  1. i spool it exactly the same as i do trilene or stren mono which i never have a problem with. i love sufix siege on baitcasters but cannot get elite to spool nicely on my spinning reels.
  2. test out those propel systems before you buy one. IMO they are better suited to open water ocean or great lakes trolling than bass fishing in lakes with a lot of weeds and shallow water. the hobie mirage drive combats weeds and shallow water without having to take it out. for paddling yaks, native is a top brand along with wilderness and jackson
  3. it probably depends on the rod but i can tell a huge difference in weight and balance between my presidents and supremes. for moving baits a president is fine, but for anything finesse I need the light weight of a supreme to get a good balance point.
  4. I've never been able to get sufix elite to spool nicely on a spinning reel, it just wants to jump off the spool. how do you spool it?
  5. 35 is way too big. i'd go 25 in a president. could go 25 or 30 in a supreme due to the lighter weight
  6. no but many you can stand up in easily. if you have the money, get a hobie with mirage drive. if you want to spend less look at wilderness systems commander or native Ultimate. i believe both have motor mount options
  7. might have been a similar frame but pretty sure the PQ came out before the 1st Revo S and the PQ has magnetic brakes, Revo S is centrifugal. The old JM baitcasters were nearly identical to the old pflueger presidents I believe
  8. sounds like you want a jon boat not a kayak. find a used coleman crawdad
  9. I've only used the BPS speed shad and I like it. has anyone used both that can compare or say if the keitech is much better?
  10. I think the mojo bass version is $89 in the st croix bargain room
  11. the DSG by me sucks. when it first opened 5ish years ago it had a nice fishing department but it has shrunk every year since. only thing I buy there is line when they have good sales
  12. only 12 US supercenters are closing and they are opening more than they are closing
  13. pflueger Trion $40 + fenwick silverhawk on sale $60
  14. the reel is going to wear you out more than the rod will. are you throwing double 10's or bigger? if not you can get away with a much lighter setup
  15. you can still get the thunder bug on the mepps website. I kill the trout on a #0 or #1 thunder bug. havent tried the bigger sizes though
  16. Fenwick Silverhawk when they go on sale at cabelas for $50 or $60; way better quality guides and cork than a lightning rod shock.
  17. for bass and pike I always use a #4 or #5 dressed agilia with treble hook. I like the firetiger color.
  18. where do you see the supreme on sale and for home much? I tried adding it to the cart at Academy and it says $99.
  19. I really like the Pflueger Supreme baitcaster. metal frame, smooth bearings, can be had around $80
  20. well for one Quantum didnt make musky or walleye specific rods
  21. PP is ok but i prefer 832
  22. oh and they balance perfectly with a light reel like the pflueger supreme. i use the 30 size with the medium rods and 25 size on a medium light.
  23. yes it is the same level graphite as the avid and the new mojo bass rods. i think i'm up to 7 rage rods now and have the 610MXF you are looking at. the grips are very comfortable unless maybe you have a very large hand (I wear size large gloves and its fine). I'd personally go for the 71MF for the uses you mentioned. it is not avaialbe in the Rage, but it is in the Avid neo which is the same rod as the Rage but made for european market. I've heard if you call st croix and talk to the store, you can get two clearance rods for $100 plus $20 shipping http://stcroixrods.com/shop/freshwater-rods/avid-neo-spinning-rods/
  24. the rod and reel trade-ins are great if you have old cheap stuff you want to get rid of. stack that with the deep discounts on the BPS rods and reels and it's hard to beat.
