  1. I was running a lipless crank through some swirling water, Eye hooked 2 "Wiper" hybrids...I thought that was rather interesting
  2. Or dual 300's.....Some people just go custom overkill
  3. Go out about 12-1 with a shakey head and just drop it in front of their face. Theyll bite. Ive noticed bedding bass dont follow the early morning late night trend, they seem to feed around 10 and 3 pm, and get rather aggressive between. Atleast on my neck of the water
  4. Shallow water can heat up extremely fast, especially if it has a rocky bottom
  5. If you really want one, roll a 1/8th oz 6" shakey head...Perfect rig for the lazy badass patrolling under the water
  6. Nothing quite like perfecting a rig with beautiful knots, then having it end up on the floor because of wind and a lighter
  7. I use Mend-It to turn soft plastic pieces and baits into some interesting things
  8. i have the best luck when i cast low to the water with a weightless texas rig. Keeps slack to a minimum and the bait wont travel in a ) motion through the water when it starts. Also, braid seems to help it slide through aswell
  9. Funny how pre 2k tech was generally made to last...but anything modern is made to break...Gotta love the "business" model in this country
  10. Ill say a green pumpkin 1/8th oz shakey head rig has never failed me. Wether it be 100 degrees, or 5 degrees, pond or lake, windy or calm, shallow or deep, Even Pre/Post/During cold fronts. Based on my success, id call it The Year Round Bait, and not a situational bait like cranks/spinners/etc. However, none of that matters if youre simply in barren water, which sucks.
  11. Im limited to shorelines and docks for 95% of the year...Consider myself a top shallow fisher since its the only thing ive been doing year round for about 4 or 5 years. Wether it be pond or lake. Kayak would be nice, but ironically, i have no love of water. More between me and it the better. Might be interesting to give it a try though
  12. Could use those temps here...At this point im tempted to go to 5000 dollars worth of water heaters and chuck them in my cove.
  13. If the bass just seems to have black spots or black all over the top it generally means it spends a lot of time patrolling banks and what not. Picture is too small to get detail to see, but its basically a bass sun tan
  14. This same thing is happening here, ive had baitfish in my cove which is running about 47 degrees for 2 weeks now. Yet no bass at all have moved in. Even weirder, one day there will be 50 baitfish grouped up like they normally are in spring, and the next, there wont be a single fish in the cove...Its definitely a weird start to the year
  15. I use a Morakniv Companion, highest quality 15 dollar knife on the market, carbon steel. Cuts through wood and flesh (jabbed my hand one day) like butter, do the same to fishing line. Line cutters, scissors, etc, are just a waste of money
  16. My shallows cove never froze, but it definitely didnt sit at spawning temps. Lowest i recorded was 38 degrees, highest was a couple days ago at 46
  17. Anna in VA is on the verge, water temps hovering 45/46, Just need that one push of heat to finally get this season kicked into action
  18. The hotside truly is a headache...but it can be very worthwhile. Last year there was a day or 2, water mustve been pushing 90-95, and the hotside shallows literally had places that were bubbling midday all over the place, no not from boiling, but just from swarming bass going nuts over baitfish. Yet this same day, where fishing was ridiculous in the shallows here, i never found someone that had much of any luck on the cold side shallows for those days. Not quite on the waterfront, short walk/drive to it though, iirc im somewhere a little north of beaver creek i believe its called.
  19. Hunker up under whatever i can and blind cast cranks, spinners, etc. whatever i can get away with without having to play tricks. Wind sucks... Btw, Why must it always be windy on clear days?
  20. I think you could actually apply a logical solution to "lucky shirts" that are never washed....Being that they probably end up smelling like fish, just the act of putting it on could help mask the scent from your hands into smelling more like fish...or mildew. But still, seems reasonable. Guess the moral of the story is to not get all fancied before hitting the water...lol
  21. Never turn down an opportunity like that, just dont go anywhere without a morakniv on your hip haha
  22. Getting ticked off at a heavy snag on the first cast and drop kicking my drink sky high......then doing the swim of shame.
  23. Since youre in spotsy, im assuming its Anna...Based on other anglers ive come across and the amount of time ive spent in my cove, For whatever reason, Bass havent moved deep into coves yet, They were slightly in thursday, picked em off left and right. The cold that hit friday seemed to drive everything deep again, or atleast back to the mouths. If i had a boat id be running the drop offs with a jig, or a wacky...always keep a wacky in mind heh
  24. If i casted into this id either be out of a 10 dollar lure, or completely destroy the structure retrieving sed lure.....more than likely both though
  25. Anyone in the Lake Anna area know of any decent ponds to hit around here? Have heard about Northeast creek resevoir, but i dont really fancy the idea of buying a seperate license for it. Or perhaps some decent shorelines on lake anna instead, Need to get out of this dang cove ive been stuck fishing in.
