  1. I am talking more like using permanent marker on one side of the spinners on a spinnerbait, tying bucktail onto a lure, or changing the angle of the lip on a crankbait. But I guess all of us are not so ingenious ...
  2. What would you say are some of your most ingenious lure modifications that you utilize on your tackle?
  3. Also, Im pretty sure that sight trumps smell in the mind of a bass
  4. Well I never wash any of the bucktail that I tie onto my lures, and I have caught multiple bass on them this past year. I mainly tied bucktails on crankbaits and stickbaits last year but plan to expand that this off season. And ING, I'm pretty sure you are a worried about something that would take care of itself after a couple casts and retrieves.
  5. Hey guys, Which casting rod, under $150, would you personally recommend for use when utilizing Texas Rigged Worms or Creature Baits?
  6. Well guys, The reason I ask which reel to get other than the tautula is because my father really likes it and we want to get different rod and reel set-ups this off season so we can compare next year when fishing.
  7. This is a question to all those Daiwa Tatula owners/supporters and anybody else whom feels like adding their 2 cents. If you had to choose a baitcasting reel other than the Tatula within the same price range, what would it be and why?
  8. yes, francho it seems like Ugly Stik finally has a lighter weight and more sensitive rod, taht is to say comparable to what ugly stik usually offers. Definitely a great car rod hands down
  9. I handled these Ugly Stik Elites the other day at the local big box stores, and I must say that I was surprised at the quality of the rod. It honestly seems to be a rod that can be utilized in a workhorse or all around roll and you can almost certainly believe that it will not break on you being an ugly stik. The tip or taper was surprising fast as well, much faster action than the gx2 line and I own one. I will definitely be putting some consideration into buying one of these during this off season.
  10. Does Anybody have experience with the Pflueger spinning rod that comes with the president as a combo in most big box stores?
  11. Wow, I guess there is not much love for Diawa rods on this forum. Maybe I should just shy away from these rods then.
  12. Hey Bass Resource, So I am still on the fence on which of these three casting rods to get: *** *** Black Casting Rod 6'8"-7'2" MH/F Fenwick HMG Casting Rod 7' MH/F BPS Johnny Morris Carbonlite Casting Rod 7' MH/F I would like to know what baitcaster reel under $100 you guys, personally, would put onto one of these rods. Also, if you would like to share why you would put that reel on said rod(be it balance, casting distance, feel, etc.). Feel free to be detailed and share any expericence if you have used one of these rods with a certain reel.
  13. Sure, but the rod itself is rigid almost like it was corrugated or something, and I am more looking for a user review on the quality really than anything else.
  14. Hey guys, I seen some of these cheaper Diawa rods recently when browsing the various rods and reels available and I have to say that they seemed to be surprising good quality especially considering the cheap price point. Basically, has anybody had experience with these spinning rods, be it good or bad, and how was it?
  15. How is the Diawa Tatula as an overall casting rig? My father seen the rod and really seemed to like it, however it is made of material different from most rods.
  16. Hey guys, anybody have some experience with Fenwick HMX Spinning Rods for use as a lighter bass spinning combo? I handled a couple of these recently and they seem to be some really nice spinning rods at the price point.
  17. Anybody have experience they can share with the Abu Garcia Orra SX Baitcaster Reel?
  18. Thanks for all the replies guys, I am like a sponge just soaking up all this knowledge and experience posted of this hobby. I have found bass resource to be overwhelmingly better than any other forum I joined with answers and constructive criticism towards the posted topic. (I joined several at the same time being relatively new to fishing, however, there is not really a comparison, kind of like kvd vs real magic as line conditioners .... )
  19. Yea Gulfcaptain, It is less of me being cheap on replacing line and more of me being an inexperienced fisherman overall. I mean I fished much when I was a kid, but that was geared more towards live bait and bobber rigs, while I watched my dad pull in huge fish of all types wondering why I keep pulling in just bluegills. I really did not fish for aboout 12 years or so and have just recently broken back into the hobby in a big way popping all kinds of LMB on a local pond. Now I am targeting some northern pike for the colder temperatures up here.
  20. Does anybody else here on BassResource dress their treble hooks, on crankbaits and stickbaits, with bucktail? Also do people dress jigs for grubs or single hooks for rigging wacky worms and other plastics? Feel free to elaborate, as the first snow is hitting Chicago right now so I see a lot of hook dressing and other lure modifications in my near future while waiting for next season.
  21. Hey Gulfcaptain, You do not use that Medium Power Casting Rod for Plastics? Or do you just avoid using plastics?
  22. Where Do You Guys Purchase Your Yo-Zuri Hybrid Fishing Line? I figure probably an online site like *** or maybe a BPS or such, just figured I should find a credible source of what seems to be very good and very popular fishing line. Keep in mind I have not used this line myself, so feel free to explain or list, in your opinion, why this line is better.
  23. What Pound Test Line Do You Use, Personally, on a Medium Power Caster Rig? You can add whether it is mono, flouro, or braid and the brand as well if you like
  24. That is very interesting Preytorien, I will have to try that when respooling my rigs for next season. I have put the spool that the line comes on into boiling hot water before spooling it onto the reel as well on other rigs I have and they do not seem to have nearly as much memory. So you may be onto something here with the spool of the reel being submerged in boiling water.
  25. yea they have 1000 yard spools of cxx @ $12 of it sometimes at the BPS near me. Well thanks for your input, kind of an ocd line changer ... haha. at least i know I won't be the only one changing line so often then. Yea, at the peak of the summer fishing I was out there every single day, and I find myself doing the same right now before the season ends.
