Do you think a chatterbait serves about the same purpose, or do you think the more steady action of the buzzbait draws at different times versus the chatterbaits wobble?

Yesterday, I tried a Z-man chatterbait, bluegill color. Wow, what a bait, love the action, love the look. I noted that the bait quickly got down into vegetation and got fouled by the slime. Surprised me that I had to keep it up toward surface. Was this an anomaly or do you fish them very near to the surface? Or maybe the weeds were just that close, but I doubt it, as we just had a ton of rain and the lake has risen about a foot in just days. Also, is there a model that you like a lot? Any tips on rigging or fishing it? Lastly, what type of rod/reel would you use. I saw a video made by a pro, forget his name but he loved using this 7' 3" rod that was a foreign brand, maybe Japanese, and it was about $600 and it was fiberglass and had a lot of "give" to it. I think I recall him saying that a stiffer rod would pull it out of the soft part of the fish's mouth? I know I've been out of fishing for years, do you find chatterbaits effective, sure look good! What a cool "invention." How/when do you use them? I think it was this same pro who said he thinks 3 colors cover it -- bluegill, shad, black. He also did not favor a shiny blade, said it doesn't seem natural to him. He liked black blade and said the vibration is the key.

Met a guy today with a brand new beautiful red 18' Skeeter with 150 Yamaha. Somebody won it and this guy bought it for $23,000, never been in the water. What a steal! I recently priced an aluminum Bass Tracker with 115hp Merc and it was $28,000, and this guy's Skeeter had two higher end fish finders. That buy reminds of my 2008 Nissan Titan truck, which I bought brand new when they had too many pickup trucks nationwide. I stole that sucker for $18,500, the sticker was $30,500; I still have it.

"The Sportsman's Paradise" is on my license plate -- Louisiana. And it is. But if I could live in only one state, it would be Texas. My gosh, there's an entire country over there, that sucker is BIG and the terrain and weather varies in the various regions.

I have never used a chatterbait until today; bought a 3/8oz Z-man to try out. I love this bait! However, I had a heckuva time with it doing the helicopter in the air. But I was also testing a new rod/reel. Which I also love! It threw so awesome, zero backlashes. But anyway, wondering if there is a solution to solving the no helicopter cast. Sometimes, spinnerbaits have done this in the past. I guess I need to experiment with different cast technique. I guess the other thing is since I was testing the rod/reel, I was making long casts. Extra energy probably makes the problem worse.

What is the longest of these type boats and whatever it is, is it still in production? I think I have seen one 11.3' long.

That is one I looked at, at Walmart. Wasn't sure of length I needed. It floats and I think it might be stretchy, which is good.

BPS has a BPS SPS brand 2 bank; it says 5/5 10 amp. So, I guess that is 5 amps per bank. Why do I care about amp rating, does more amps equal faster charge? That one is on sale for $120. Then they have ProMariner ProSport 12 which is 12 total amps for $130. I guess the 12 amp is better. I wonder if those shut off upon full charge. I guess that's a good feature. Or, the Minn Kota 212 PC at BPS is $200 but has $50 rebate, so, net $150.

My rope is not long enough, gotta buy another. Is there a type of rope that is best for launch rope? I know on thing -- my rope is maybe 1/4" rope and it's not thick enough for even my light Bass Tracker. I looked at some rope the other day and I think I decided 1/2" was overkill and 3/8" probably just right. But what type is my question. They make that stiff nylon but I don't like it, I like a softer rope that coils softly. Then, I think I will put a clip of some sort on each end.

Is this book about crappie fishing or does it also have a lot of bass info? But I like catching crappie, too. I have been meaning to order some of his Slider jigs/baits. I am very much interested in WEEDLESS finesse fishing.

Say you put on insect repellent or sunscreen. Do you think just plain old water is okay for washing hands or is plain soap needed to remove odors or has something else been found to work best? Both of those products smell so human, lol.

I had it on a light rig yesterday, should've had it on a heavier rod. And reel.

The majority of my time, I fish soft plastics but I do use other baits. I don't recall using a crank bait for long periods. If that's all they are biting, I would! I threw one for awhile yesterday and that was a squarebill that didn't run that deep. It seems it could be a fish catching machine but geez, that is tiring. I guess your rig has a lot to do with it. My gosh, it seems like it would wear you out if you fished it all the time. Are there people who fish these a LOT? Probably have forearms like Popeye. Do you think of crankbaits as an important part of your arsenal?

The price is good - $40. Says it has a lot of ball bearings. Hmmm...

Picaridin, at 20%, was rated by Consumer Reports as the most effective skeeter repellent. I found a product called Sawyer Premium on Amazon that contains that concentration. Supposedly safer, and more effective than DEET.

I don't see any indication of a sale. At $100 are they on sale?
