  1. I just recently got one so I haven't tested it too much but it should be good for all the techniques you mentioned. I've been using mine for weightless plastics and shakey heads and have no complaints.
  2. I have a SpiderWire Wolf Spider Tacklebag that carries way more stuff than I'd use in one outing. i used to use a backpack to carry all my tackle but i like the satchel style more now. Its a lot easier to access your tackle while still keeping the bag on.
  3. ^ Looks like a Rapala Rattlin Rap in bluegill.
  4. I did the same thing today with the same results. None the less it was nice to finally get out again. Now I just need to actually catch a fish, which I don't see happening anytime soon unfortunately.
  5. Just one. M Spinning rod for river and M baitcaster for ponds/lakes
  6. Mustad Duo Locks. Have never had one open up or break on me.
  7. I am no expert by any means but I have caught fish in muddy water with a gold x rap many times.
  8. My best producing hard bait last season was the jointed shad rap by Rapala in Perch.
  9. Thanks for that smalljaw. Does anyone have experience with the bubble blades (the ones with the holes drilled through them)? It's looking like its gonna be my only choice but I don't want to order them if they're not as good as the orgininal style ones.
  10. Hey guys. So I'm trying to make my own bladed swim jigs/ swim jigs to curb this cabin fever I have been suffering from and I have come across a small problem. I was planning on ordering some blades from fishingskirts.com but since I live in Canada there is a standard shipping fee of $20! I don't really want to pay $20 shipping for a $2.10 item. Is there any of you tackle making gurus who have a few things left over that you wouldn't mind getting rid of (I pay shipping of course)? Or if anyone knows of any Canadian based tackle making websites. Honestly anything would be greatly appreciated Thanks!
  11. Can't really comment on the over head casts as I am still a beginner with casting gear but for backlashes, the best advice I can give you though is to be patient. I don't know how many times I've gotten frustrated at a backlash and tried pulling on it harder to untangle it only for it to bury a knot and ruin half a spool of line. Usually when I take my time picking them out, it doesn't take any longer than 20 seconds. Also adjusting your breaks is key.
  12. That looks really good. Just seeing everyone's handmade lures really makes me want to try to make my own.
  13. Has anyone tried the Big Bite Baits Craw Tube? I thought they looked pretty good so I picked up a few packs.
  14. Hey guys, got a few bags of these to try out in the spring. I've used flukes a bit and some success with them. So what's your guys take on them, are they better than the Zoom flukes?
  15. Would you mind explaining why? I just always thought it was best for them to sit horizontally.
  16. I use snaps on my cranks all the time (Mustad duo lock I believe). Haven't had any issues other than it making some of my suspending jerk baits sit nose down.
  17. I've tried fishing with a bunch of different spoons from shore but never catch too much. It's probably user error though.
  18. Alright, thanks a lot guys. Now I just have to catch some fish with it!
  19. It is a Medium fast *** Black in 6'10". And I'm not too worried about losing a bit of distance, I just don't want my rod to break on a cast
  20. Hey guys, so don't make fun of me too bad if this is a stupid question. Anyway, I have an *** Black that is rated for 1/4-5/8oz, and I have a really awesome D&M bladed swimjig in bluegill that I really want to use but its 3/4oz. Would I be crazy to try using this on a rod that isn't rated for it? This rod is my first "good" baitcasting set up so I don't wanna break it because of such a stupid mistake. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
  21. That's awesome! Can't wait to see more
  22. The reel is from a Quantum Advantage Baitcast combo. I initially got it because I wanted to try a baitcaster. I re assembled everything back the same way it was when I took it apart so I don't believe I am missing any pieces . I can upload more pictures of the reel if this would be better for you guys to diagnose. And my spool is about 75-80% full as I have lost some line due to break offs. I guess I should also mention that I am planning on getting a quality rod and reel in the near future. I would just like to use this as a backup/beater rod.
  23. The groove isn't very deep from what I can tell but I'll definitely keep an eye on that. If anyone knows of a place I can get a metal level wind (if this even exists) please let me know, I see many more backlashes in my future.
  24. I do get a fair bit of backlashes, this is actually my first baitcasting setup but i didnt think they were bad enough to wear away at the plastic! This must've happened a while ago then becasue I am getting very few backlashes now as I am becoming more experienced with baitcasting reels. Is there any way I can fix this? Or am I just going to have to deal with it?
