  1. What no lakes in Delaware, made the list.LOL
  2. When it gets real hot and humid in Delaware,i'll fish from about 11pm till about 7am.I don't care what I throw, just so it's black.
  3. I deer hunted and wabbit hunted, for many years.I blew out both knees, and went on ss disability two years ago.About six years ago I got into grilling and smoking foods big time.So that took the place of me hunting.Last summer I bought a bass boat and got back into fishing, after not fishing since the 80's.Now this spring,my cooking outside been put on hold, while I fish almost everyday.I still grill and smoke meat, just not so much. This summer when the temps are hot during the day,I can cook outside, and fish all night.
  4. Thanks for making this video,I enjoyed watching it.
  5. After reading this post several times about your problem, concering your bass fishing addiction.my question to you is this. When do you find time to do anything with your wife?I mean when is the last time if any,you stopped thinking about yourself, and spent time alone with your wife?Do you go to the mall with her and carry her bags, while she goes from store to store?I was married for 27yrs,to the perfect wife.We got divorced, because I didn't know what I had.Well I knew,I just took advantage of her.I was out in the yard one day putting a new lawn mower together.A friend stopped by from the bass club, said lets go fishing.I said here hon, finish putting this together.I loaded up the boat, when I got home, the grass was even cut.We are planning on remarring this summer.Back in the 80's I fished tournaments,I had it bad for fishing. She nevered said a word. But when we got back together,I made up my mind, that this time it will be about her.I still fish, but now it's her breakfast and dinner cooked for her.I do the cleaning of the house,I do the laundry. What i'm trying to say is this.Don't lose your wife over your addiction. And don't think it can't happen.
  6. Man that's A Hawg
  7. I caught my first bass today since I started using baitcasters, this year. Was on a local pond today at 6am,fished till noon.Water temp was 60,and muddy.I tried near the shore and in the middle ,but nothing.Lillypads were up,so I threw a black/blu swimjig, with matching trailer.I told my buddy that I was hung up,and headed for the pad.About ten feet from the boat,I saw the bass's head shake.I didn't feel the bite, just thought I was hung up on the pad. After that nothing. But it was a beautiful morning, and that's what counts. BTW.My friend's scale's must be off.It didn't even read 2lbs.Looks bigger too me.
  8. I've only caught about four,nothing big.I just can't find any.Don't come to Delaware,to bass fish.lol
  9. The weather here in Delaware, finally warmed up.Last week was in the 50's this week in the 60's and 70's.Our ponds aren't deep. Most are 6' at their deepest.I'm starting out with water temps in the 50's,warming up to about 56 middady.Throwing senkos, lipless cranks, spinner baits, swim jigs, jerkbaits, swim baits. My son did lose a hawg on Saturday,at the boat,on a swim bait. But other than that one,and a few small bass,I can't locate any pre spawn bass. The ponds are stain to muddy, from the recent rains. This week instead of pond hopping,i'm sticking with one pond, and just fishing it,i'll see what happens.I just got back into bass fishing last summer, bfrom being away from it since the 80's.I spent the winter watching videos of big fish being caught from our local ponds, this time of year.I bought all new rods and lures, and was really pumped.Anyone have any suggestions.I am fishing from a bass boat.
  10. Here in Delaware our lakes and ponds are small. They all have a no wake, and not real croweded. Now the bay and rivers, well that's another story.
  11. Son and I got on the water about 1130am today,we fished till 430pm.The water temp was 50,later on it was 54,and muddy,You couldn't see six inches below the surface. This lake stays muddy all year, but with 50 degree water,I figured we'd catch a few.We threw swimjigs, lipless crankbaits, chatterbaits,,spinnerbaits, crawfish.Nothing in the shallows or deeper parts.Lake isn't very deep.I picked up a Storm's Kickin Shad,Swimbait the other day.But with muddy water,i didn't use it.My son tied it on and I just Laffed. After several casts,I heard a splash, and watched my son reeling in a 7-8 lb.bass.She came to the top, while I was getting the net.But he didn't get her close enough. She shook the hook lose, and that fast she was gone.Oh yeah,he had a few choice words.lol.I just wonder why,we didn't catch any other bass.
  12. My number one goal for this year,is mastering a baitcaster.I just got back into fishing last July, since being away from the sport since the late 80's.These small ponds in Delaware, get fished so much.I don't work anymore,so i'd love to take one pond, and learn it.I mean the big hawgs, got to go somewhere.
  13. The wind is on my mind.I live in Delaware, the ponds and lakes are small, not many places to get out of the winds.Today forcast,15-25 miles wind. It's been that way all week.
  14. I would love to find out where some of these people live, and throw the trash that I pick up,and throw in their yards. It's the same thing with crabbing. The empty beer or soda cans, empty chicken packages, that are left behind,is unreal.
  15. Derek Jeter,of the New York Yankees.
  16. This year i'm starting to use baitcasters,only used spinning rods in the past.I've got my reels dialed in,but when I cast,I don't get any distance.My rods are 6'9''.with 17lb floro,line on them.Yesterday I was casting 1/4 oz.crankbaits,and 1/4 oz spinnerbaits.our ponds aren't deep.3-6'.some may might a few deeper holes,so I don't need big baits.Am I using too lite of a lure?I was only getting about twenty five yard casts,from the boat.
  17. Our ponds in Delaware aren't deep.,they are mostly about six feet deep.A few may have some deeper holes, but not much deeper. This winter our ponds and lakes stayed frozen for several weeks at a time.I'm amazed at how our fish make it throughout the winters ,in such shallow waters.
  18. Yes,we did everything that you mentioned. It's not much gas that leaks. It is a two stroke.
  19. Last summer I got back into bass fishing, and got a good deal on this 1980 skeeter, with a 1980 Merc. The guy That I bought it from, took the enging cover off, sprayed a mixture of gas and oil,in the carbs.Right then I should have walked away, but it was a good deal.My friends said the 3 carbs needed to be rebuilt. So this winter,we done that. But still have the same problem. When the motor is tilted up,like when i'm towing the boat,a little gas drips from the carbs. When I lower the enging, this gas leaks into the lakes, which I don't like.It takes forever getting the engine started.I spent the winter on the net.looking into this problem. It seems like this was a problem that the factory knew about when this engine was built, but didn't fix it.Seems like a lot of guys have this problem. One guy said that Nappa makes a sponge you put below the carbs,so it catches the gas.I went on their website, can't find anything about it.I went to a Nappa store, they didn't know what I was talking about.I'm thinking about putting a shutoff valve on the gas line,so when I get done fishing,I just shut off the gas supply.Any thoughts on any of this? Thanks
  20. Back in 1961 I was 11yrs old.I just spent 4 months in a hospital, with TB in NY,where I was born and raised. That summer my parents put me and my sister on a bus,too spend the summer in Il.,with my grandparents. My uncle took me fishing, and I caught my 1st,1lb bass, using a cane pole, bobber, hook and a worm.I remember crying like a baby, cause my uncle wouldn't clean the bass,so I could eat it.lol But it was the best summer that I ever spent, while growing up.
  21. Skunked,I never ever get skunked.But then i'm a fisherman,and I lie.lol
  22. Hello.Found this site, and I like what I see.I no longer fish tournaments,I now fish with my best fishing buddy, who is my 32yr old son.We take his son who is seven, and have a good time.I'm 64,and on disability,so I can fish anytime.Anyone else on here from De?
