  1. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Lews-Tournament-MB-Speed-Spool-LFS-Baitcast-Reel-7-5-1-TS1SHMB-/131432410969?nav=SEARCH go to this and get the tournament mb. I have three of them and love them. If your putting it on a flipping stick the 8.3:1 is nice.
  2. Hey guys im selling some reels and was wondering what box you guys usually use for shipping bait casters. Do you think you can fit 2 reels in a small flat rate box? Thanks for the info guys.
  3. Hey guys Im looking for a new jig and worm rod. I want to be able to cast/pitch jigs and worms both out in the open and to cover like docks with this rod. I was wondering what you guys think would be the best length and action for this. I was looking at either 7'3" MH or a 7'4" H. I dont necessarily want these to be flipping sticks, more so a good all around bottom contact rod. Thanks for the help guys
  4. Hey guys Im looking for a reel to go on my new 7'mh Lews Custom Speed Stick Mag Bass rod. This will be a dedicated spinnerbait rod. Ive got it narrowed down to either a Lews Team Lite or a Lews Tournament Pro G. I will be getting either reel in 6.8:1 ratio. I was pretty dead set on the team lite but I have a few issues with durability of the frame and carbon side plates. I wouldnt say that im overly rough with equiptment but im probably more rough than some. So I was wondering if there was going to be a durability issue with the team lite? Ive read great things about both reels and was just wondering which one you guys would go with. Thanks for all the help.
  5. Does this rod have enough backbone for real heavy cover?
  6. Have you handled the 744? I already have a frog rod so the 744 could work for me. Hows the tip on it? also ive never weighed it out but usually when I throw a 1/2 oz swim jig im doing it with a gambler little ez as a trailer, do you think the 744 would be able to handle this with it being only rated to 3/4oz? Im sure it probably would but just wondering what your opinion would be. Thnaks for the help.
  7. Hey guys im thinking about getting the irod freds magic stick for a dedicated swim jig rod. From everything I have read abou this rod its a great all around rod that can be used for many things. I was wondering how soft the tip of this rod is. I will be using it to throw 3/8 and 1/2 oz swim jigs. I want this rod to have a soft enough tip to be able to make accurate roll casts and cover as much water as possible but also be strong enough to be able to pitch into heavy cover and be able to get a fish out, and was wondering if this will be the right rod for that. Thanks for the info guys!
  8. You can get a lews bb1 on eBay new for 125$ with free shipping I've got one in 5.3:1 and love it. Or for 26$ More you can get the bb1 pro for 151$
  9. Ok guys I think I have it narrowed down: Cashion 6'9" or 7' MH Fitzgerald 7' MH Irod Crusher 7'MH Kistler Magnesium 2 6'9" or 7' MH I know this is almost long as the original list but I think one of these 4 is what im going to get. Anyone own one of these 4 rods? I would love to hear what you Think of them. Also any insight to the 7' or 6'9" would be helpful. I have always used a 7' rod for spinnerbaits and can cast it with a good deal of accuracy. I was just wondering if there was any overwhelming reason to choose one over the other. Thanks guys
  10. This. They are not looking or 5 3lb fish in a day, they are looking for as many fish as they can in the limited time they have.
  11. I would like something a little more sensitive and the veritas I have has seen some hard wear and tear just think its time for something newer/nicer
  12. Hey guys I have a tournament coming up on the Roanoke River in Plymouth NC. We went and prefished yesterday and didnt have the best luck. We hooked up with a few decent fish early in the morning on topwater but it was very slow after that. The river has so much cover that looks good its kind of hard to figure out where to start. There are tons of lily pads which I think are going to play a big factor. Yesterday There was very heavy cloud cover so I think the fish were roaming quiet a bit, but in the last hr of the day the sun came out and was very bright no clouds. I caught a nice fish flipping a green pumpkin red Dbomb with a 3/8th oz weight along the edges of the pads. I think if the weather holds out on tournament day and its sunny Its just going to be a total grind fest to see who can keep their head in the game and flip the most pads. Now that I think I know how I will be fishing on tournament day I was wondering if you guys had any tips for fishing like this. I was thinking most of the day I will be flipping a dbomb and a senko around the edge and in holes in the pads, fishing a swim jig around the edges, and maybe fishing a frog over the top of pads. We fished a frog a little while yesterday but only had a blowup or two, but that was while it was very clowdy. But I assume if the suns out they will be more congregated under the pads. Thanks for all the help guys, Ill let you guys know how the tournament goes.
