  1. I've used them before but always had trouble keeping them on the hook until I switched to Owner. For the 7.5", I just purchased some Owner 8/0 Beast swimbait hooks that are weighted with 3/8 oz. Haven't got to use it yet but and planning on it this weekend.
  2. Very nice fish! It's good to see that you were rewarded with her for going out in that weather!
  3. Kewl. May have to do that before the fall semester starts up here.
  4. By all accounts, she is a great fisherman. What difference does it make about whether she is a woman or not. For those of you who may think she doesn't belong there because she didn't qualify on the men's tour, you have a valid argument. But I believe that she will prove her angling ability does belong in the tournament once it has started. I hope she does well.
  5. I like Ike to win this. Maybe KVD.
  6. There are no stocked ponds in the Ocala area. There are stocked ponds in osecola county. They are there to be farmed and sold as table fare. Im lucky enought to know the man who runs the farm and he lets me and my freinds fish the for free. Heres the website. http://www.osceolaoutback.com/ That's the one I was referring to. I think I had seen it before on an episode of Bill Dance. Like I said, I'd love to catch one sometime. My brother in law lives in Orlando, I may have to bring the baby to see his uncle while I "take care of some business".
  7. A review section might be good, but I'm afraid it might turn into another Shimano vs. Pfleuger war.
  8. For bass, central Florida, specifically the Kissimmee chain of Lakes. It's hard to beat Toho. Of course, this will also put you close to Stick Marsh/Farm 13. If you want to mix it up a bit, head to Miami and fish the Everglades. Maybe the most beautiful land in America. You can catch bass, as well as peacocks. In addition, you'd have the ability to fish many inshore species as well, such as redfish, snook, seatrout and tarpon. You could also charter a boat and go offshore. The dolphin will be running soon, and you would hate to miss that.
  9. Yeah, I know. But the allure of catching these fish is going after them in their native habitat. The places you're talking about are self enclosed stock ponds. Don't get me wrong, I'd fish there in a heartbeat, but I'd really love to go after them in Oz.
  10. Yeah, but I want to head to Australia to catch Barramundi. It's all about the experience.
  11. Here is a link to a pic of the dogtooth tuna. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.scuba-equipment-usa.com/marine/MAR04/images/Gymnosarda_unicolor.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.scuba-equipment-usa.com/marine/MAR04/Dogtooth_Tuna(Gymnosarda_unicolor).html&usg=__6twUZCWwkhjP_Uz2Nt7OSTXjMhU=&h=417&w=640&sz=84&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=Qe6FdPN-CBY-8M:&tbnh=89&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddogtooth%2Btuna%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4GGLR_enUS269US271%26sa%3DN
  12. Does a Barramundi look like a Yellow fin tuna with a Barracuda head? I saw this fish the other night on Natural Geographic but cant remeber its name You are thinking of a dogtooth tuna.
  13. There are, but I haven't caught one yet. When I do, they will be replaced on the list. The list never ends...
  14. One of my favorite shows is "Hunt for Big Fish" with Larry Dahlberg. On one of his episodes he demonstrated how to make "Mr. Wiggly", one of his favorite lures. Does anyone know where I can find this online? I've looked everywhere I can think.
  15. I don't know about you, but I have a running list of fish that I've never caught that I have always wanted to. What about you? Here is a list of fish that are on my target list: 1. Muskellunge 2. Lake Trout 3. Roosterfish 4. Blue Marlin 5. Amazonian Catfish 6. Halibut 7. Snook 8. Barramundi 9. Bonefish 10. Redfish
  16. Welcome!
  17. I am officially not coordinating this one. I live 7 hours away.
  18. Horsecrap. I have had the pleasure to meet and speak with Mr. Dance and will not allow someone to attack him like that. The man has done more than almost anyone to popularize fishing and catch and release. He is a member of the IGFA Hall of Fame. The man is paid to advertise and sell fishing tackle. I'm sorry that's too much for your "fishing integrity" to handle. So you have no problem being deceived by someone as long as they're being paid for it? I work hard for my money and if someone who is supposed to be respected tells me to buy something and it's junk, why should I respect them, regardless of what he's done for the sport? Roland Martin and Hank Parker are two of the biggest sellouts in my opinion. Bill Dance is teetering on the edge. Being deceived? I've never been deceived by these guys- I understand that in return for the enjoyment of watching their fishing shows, they will advertise for their sponsors. If something is interesting to me, perhaps I'll buy it. If I buy it and I don't like it, it's not because I was deceived, it's because I made a purchase of an item that was well advertised, not because I was deceived. Please continue to preach on about the purity of fishing and how Mr. Dance has damned himself forever because you spent $4.79 on a lure you didn't like. I'm loving your snap judgments of a person's character based upon his profession. Sounds like the only person deceiving you is yourself.

  20. Also, I don't know if you have children, but if you do, Florida has the lowest in-state tuition costs for higher education in the country.
  21. You should have been on here earlier. I put together several (at least 5) get togethers between 2006-2008. I have moved to Tallahassee now, but I always had the guys meet at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach. We had a lot of fun. I think we had about 10 guys coming.
  22. Really? You were around then? Or just happen to be a Postal Service historian? ;D
