  1. Lakes Ida and Osborne and the surrounding canals are about as far north as you're going to want to go.
  2. Oh my gosh, Dick. I can't believe a guide would harvest a fish like that! Guess I won't be using his services!
  3. You need to catch some zzz's. It's 2:30 and you're still online. Go fishing tomorrow instead of church. That's my plan.
  4. I don't think I've ever even seen an FLW event on television, nor do I think I want to. FLW has always seemed to be a lesser event than BASS, and I certainly believe that BASS has the more talented anglers. There are a few really good FLW fishermen out there, but NOBODY tops VanDam.
  5. Nice. But you're posting bail.
  6. Hmm. That's a tough one. I kind of always thought that there was never an excuse to be an a__hole. So what if this guy went to Boot Camp? That's supposed to instill discipline. So what if this guy's uncle offed himself. My father in law killed himself last month and I'm not out acting like a jerk because of it. I'd hit the guy with the bill to have your guitar cleaned/replaced. Your friend or not, a man needs to be accountable for his actions. If he's not willing to remedy a situation he caused, this guy is bad news and you probably want to distance yourself from people like that. I understand he's been your friend for a long time, but when people start negatively affecting my life, I move on. You might want to consider the same. Either way, it sounds like you have a difficult decision ahead and for that, I don't *** you. Hope it works out.
  7. No, I don't want to have to worry about out of state licenses. I've google earth'd the area but it's hard to tell what property is legal to fish.
  8. I am ooranmirag on Xbox Live.
  9. Nice, buddy. But now Christine wonders why I don't catch any fish since we're not fishing together as much :'(.
  10. Completely viable. There is absolutely nothing wrong with selective harvest, and in some cases, it is a better alternative than a strict catch and release strategy.
  11. Nice!!! I look forward to catching some smallies next time I'm in the homeland.
  12. Alright guys, I'm going nuts up here. I'm used to West Palm where there was a lake every 1/2 mile. Here, I'm having trouble finding places where I can bank fish. Can anyone help me out? All I have fished is MacClay Gardens, off the dock. Can anyone tell me where else I can legally go fish without a boat?
  13. For peacocks, you will want to head to Lake Osborne, which is in West Palm Beach, at the very least. I actually recommend heading to Coral Springs (which will be about an hour and a half south of you) for some of the better fishing. Remember, the peacock is EXTREMELY temperature oriented. So the farther south you go, the better you'll do.
  14. darling.
  15. Ok, maybe not Santa, but definitely the best present I got all year.
  16. Three new rod/reel combos, a bunch of stuff for my digital video camera, a new fishing bag, Fable 2 for Xbox 360, some Star Wars toys (yes, I'm 31), a cashmere sweater, and best of all, my fiancee had a bunch of my favorite fishing pictures framed so I can start a "love me" wall downstairs in the man cave.
  17. Tons of places in or around Stuart. Something you might want to try is fishing the ponds next to the exits of I-95 and the turnpike. They receive little fishing pressure and I caught nice fish from them. One of the things you'll find about the area is that it is COVERED up with areas to fish for bass. There will be plenty of places for you to fish. If you get the opportunity, drive an hour south and catch yourself a peacock. It's something that only a few members here on the site have been able to do, and it's a great fish to catch.
  18. I had pecan pie last night, but I'm about to make some homemade chicken and dumplins.
  19. I'm not gonna tell your son about this when he gets older. But you owe me.
  20. Welcome to the site! It is good to see that we're building a Tally population on here.
  21. Here's my PB, caught from a public park in West Palm Beach:
  22. I really like "The Hunt for Big Fish with Larry Dahlberg" on Versus. I really enjoy watching massive fish from all over the world. On a technical note, that guy is an amazing caster. He has pinpoint accuracy with all of his equipment.
  23. For me, it is so much more than about catching a fish. For me, it's almost a spiritual experience. The smell of the water, watching the way the fog hovers over the water in the early morning, the sounds the birds make as they fly overhead. There's no job, no family, no one else. Just me and nature. When I fish, I feel as though I can connect not only with nature, but also with myself.
  24. I think it's a bad idea to try to fish Disney without paying. First of all, it's unethical- you now know you have to pay to fish, and ethics demands you fish only where allowed. Secondly, you can have a great time at the parks without fish there. Third, there are PLENTY of lakes outside the parks that you can fish on and catch great fish. As far as peacocks go, the farthest you'll consistently find them with be southern Palm Beach County. I've heard reports of them found in Lake Okeechobee, but it is unlikely those fish survived the winter. That being said, have a great trip!
