  1. ive got the essentials. have 4 rigs. 3 spinner 1 bait caster. i have a decent amount and variety of lures. so i could stop purchasing but HELL NO!! i may have a variety but now i need those lures in different colors, plus i love buying fishing gear nothing beats going to bass pro with your favorite fishing buddies and going nuts filling baskets, then going out to try it all!
  2. if you use google chrome top right should be a translate button
  3. you made your own rod? sounds cool, do you have pics?
  4. i fish t-rigged curly tails without a weight . sometimes it needs to just sit for 2 minutes literally and other times they wont hit bottom before they are taken. i noticed that most of the fish i caught hit the bait before coming back to eat it. so i hook set on the second strike i feel. other times you will notice your line moving and never felt anything, i havent ever had luck with senkos.

so i have been watching youtube vids on making lures. with the winter approaching i might try and do one just to stay busy. has anyone here made their own hard baits and or swimbaits? if so any pics of your process or videos. and was it worth the time or just a good hobby to stay busy?? i seen someone foil a hard bait before paint has anyone tried it or are you better off carving or painting the detail scales? i know their are lure makers here so show your stuff! this guy makes some incredible lures, great artist! check out his vid here

i know im no pro and have A LOT to learn. but isnt walking the bait a simple technique? (dont mean to sound rude ) ive watched videos on walking the bait/frog. they say to leave slack and snap/twitch your rod down, i do this and dont seem to have a problem. maybe im not doing it right?? i dont understand how making one leg shorter would help the walk. can anyone explain?
  10. this goes for any store! sometimes they make you feel like your a pain in the ass and give you a lazy two word answer. but when i need a question answered i look for older guys, look for the guy who looks like he is at retiring age. ive noticed alot of older people work their just stay busy and generally they have good advice because its something they are into themselves.
  11. that didnt look that bad. maybe it just sounds worse than it actually is lol.
  12. id like to stay within $200
  13. any good fish finders i could use on a canoe? preferably a detachable monitor at least thanks in advance!
  14. depends. when i go to my usual i know what im tying on. but otherwise thae plan is to get out fishing and have an awesome day without any stress or stupid ppl BS. i bring 4 rods usually. one worm, one frog, another top water jitter bug /torpedo the last rod usually has a some kind of swimming bait
  15. i got a hook from a 6" jointed minnow. got the hook past the barb and a 5lb pickerel still on the other hook freaking out. you dont realize how tuff your skin is till you puch a hook through it. i hd to use a razor to help get the hook through
  16. i used a set of jumper cables (good ones and ran them to the front of my canoe, easy connect/disconnect and helps with weight issue. i have a pole on bottom of my canoe that runs fron to back to help keep its shape si used that to help hide the wires and attached the connectors under my seats. and if you want you can cut off one set of the grippers and connect a trolling motor plug. moving my battery to the front greatly improved the handling of the canoe. i have a 16 ft canoe and its a huge sail when i dont have any weight up front. evn when i dont use my motor ill put my battery up front just for weight. hope this helped! http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Navigation?storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&searchTerm=trolling+motor+plug
  17. not sure if this could work for you im looking into one myself. http://www.basspro.com/Humminbird-120-Fishin-Buddy-Ultimate-Portable-Fishfinder/product/97456/
  18. has anyone used this fishfinder? if so was it worth the money, and how did it stand up to your expectations? are their any other brands that are portable like this. i canoe fish and have a jon boat so portable is best for me. http://www.basspro.com/Humminbird-120-Fishin-Buddy-Ultimate-Portable-Fishfinder/product/97456/ thanks in advance!
  19. maybe i didnt google it righ,t or looking in the wrong places. thanks for all this advice, i appreciate it. how do you know the forage the fish feed on? ive never been able to see schools from my canoe. i usually scare them off bye the time i can see them. also how do you know if your using to big of baits or to small? does it really matter on the size? i do know the saying "big bait big fish, little bait a lot of fish" im not up to par on sonar at all! i never had one so dont know if its really worth it. i do want to try an array of different locations next season, so maybe it would be worth it. or just spend more time on the lake and learn it the old school way

    no one uses rattles?
  21. welcome, im fairly new here too and the people seem to be great with good advice. great sport to get into too!
  22. smalljaw covered it pretty good.. that yellow curly tail worm is my go to bait rigged texas style without a weight. about the swivel. i dont use them. if you do make sure you dont use one too small like i did. it broke as i pulled the fish out of the water and off she went with my nice new lure. swivels are good for fast changing lures and line twist. although most people tie direct to lure as it gives more of a natural swim or walk, plus swivels will catch on to weeds and get you stuck.
  23. WOW!! where did you get all that from?( no need to appologize i wasnt offended ) ive been trying to find info but this is awesome! i have some swim baits, have a herring swim bait too. ill have to learn more about fishing those. i throw them sometimes but havent landed a fish yet, but from what i hear swim baits are thrown a lot with minimal numbers caught but the ones caught are big. i also have noticed people use really big swim baits, i have about six baits, all within 5" maybe i need some larger ones. any good articles you suggest or videos on how to use them? fishing here is a different world from what im used too. i have been fishing for about 6 years but only last year have i ventured off from my two fishing spots wich are maybe 10 F.O.W. max in some areas but mostly very shallow. i can usually see bottom. the fishing report this thread is about, i was fishing the lower part. (according to that topo map its on bottom of lake st. the single straight lake) think it would be wise to invest in a fish finder like this one? http://www.basspro.com/Humminbird-120-Fishin-Buddy-Ultimate-Portable-Fishfinder/product/97456/ thank you i really appreciate the advice
  24. I live in Ma. and to register my boat without the title they told my to stencil the vin number on a piece of paper. but im not sure if that would work if it was previously registered

i have been watching alot about frog fishing as i love to see how everyone fishes them. ive also heard some pro's modify their frogs as soon as they open them. my question is, do any of you modify your frogs and if so what do you do to them?
