  1. ESPN's site is very user friendly. Just get there a little early (before 9). The draft will tell you what order you draft in. If you go to espn.com, you can run mock drafts to get the hang of it.
  2. That's really great! Congrats on your boy's first fish.

Welcome aboard! I used to be from Kentucky as well! This is a great site!
  4. Hey, it seemed to be working just fine that day...
  5. Now you tell me. I just bought some more Vanish. Oy.
  6. Ok, we now have eight. We still need two more. Do we want to open up the league?
  7. I believe Avid calls it a "pocket protector" 8-)
  8. Guys, I was using a clinch knot.
  9. I tend to "powerfish" more often than not. As a result, the strikes I tend to get are the hard, slashing types of hits that are hard not to notice. Therefore, the reel is more important to me- it's more directly involved with the presentation of the lure in the style of fishing that I fish. If you are a finesse fisherman, I would imagine that a fine rod is more important- as it translates more directly to presentation in that style of fishing.
  10. Still have spots open for a couple more people if anyone else wants to get in.
  11. It's the same reason we all buy stuff we don't use. You think "this is the one that will break my streak". I can't fish plastics to save my life but I buy them anyway .
  12. I think I'm the only one here that gets to lay claim to niksfishinmom.
  13. Nice fish! I kinda figured you'd you'd head out after I told you about my experience yesterday. Glad you made it worthwhile. What did you catch her on?
  14. I was actually using an improved clinch knot, though, truthfully I didn't really like the knot that much when I tied it and decided to keep it anyway...
  15. Moby, Rapalas are a wonderfully useful lure. Don't worry about buying only three of them. Believe me, you'll find them to be a great addition to your repetoire once you get comfortable using them. I have had sucess with them typically in the evening when I can simulate a shad or another small baitfish that the bass are actively feeding on. In addition, I like to use them almost exclusively in the fall, when the water temperatures are starting to come down.
  16. Avid, I'm laughing so hard I am literally crying.
  17. I only see seven people in the league- we still need three more.
  18. So I decided to fish the lake at the new house today and I decided to (gasp!) try fishing soft plastics. I was fishing an unweighted Zoom lizard in Watermelon with a 4/0 Gamakatsu hook and 17lb Vanish florocarbon. I was casting out and letting the lizard flutter to the bottom before bumping it a couple times and letting it flutter back down. Around 6:45 I felt a fish pick up the bait, but I didn't set the hook immediately. I let the fish start to swim with it for a few seconds before I reeled in the slack and set the hook. She immediately started to head back deep and actually took a few feet of line before snapping my line. From hookset to the loss of the fish must've been maybe 10-15 seconds. She was a big fish- I never saw her, but she had weight to her- more than I've ever felt from a bass. The fact that she snapped my line with such ease scares and excites me. I spoke with Avid and he's thinking the same thing I am about why I lost the fish- first of all the knot probably needed to be retied (the end of the line was curled up) and that the drag was probably set too tight. There's no reason the fish should've snapped 17lb test with such ease, is there? What do you guys think? Secondly (and probably most importantly), how do I catch this fish again? I took special note of exactly where she was caught, at what time and the weather conditions so I feel like she'll be back there again. When do you think I should head back after her? When I do, should I change the bait, or should I stay with the lizard? Thanks for your advice, WPD
  19. The plates are perfect for you, Chris!
  20. What about Lake Toho? Great big fish live there, it's an easy flight to Orlando no matter where you live, and the weather is always pleasant in February/March in Central Florida.
  21. I wouldn't say that. You're talking to the next champ.
  22. Beware the wrath of Baby Ninja, Riskkid! You may take a baby ninja throwing star to the head! ;D In all actuality, we have decided on names: For a boy- Jackson Wehle Herbert For a girl- Madeleine Morgan Herbert
  23. I'm in. I'll see if I can round up a few more people. PM New2Bass. He might be interested.
  24. Yes, Westpalmdude DID see this. As far as who is better looking... well, as long as my fiancee is happy then I'm satisfied .
