  1. So recently, I have been looking to get a dedicated crankin setup. As of now, I am looking at the Browning Silaflex rod which has Fuji AO guides and is made of Shoktek glass. Are there any other decent rods in the price range that I have mentioned (under 50$)?
  2. Because I have some leftover braid I don't want to waste.
  3. Has anybody ever used braid as a leader? I have 10 yards of braid leftover, and I was wondering if I should use it as a leader to some mono.
  4. The Sumpreme MGX is a helluva reel. Compared to shimano's in the price range, I personally believe that it will blow them out. Pluefger's are extremely well made and after having it for a month, I can say the quality and durability of my Supreme MGX stands up to the task.
  5. I got my Supreme MGX for 49.99$ at Dick's a few weeks ago in their 50% off clearance sale.
  6. Lol same. Fisher, are you saying you were fishing with 50 lb braid or 14lb suffix siege?
  7. The laser mg is a cheap reel. I have it, and the gears are not strong at all. I would probably go with the accurist or the Tournament MG on sale.
  8. Your welcome. Actually, the spool of line was a gift from a friend for my birthday a few months back. Now I know why he decided to give me this spool of line.
  9. So I have been fishing Sufix Siege camo exclusively for the past 3 months on baitcasting gear. All I have to say is MEMORY. That just about sums it up. For some reason, the camo version feels like a metal wire to me. Honestly, when I pull some of the line out, it curls up like a metal slinky and forms knots. I have had to cut it multiple times due to knots forming from the tangles in the line. I believe that the camo coating somehow causes the line to have a lot more memory then the regular line. But having said this, I have still managed to catch a good many bass on the line and it hasn't broken once yet due to fishing in slop. I would give the line a 3/5 rating because although the memory is the worst I have ever seen, knot strength and strength of the line is really good.
  10. yah give us a review on it after you have fished it. Up here in jersey, our water is still ice.
  11. Have you fished it yet? It looks nice, but we have no idea about the sensitivity.
  12. So I was recently tinkering around with my Lews Laser Speed Spool MG so that I could see the inner gears. But just today, after I put the sidecover back on, I found out that I couldn't take it off. Even after loosening the screw, the graphite side cover still wouldn't come off. Anybody got any suggestions?
  13. But then do the polymer cages make a difference between regular stainless steel bearings and PT bearings?
  14. Yah that's what I read on the specs. What exactly does the polymer cage do?
  15. Here is a photo of my personal best bass caught on a 6 inch watermelon seed t-rig weightless ribbontail worm.
  16. Longer rods are good for distance casting, but are not as good as shorter rods for exact placement of lures. The distance they have causes them to have less accuracy.
  17. 6 inch watermelon seed is great for fall and spring bass in Jersey.
  18. That's low... but you can get a older quantum accurist for around 50$ at ebay and it undoubtedly will perform better than all the other reels you mentioned. Or better yet, try to get a pro qualifier, but I think the sales have already ended.
  19. Always wanted a rod over 150$....
  20. I thought the quantum PT bearings were supposed to be a hybrid ceramic-stainless steel bearing?
  21. I have transplanted bass between private ponds. After swimming in a jostling big bucket (NO AERATION) for 15 minutes or so, after releasing the bass, it still managed to swim away after reviving it for 5 minutes.
  22. Penguino replied to Green Trout's topic in Fishing Tackle
What is the ned rig? Is it a variant of a Carolina or texas rig?
  23. Honestly, is there a difference in smoothness between the two? In comparing two similary priced reels, (quantum accurist and revo s), would the PT bearings make a difference??
