  1. coulda sworn the section was called "my fishing tourney or outing" not "my bass fishing tourney or outing" Well, it is BassResource.com, so one would assume that "My Fishing Tournament or Outing" would imply a species of bass fishing. Isn't that why there is a "Other Fish Species" section? I mean, not that I don't get all hot over carp fishing .
  2. Not to be a jerk, but shouldn't carp be under the "other fish species" heading?
  3. Totally. With the lake being so low, it's a good opportunity for the lake to repair itself, as well as give the district the ability to clean the muck from lake. Long term, this drought may prove to be a good thing.
  4. Certainly the lake is in trouble, BocaBasser. Alot of it stems from the Army Corps of Engineers stubborn refusal for years to admit that there was problem with the dike. As for the SFWMD, I know the executive director and have spoken to her about the lake, and believe me, she doesn't like the situation. Unfortunately, there's just not enough water to go around right now .
  5. Yes, it is true that the Central and Southern Flood Control System was turned over to SFWMD for maintenance and operations, BUT the Herbert Hoover Dike, the navigational channel and lake levels and lake operations were retained by the federal government exclusively.
  6. Respectfully, you might want to check your facts there, BocaBasser. The Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for pumping water from the lake, NOT the South Florida Water Management District. The reason why the Corps drew the lake levels so low a year and half ago is because the Herbert Hoover Dike, which keeps the lake waters in their current boundaries, is not strong enough to withstand high lake levels. In other words, it's built like swiss cheese. Then what happened was after the drawdown, the drought began and SFWMD was forced to impose water restrictions because Lake O serves as the water supply for environmental, agricultural, and urban water uses for all of South Florida. I can assure you that no one in South Florida is happy right now. The farmers aren't getting the amount of water they want, residential users aren't getting the amount of water they want, and the environment isn't getting the amount of water it needs.
  7. Thanks guys. And yes, he does already have a rod and reel.
  8. One of BR's next members has arrived. At 2:15pm on Valentine's Day, Christine gave birth to Jackson Wehle Herbert here in West Palm Beach. He is due to fish Stick Marsh with Avid next Thursday ;D. He weighed in at 7lbs 15oz, and was 19 1/2 inches long. Here are some pics of the little guy:
  9. Representing Florida here. Just bring it.
  10. Yea, but you gotta give the fish a sportin chance. YOU give the fish a sporting chance. Next time, I'm catching and you're taking pictures ;D.
  11. Just another example of why God created 30lb braid .
  12. You probably want to use the regional posts portion of the site then. That's where people usually schedule get togethers on this site. The "My Fishing or Tournament Outing" part of the site is used to report on fishing activities and show pictures therein.
  13. Beautiful fish, but I was wondering the same thing myself.
  14. We usually do our get togethers at Okeeheelee. I'll put you on the invite list next time we do one.
  15. Really great pics, Triton. Even cooler story about the tagging.
  16. 11.99. Wait, nevermind. That's the cost of a scale at Bass Pro Shops.
  17. Perhaps biased would be a better word, but I recommend the Pfleuger. I like both manufacturers, and I feel that Pfleuger makes a slightly better spinning reel. Both are great, though. Oh, almost forgot- Welcome aboard!

  20. I don't skill nor instinct. I am naturally blessed with fishing ability.
  21. It's rainbow shad and you have to get it at sports authority.
  22. ABSOLUTELY you should fish. I look at every opportunity to fish as an opportunity to refine my techinque and improve my skills. I'm a little better every time I go out. You may not notice it, but if you keep going out you will be too. Eventually you will figure them out. Besides, one of the best things about living in Florida is rubbing it in everone else's nose that we get to fish the winter 8-)!
  23. C'mon Jimzee, are you really telling me that if a more presitigious job opened up in your line of work that would pay you more money you wouldn't take it?
  24. I have 12 mag subscriptions, but my favorite are In-Fisherman and Wine Spectator. I-F always has great articles.
