So Yesterday morning me and a buddy planned on going fishing but we had lightning and it rained all morning til about 11 am. So I just said forget it then it all cleared up but I didn't want to go home so he let me borrow a rod. The first ten minutes we caught one. After that it was back to back cast. We were both throwing a junebug powerworms I think it was around 7 inches T-rigged. In the first hour we were at a total of 34 bass because I had just called my mom. Then another hour passed we were at 52. twenty minutes later my buddy pulled in a five pounder it broke off at the bank he freaked out. Then he looked in the water and it was just sitting there doing nothing. So i reached in and picked it up. We had caught some four pounders that night but nothing at five it was awesome. we ended with a grand total of 68 bass. I will never forget that night of Iowa pond bass fishing.

Ok my dad just took my reel and there's a flathead screwdriver slot near the shaft he tightened it and i know longer have a problem is that a permanent or temporary fix?

How can I learn how to properly maintain my reel thanks for the help. I just didn't know if it was worth it to fix it if I wanted to upgrade my reel soon. I know a guy who is going to sell some revos for cheap soon.

Would It be easier just to purchase a new reel its pretty beaten up anyways.

Ok I have a Lews Speed spool Lazer Mg. I fished it two years. now when I reel in the line guide stays on one side and causes a mess. I believe it's a wornout pawl but im not sure. I want to replace it my self. Are all pawls interchangeable and where can I learn how to do this?

Ok I've been using the whitemax quite a bit lately it's handled well but I have noticed that the spool tension knob is too sensative if i tighten it too little it will begin to backlash but I can slow it down in time. Also makes an annoying sound after long distance casts.

That was me at first too... I'm sorry I think that the fireline crystal has pretty good knot strength... have you tried a Palomar knot?

buying a 30$ chinese "14" bearing first bait caster. I probably only caught two fish on it till i upgraded my arsenal. Lol It now is corroded and has plastic pieces... I'm still keeping it for memory sake.

Also the bass will probably be tight to the cover so cast past any structure and work your bait up to it. Try all the angles and patterns you can think of.

throw a chatterbait maybe also colorado blade spinnerbait WITH A TRAILER HOOK. If that doesn't work throw a ned rig you'll get more numbers than large bass but eventually you'll hook into a decent one.

I caught a 20 pounder on this setup just last week.

If your serious i know a guy who caught 20 pounds of bass in four back to back cast with it... glow in the dark version.

I throw a brush hog on a 7' mh blackout and pro max reel 4/O hook I target weed lines and small timber near the bank. 30 pound braid with leader or 12-15 pound mono depending on clarity I'm on a very tight budget.