  13. Hey guys I was wondering if anyone ever uses straight shank flipping hooks for senkos in heavy cover. I have a tournament in a few weeks that will involve alot of flipping lily pads. I usually flip a senko with an EWG superline hook but was wondering in the heavier cover if a 5/0 straight shank flipping hook would be better? Just wondering what you guys thoughts on this were. Thanks for the info guys.
  14. Hey guys, Im in the market for a new spinnerbait rod. Ive had a 7' MH Abu Garcia Veritas for about 2 years and it has been nothing but good to me. I have it paired with a Shimano Curado 200i. Seeing as the spinnerbait is one of the things I have the most confidence in I figured it was time for an upgrade. Im looking for someting in the 6'9" to 7'3" range. I would like to be able to throw everything from 1/4oz finesse spinnerbaits to larger 3/4oz spinnerbaits with one rod but this is not the most important thing. I would like to stay around the 100-225$ range. Rods ive been looking at are these: Lews Custom speed stick spinnerbait rod Cashion rods Fitzgerald rods Irod Genesis II (stone cold vibrating jig, lone star special, 7mh) Halo Twilite II 7'3" mh Like I said these are just rods im looking at so I am definitely open to any other suggestions yall may have. Thanks for the help guys.
  15. Whats up guys. I have a club tournament on the Roanoke River on July 16th and 17th. We are putting in at the Plymouth Ramp. Me and a buddy are going to prefish this weekend. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for fishing there. From my google maps searches I have seen that we will probably go up river from plymouth and fish between the ramp and Jamesvlle. There looks to be some big creeks to fish in along that stretch of river and also a cut through to the Cashie River to the north. As far as techniques I figure shallow water will be key. We will probably start in the back of creeks and look for cooler water and work our way out. Top water in the morning, flipping soft plastics, flipping jigs, swim jigs, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, maybe hollow body frogs? I figure we just need to cover as much water as possible and find what they are wanting. Any ideas to weather we should key in on wood or grass? I have herd some guys from our club say that there are alot of lily pads as well so I figure we will try that as well. Any other Info would be greatly helpful guys. Thanks.
  16. War Eagle. I always find myself buying some other brand because they are on sale or a little cheaper and all the do is sit in the box and never get used. I have the upmost confidence in War Eagle baits.
  17. Hey guys im fishing my first night tournament with a guy from our club this coming thursday night. Its been in the 80's here with a ton of rain lately. The water temp is in the high 70's maybe low 80's. The tournament is 6:30 to 9:30 with a three fish limit. I was wondering if you guys could steer me in the right direction of what I should plan on using. I know the guy im fishing with will probably try and stay shallow. Im thinking of throwing spinnerbait, topwater and flipping a big worm most of the night. The last three tournaments won with 15.36, 16.66, and 11.84. Thanks for all the help guys. Ill let everyone know how it went on friday.
  18. Hey guys Im trying to tech myself to use the carolina rig this summer and was wondering what the best bait to use on it for numbers is? I was thinking something smaller like a trick worm or senko. Just wondering what you guys were having luck are. Thanks for the info guys.
  19. Thanks for all the help guys. Anything else anyone wants to add? And yeah I don't think my club realized there would be so many tournaments going on when they picked the dates haha.
  20. Hey guys I have a two day club tournament as a co-angler on Smith Mountain Lake in Va April 22 and 23. I assume that the spawn will be in full swing when were there. I have never fished SML but know that it is clear, which scares me because im a dirty water fisherman. Ive looked all over the internet but havent found a whole lot of SML around this time. So far I figure I will throw a weedless gambler ez swimmer in a shad color, I will have a swim jig to fish around docks, and will definetly have a spinning outfit with a wacky rigged senko for any sight fishing that presents itself. Other than that im kinda at a loss. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated guys. Thanks.
  21. I know Dave has a million different colors. Im about to make an order from them and am looking for whatever is closest to a simple brown and orange skirt color. Can anyone tell me which color of theirs is closest to this? Also any pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  22. Like gambler HC swim jig solid?
  23. Im looking at buying either the bullet jig or the swim jig from Siebert Outdoors. The only question I have is about the weedguard and hook. Are they heavy enough to use for heavy cover? I like to fish my swim jigs in pretty nasty stuff and like a stiffer weedguard and heavier hook on my swim jigs. I just dont want to order a bunch of these and they not be what I want.
  24. So what are you guys go to early spring crankbaits? Tight wobble or wide wobble? Balsa or Plastic? Small or big? Just wanting to know what your guys thoughts are on this? Trying to get some ideas of some things I can try throwing this spring. Thanks guys.
