  1. I plan on picking two of these up in 130 soon. Got two gift cards for a new local shop and they are supposed to get fishing inventory next week. A lot of people tend to recommend the 130 size it seems. I hear the stock hooks are junk though?
  2. How do you normally fish the Cut R worm? I picked up three colors during a sale last year, but have yet to get them wet.
  3. Almost thought that was Falcon Lake color then I went to TW. Wonder what else they plan on sneaking in.
  4. Tournament Pro G on sale for $149.95 with free shipping from American Legacy Fishing right now. Just added an 8.3:1 myself.
  5. It's around $1.55-65 here. Just heard from my fishing buddy and friend I fish tournaments with that he got laid off. Kind of bummed for him and hope he doesn't end up having to sale his boat.
  6. All my chatterbaits have a keeper as well. The plastic will come apart before the lure slides off.
  7. My current favorites are a rage craw, menace or pit boss.
  8. Oakley has started to go down. I buy them because I can get them at cost. However, they are starting to go from American to Chinese and the quality hasn't been the same. They also have made it a pain to get replacement lenses unless the dealer is a big seller. Having said that, for retail I would look at Costas or an alternative.
  9. I picked up an Accu-Cull and installed a fish grip instead of using the hook. Still budget friendly at around $45-50 or $35 without the fish grip. I've heard some good reviews on the ReelSonar digital scale which can be had for $20.

They were all caught slow rolling it along the bottom, just enough so it was vibrating and bumping along.

Exactly how I had it rigged. Picked up a couple different colors of pit boss that I normally don't use during the Christmas sales. Lime purple passion was one color I picked up based on your advice. I never really thought of using them that way. Mostly used them as a flipping lure. I will definitely be trying them more as a trailer now.
  12. The Outdoor Channel.

So I got access to a new pond recently and have been waiting to fish it. Temperature was around 65-70 throughout the afternoon, so I decided to stop by. The pond was much larger than I expected, but very well maintained. Water was stained and the wind was blowing pretty hard. The wind almost caused me to just come back another day. I recently picked up some bladed jigs and custom spinnerbaits from @Siebert Outdoors and wanted to try them out. I started out fan casting with the spinnerbait around the pond, but didn't get any reaction strikes. Decided to try out the bladed jig in summer craw with a lime purple passion pit boss rigged sideways for the trailer; I think I remember @Bluebasser86 mentioning to try the pit boss that way. This was my first time trying bladed jigs and I pretty much learned what I know about them from reading the forums. Long story short, I only got five bites the entire day. However, I now have a lot of confidence in bladed jigs. Left the new Accu-Cull scale at the truck and was on the opposite side of the pond when I caught these.
  14. So true. I placed an order for some brush jigs. Now I have even more brush jigs, bladed jigs, swim jigs and recently picked up a dozen spinnerbaits. All Of these were purchased in the last 3-4 months. Excellent quality and Mike has always took care of answering questions or customizing lures for me.
  15. You may be thinking of Mike at DVT. He is a sponser and does great work.
  16. I will probably end up cooking Super Bowl food this weekend since that is what the wife and her friends demanded. Crawfish étouffée and fried eggplant.
  17. If memory serves me right, it usually goes for about $70 during the sales. It went down to $50 one time, but not sure if that was during spring sale or end of the year sale.
  18. A roll cast is basically a side cast where you roll the lure and release it underhanded. I use this technique often. Pretty easy cast to learn I think and one of the first ones I learned.
  19. Beautiful fish and a great story to go with it.
  20. Another vote for Siebert!
  21. Congratulations on the new personal best. I wouldn't worry about the expression, that's what makes fishing so exciting.
  22. That's pretty gnarly.
  23. I haven't had a chance to throw the chatterbaits yet, but plenty of people recommend them and have success with them. The quality is the same as his jigs. I personally use the brush style jigs because of the ponds and lakes I fish. Mike would be more than happy to help you select the styles that would work best if you send him a PM.
  24. Thanks for the pics @BassnChris!
  25. I have purchased a lot of stuff from there and never had a problem. I always try to purchase from a power seller or someone with excellent feedback. Sounds like someone tried to make some quick change and wasn't aware of shipping costs costs on a rod and used standard shipping on the auction. That isn't your fault and is the seller's responsibility when listing the auction. Most of the time I search the bay, I'm looking for a super deal and often include shipping costs in the search. I would more worried about the condition of the rod since it sounds the the seller doesn't deal with shipping them a lot.
