  1. Spook if early summer morning Square bill or jerk bait is generally favorite unless I fell like pitching then I go with a jig. If I Can't get a shallow bite in 30 min i start working my way deeper.
  2. I thought you southern guys always had good places to fish this time of year. The lake I fish can be like that but I know there are good bass in there. it can be humbling when they aren't biting. For confidence you have to believe in your knowledge and skill. If you aren't confident in the place you should find a different one. How are other fisherman doing and what are they doing. The lake I fish has been slow and we are all beating my the banks. I've decided if that isn't working I am going to work deep structure in the middle until I can master that. We all like to catch them. If you are not you have to enjoy the challenge and improve. You do look look like a confident bass fisherman in that avatar
  3. i throw 10 lb pline cxx and it works great in the cover. keep casting in there, if you are in a boat you can usually get them back even if you have to go in and disturb the spot. Boat position and getting a good in there is very important. Getting hung up high is the worst. Practice casting to spots in your yard low side arm cast work the best for me. With experience you can guide your bait out. It can be rewarding go through the hassle of honing your skill.
  4. Agree, I use 10lb all the time. Long cast, low stretch, good knot strength and abraision. no hook up problems. It isnt for spinning reels unless you go lighter. I do use 4lb for spybaits on a spinning and it really cast out there.
  5. I've been thinking about dropping cable for an antenna. Communication cost is terrible. 110 for. Cable and Internet and 300 for phones. Drives me crazy but the family loves the phones / computers. I'm on one now. All my parents had to pay for was a land line. Simple. I'm not a fan of cell phones when I am fishing. I don't want to be bothered.
  6. I have a degree in management information systems and a minor in finance. I have been in the consumer finance business for 25 years lending and collecting
  7. All over as well. Usually use sk rapala. Norman and bandit just due to access. I do like the megabass 110 jerkbaif which would be the only pricey bait I use.
  8. Just said a prayer for you Tom. Hope you have a speedy recovery so you can get out fishing again.
  9. unless horsing a soft tip is your best defense. agree with the tip down to keep them down but if they are coming out, I want my tip out
  10. used to lift, but got busy with kids and it went by the way side. 12 oz curls now.
  11. I can make 40 yard cast with cxx 10 lb with cranks and swimming big t rigged worms and i never have a problem with hook ups.
  12. Wow. I didn't know it was that much. I am a big fan of pline cxx. I here alot about yo zuri co. Is it better. Maybe I should start that thread.
  13. I've heard kvd say on a good cast with the wind 150 to 200 ft. 80 will be fine. I have trouble casting an umbrella rig as far as other single baits anyway. Maybe I just don't have a good set up for it.
  14. I dont trust it unless you plan on changing it often. Maybe that isn't an issue with the higher dollar brands. I prefer 10 lb pline cxx co polymer for baitcasters. It handles well, cost effective and I trust it.
  15. I always use a trailer. Small grub swim bait etc. I rarely use a trailer hook but I know it is common for short strikes
  16. The ball will still work fine with the rust otherwise a new ball isn't much and it will look the best
  17. I use a double uni for the leader. If I am pitching a baitcaster I like braid but I do have trouble casting it. I can make long cast but occasionally it will just stop because it is wound over itself. I have on 40 lb power pro and it is wound in like any other line that isn't a problem
  18. My buddy saw one one chewing on tall grass which was hanging into the water Said he was chewing it down like a cow.
  19. I spooked two when they were in a shallow downed tree they both hurdled a couple shallow branches to get out. One was about 3 ft the other 4.
  20. Never a problem with them either on many orders. Although I have never had to deal with customer service
  21. Looked at them back in November but no where to get my hands on one and the reviews were few. I opted for a duckett ghost which I really like. Next stick may be a speed stick.
  22. When I am on busy lakes I rarely see people wearing pfds there is a lot of choices in life we can all make to be safer. That being said I wear one when I am by myself but usually not with others. I always wear one when on Cold water.
  23. agree... I have learned not to die cranking when the sun is shinning and the wind isnt blowing but I can only finesse fish so long unless I am catching them. I would then swim or crawl a 7" SK Anaconda green pumpkin T rigged 3/8 oz
