning salted shakey heads lures...instead of dancing the tail youd have to hop it to get any noteworthy action
  16. http://www.rapala.com/storm/hard-baits/original-mag-wartandreg/Original+Mag+Wart.html?start=19&cgid=storm-hardbaits closest thing i personally know of....Discontinued model maybe?
  17. Ive noticed that if the bass arent overly aggressive or feeding heavily, in shallow water a rattle sends them high tailing it faster than a 5lb rock. In deeper water...well i cant see that far, heh
  18. My guess would be in your waters baitfish far outnumber any thing else from the sound of that
  19. Like a DIY fisherman, Thread some 8lb mono through it and then find a way to finish it with a palomar knot
  20. I say the same thing...and then i get a damned shipping and handling charge
  21. i dont use scents very often, like 2-3 times a year really...but when i do i like to mix Mend-It and the scent in a container, apply it to the top of the bait, and then close it in a bag for however long. Pretty much marinates and impregnates at the same time
  22. I keep seeing these "shakey head" lures that are impregnated with salt...i cant imagine a salt impregnated lure outdoing a non salt on this rig, so are these supposed to be fished more actively? Sort of like swing jigs, think thats the name anyways. Or is this simply a marketing scam?
  23. As long as it acts like food. Shakey heads for instance, really dont imitate much of anything other than an out of place underwater leaf. You just simply dont see 6 inch long worms shaking their rear in any waters that i know of. But, it gives off such a vulnerable appearance that literally even the smallest bass will attack a 10" shakey head in any waters. Where as something like one of the erratic crankbaits dont quite give us such a vulernable appearance and may not always produce
  24. If it was green, Its algae more than likely. If its yellowish/green, its pollen. Really your only 2 culprits
