  1. my fishing partner uses the okuma backpack. He got it from the walmart site a lot cheaper than the tackle warehouse backpack and it has a lot of storage space. I used to use the bass pro backpack system but ended up selling it and getting a backpack from a thrift store with side pockets that hold 10 to 20 bags of skft plastics eacn and have 4 3700 boxes in the main co.partment and a binder for spinnerbaits and jigs. Also most "kids" backpacks have so small front pocket with pencil holders that can be used to hold pliers and scissors. This works great for me being a shore bound angler
  2. I fish mostly from the bank and i'm needing a shorter spinning rod for jerkbaits. I would like to keep the rod price under 130 if possible but would be willing to save more if i need to. Ive seen 3 rods in my price range: fenwick elite tech smallmouth, abu vendetta, and the *** *** black. I need a rod that can handle 1/8 to 5/8 ounce hard and soft jerkbaits amd the fight a striper can put up. The fenwick looks like the best fit because i haye downlocking reel seats like on the vendetta but im worried the other two won't have the backbone i need. Does anyone have any experience with any of these three in this length? Also the st croix eyecon really intrigues me. its a little out of my price range but i hear their medium action is stiffer than most so im thinking of saving up for it. Can anyone give me opinions on these rods or offer any other suggestions?
  3. Has anyone tried either of these reels? Im looking for a new spinning reel for smaller jerkbaits and other finesse techniques and the light weight and looks of both of these really intrigues me. My main concern is durability. I have went through several reels in this price range and none seem to last. Im wondering if i should just buy a better model used reel or just save a little more and get a daiwa tournament ss. I know its not the smoothest reel but i used one for every species of fish in my area including stripers for 14 years and it was still going strong when i sold it due to financial hardship. I know neither of these will probably last that long but id like at least a few years of service for my hard earned money
  4. Hi everyone my name is chance. I live in south cenral tennesse and fish mainly for smallmouth and stripers on tims ford lake. Ive been fishing for about 25 years now but im pretty new to the web forum thing. I used to get all my info from magazines and tv but have found forums such as this one to be way more useful for learning about equipment and techniques.
