Spotted bass or largemouth??
On LOZ, you'll also find smallies.

Budget Swimbaiting
No. Just no. I tried that rod first. No. It's the worst thing I ever cast. Used Fury 795 or 806 come up all the time for $60-70.

Berkley rods and Havoc line
Havoc baits just work, but like @Bluebasser86 said, the good ones are now $4 or 5 a pack instead of $3, and they stink to high heaven now. The Pit Boss is one of the best creature baits on the market, flipping, pitching, punching, buzzing, trailers, etc. They're versatile as can be. I like to rig them on a BPS Perfect Worm hook, with like an 1/8 or 1/4oz weight for shallow water flipping from shore, using 30# braid on my 6'6 H Dark Angel. The hook is long enough to be right above where the arms attach to the body, meaning the fish can't hardly bite it without getting to the bend of the hook. Pick some up and you'll see.

Keitech on 6'6 rod
My most used rod length is 6'6". I have caught more fish on Keitechs with a 5'6" M casting rod and 6' ML spinning rod than anything else, but that's because I used them more when I tossed the shorter sticks. Now, I find myself grabbing a spinnerbait, buzzbait or chatterbait on a 6'6" MH stick and enjoying the heck out of slinging the blades around. Finesse to me, is situational fishing. I have a 6'6" M and ML spinning rod that I can fish Ned, light paddletails, wacky rigs, etc on, but don't use them much. Use what you want and don't be so concerned what others are using.

Why do some people pull extra line out after finishing a spinning reel cast?
I do it with finesse baits, wacky rigs, Flick Shakes, Ned Rigs, but it's done to allow the bait to fall vertically rather than to pendulum back towards me.

Most expensive lure
I lost a 5" Bull Shad, Jackall Gantarel Jr, Mattlures bluegill and SWaver 168 in the span of 3 hours..

Buzzbait tips
Next time I go float for river fish, it's a high likelihood that I'll never pick up a jig rod.

Fishing the Day After a Heavy Rain Storm
You're talking about one of my honey holes. I have a pond that I can drop Trick Worms in pockets all summer and simply clean up. It looks froggy as heck, but doesn't seem to produce for me.

Buzzbait tips
I caught one about 10" yesterday myself. No pictures.

Buzzbait tips
Well, in these winds, I did manage to stick the only one that bit, an ambitious 10" fish on shallow emergent weeds.

Buzzbait tips
I'm planning to sling it around a pond before I have to go to supper today. Maybe I'll stick one or two.

Buzzbait tips
Buddy, I can see myself getting hooked hopelessly on topwater. It's fun fishing.

Buzzbait tips
I'm fishing these in little 1 to 3 acre ponds, so the water is considerably warmer than on a larger lake. The one I legitimately lost yesterday looked to be between 3 and 4 pounds from about a foot of water. It was a fun 5 seconds, then my bait flew back at me.

Buzzbait tips
I love fishing them, just wish I had some pigs to hand on them already. The rod setup I'm using is my go to creek and river smallie setup, so I normally grab it and will toss spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, paddle tails, and light jigs on it. It's really an incredible stick.

Buzzbait tips
I'm tossing the 1/4 Cavitron right now on a 6'3 M XF Loomis SBR752 on 12# copolymer. It's more of a fast action, but should be about perfect, I'd think.

Buzzbait tips
Hey, until this year, I've never given buzzbaits a try, but the past 2 days I've tossed one for a little bit and had 3 hits. I believe 2 of the 3 were dinks, but the other one was a quality fish and he just came unbuttoned. Any tips for how to stick more of these fish and get them to hold? I'm using a Cavitron and love how it works and swims.

Watch your line
Most fluoro lines do stretch, but they do not go back when pressure is released. It's why I don't use fluoro at all.

Just pulled up to the pond

Fishing the Day After a Heavy Rain Storm
Man, I catch fish where water runs in, culverts, feeders, etc. I have one small pond that I need to go toss a jig in, but I've been doing well on paddle tails, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits around incoming water.
