  1. I had to replace due to an off the water mishap and used a mustad from Walmart. I am ok with the hooks they come with.
  2. 5 to 10 min. I have gotten other peoples nice lures out of easy snags, I know had to be left by tournament fishers. Probably some co angler that never got a fair shake at it.
  3. Love cranking the windy bank. although I do it from a boat. If the wind is strong, casting into it can be tough. I usually cast at an angle to the wind. You have to keep your cast low. I haven't done it from the bank, but there has been times when I let the wind blow me into the bank and cast from there.
  4. Lews bb1. 7.3:1 ratio to throw into the mix.
  5. I use a Rick Clunn 7' mh glass rod and a left handed Quantum PT 6.3:1 spooled with 10 lb cxx. I like the way I can feel what the bait is doing. I use both right and left hand reels but for the quick, target, low side arm cast, I can really get in a rhythm with the left handed reel.
  6. it's not IL. Around here I like Wisconsin and Minnesota but I am going to give Missouri the nod.
  7. Agree about the hang ups with the Ned Rig. I havent given it fair try yet either
  8. Great post Retiredbosn, Thanks, I have gone to 10 lb cxx or15 lb mean green on all but one of my baitcasters. Braid on my heavy pitching stick and either braid or a light cxx on my spinning. I used floro for a few years but it's durability was my problem. I do not cast conservatively and I will backlash every now and then. Weakness put into the floro from the small kinks was my biggest issue. I can understand why some fisherman can be more successful with floro, fishindad hit that. For this fishing Dad it doesn't fit my style or budget. My next line purchase will be Yo Zuri copoly, there is just to many good things said on this forum not to give it a try.
  9. Agree. I own the 73 mh which I have been pitching with but it would do well with a Deep crank.

I just watched Ott Defoe using it on bass pros and he was doing well. I have a pack but I haven't used them yet.
  11. If you are comfortable wih 4 then use it. I think it can depend on the line. I generally use the palomiar. You should do your test Using the palmar as well.
  12. The fish might like them... fisherman???
  13. I Liked all 3 on the home page today.
  14. Unusual, Are you sure you didn't cast it hard into something at some point and then it broke off later? I like your thread title. LOL
  15. Great story.. Good job saving the Hawk. While on the lake of the Ozarks there was a duck with a lure caught on his beak and breast. My teenage kids and I started chasing him down to save him. The squawking was getting us a lot of bad attention from others so we gave up the chase. We found him dead the next morning. It bothered me that we didn't do what was right because others, who were not in the know, just thought we were being mean.
  16. Agree. Just don't ask how to fish a Senko.. LOL Just a thread that got banged/debated around a few weeks ago
  17. Welcome to the forums. Lots of good people and useful information.
  18. Fireline/braid can last for years. Ive spooled it off and spooled it on the opposite direction just to get the newer looking end.
  19. Big bait, big fish. It has worked for me, although I've been told many times. Big bait, no fish.. That can be true as well. I like big worms and big cranks when I am ok with less numbers, but quality fish. You have to be where big fish are. In my local waters over 6 lbs is rare and a picture of them even rarer.
  20. I am not familiar with the rods you have so no recommendation. If you are having much trouble with backlashes it could be something besides the rod. Some lines cast much better than others. Trilene XL in a 10 - 14 lb is a good line to learn baitcasting with.
  21. Good luck, hope everything goes well..
  22. Very nice.. Sturgeon bay is on my bucket list...
  23. If you want more time on the water (from a previous post of yours), not buying those scissors would be a priority. :-)
  24. Sounds great. If I was closer I would give it a try
