  1. good to know, good enough to earn the "Best $100 reel" title?
  2. haha I have this shakespear rod that reminds me of a super long soft spring, the slightest twitch will throw the tip 2 feet... I have no idea what you could use this thing for...
  3. pretends to have understood the joke.. wait, it was a joke, right?...
  4. I would go with the Tatula CT (or normal tatula, CT isbasically the same reel just smaller) Another good option is the Curado 200i, on sale at the moment in a few places!
  5. I started fishing with a stick from a redwood and some recycled line! Beat that! caught a lot of gills on that setup though, cant seem to catch them with an actual rod nowadays... :/ I've seen some people fishing for mackerel on the local pier with empty soda cans spooled with line, thats it. I guess you gotta make do with what you got!
  6. I'd take a Shimano Caenan over that abu any day. Reasons: - I trust Shimano. - They hold value VERY well. - Can take a serious beating if necessary. - Looks better, we can all agree on that. Right guys? I've been a Shimano fan forever, so take that stuff with a grain of salt. Everyone has their preferences. However, I cant say that I've tried that specific abu reel. and I do love my Abu Veritas, great rod.
  7. Do you guys use beater rods and reels for bank fishing? I used to use a shakespear outcast (like $11 new) and shakespear agility ($40 new) as a bank fishing/beater rod, that thing put up a good fight, lasted 2 seasons before I gave it to goodwill! I love having a rod I can just throw around. How about you guys? If you have a beater setup, what is it?
  8. I've never searched "ugly stik" on youtube in my life, but look what ironically was just recommended in my feed:
  9. I caught my PB on a Shakespear Outcast and a Shakespear Agility (baitcasting). Look those up. I'm sure a ugly stik is just fine for just about anything you can throw at it. (not saying it'll be comfortable) Sidenote I just realized that combo never broke after like 3 seasons, ended up giving it to goodwill... why did I do that.
  10. Holy smokes the scorpion looks awesomeeee! I would definitely pick up the scorpion!
  11. Dobyns Fury and PowerPro braid. There are multiple threads here about the best type of rod for a certain technique, depends on what application you want to use the reel for. Since its a 8.1:1 reel, I would get a Dobyns Fury 7'3" Heavy and 40# PowerPro Braid. You could use that setup for Frogging and Flipping, which are probably the 2 best ways to fish imo.
  12. tried the Curado and loved it, pretty sure I made a good decision. sidenote, has anyone actually inquired about your signature?
  13. Just ordered a Curado 200i, it'll be here on Sunday! Thanks for the input!
  14. Ok so I'm choosing between the original tatula 100hs and the Curado 200ihg, which one do I pick. I want to use braid, and I heard twing has problems with that. As well as flipping and pitching, frogging, and lipless baits. I need a general workhorse in the 7 speed range. So I figured I'd get some input.
  15. Decent rods and should cover your bases, however I would #ditchthegraphite as far as Baitcasters go and get a couple h2o mettle's for around $50 each, they have metal frames and are pretty awesome for the money. I had 2 black maxes as my first baitcasters, they both died in the same season of "normal" use Good little reels while they lasted, though. Havent used the Lews you linked, but I did have a Lews Speed Spool, the normal one. Absolutely hated it. As for the Trion, thats probably the best option for a inexpensive spinning reel. Sidenote, I see you're new! Welcome to the forums!
  16. hmm, if its metal, then the differences are basically none... I thought they would have went the plastic route like they did on the E series citica
  17. Does anyone know what material the star drag on the Citica is made of? probably doesnt matter much but I intend on having the reel for a while.
  18. Figure I'd throw this in, seems like the Citica has a ceramic line guide and the curado has a brass line guide, can anyone confirm?
  19. Oh! didnt know that! Time to get them to match the price then Are you talking about the TackleWarehouse sale on it? I'm not buying it now, or from TW...
  20. I'd be buying new in store with no discounts
  21. I never use my bass reels in salt, its almost like a sin to me haha, Good to hear!
  22. So I have found a few posts about Citica I's and Curado I's being identical except for bearing differences, is this true? Has anyone (who owns both) noticed any difference between how they have held up so far? Any problems that are citica specific?
