My friends dad has troubles casting a baitcaster so when we frog fish he puts a spinning reel on a casting rod for the back bone. Seems to work fine, May look a bit goofy but who cares.

isn't the diameter fairly thick compared to most lines though?

But that only goes so far, some rods run softer than others, if you are gonna get a duckett I'd bump it up to a heavy.

What kind of mono should I use for cranking? Looking for something with a bit of stretch.

If you have docks with hydrilla topped out around it throw a frog in there, spinnerbaits, swimming jigs worked super well this year, T rigged worm.

Power pro or Power Pro slick 8, Sufix 832 is some good line too

Heard good about both rods, I'd go with the duckett personally for some of its features, I don't think you'd be disappointed with either rod

I'd step up your line size on the Spinnerbait rod to like 15

Anyone finesse swimbait fish? By finesse I mean 3 inch boot tails with like a 1/8 ball head. Seems like a good way to catch spooky fish in clear water. Any info would be appreciated.

For that price range I think a Curado I or really any Lews reel

the 3rd gen revos have a ton of issues, Abu Garcia's quality control on these reels is terrible

I use finesse jigs 3/8 most of the time but I read a lot of reviews saying the old Max was very soft

To anyone who has expierience with Powell Rods, is a 683 gonna be enough to throw 3/8 jigs?
