Making Mop Jigs
Alright guys this is my first foray into tackelmaking! I looked at the buckeye mop jigs and was about to order some but figured I could make a bunch for wayyyyyyy cheaper. So let me know if you have any suggestions or pointers but here is what im thinking. I was looking at the classic heavy football jigs and the weedless flipping jigs from lure parts online. These come in 5 packs and are relatively cheap 5.50 for the 3/4oz football and 5.30 for the 1/2oz flipping jigs. Next comes the living rubber skirt. Im thinking of keeping these pretty simple. Im thinking green pumpkin, orange, brown, black, blue, with these colors I can mix and match to make a few different options. Im going to be buying these from the living rubber company. I figure I can spend around 40 or 50 bucks and make 20 or so mop jigs or about 2.50 a jig. That being said I do have a few questions: 1. Which living rubber should I get Fine, Medium, or Heavy? I was thinking Heavy for my main colors (green, brown, black) and medium or fine for my accents (orange and blue) 2. Does anyone know where to get quality jig heads (football and flipping) for cheaper than lure parts online? 3. How many strands for the skirts? I was thinking 40? Should I use more for my footballs (deeper water fishing) and less for my flipping (shallower water fishing?) 4. How long to make the skirts? Thanks for all the help guys. Once I get some questions answered and order some material I will post some pictures of the end product!

Flipping/Pitching Rod for a Big Guy
Ok guys im in the market for a new flipping/pitching rod. Im 6'7" tall and I am looking for a larger rod. Im thinking something 7'10" to 8'. This rod will be used mostly for pitching flooded shallow cover, mostly laydowns and bushes. I was looking at the Veratis 2.0 7'11" rod but was kind of holding out looking for something nicer/different. know Thanks for the help guys.

Starting a Shallow Crank Box
Hey guys, Im going to be getting a shallow crank rod and reel to use for this spring. I have never fished crankbaits so I want to make sure im getting the right stuff. I was looking into getting a few different shallow cranks to start out with . Im looking into getting some lipless crankbaits, squarebills, and moderate diving cranks. As far Lipless Cranks I was looking into getting some Red eye shads and some of the new berkley warpigs. I was wondering if i should get 1/4 and 1/2 oz or just stick to 1/2oz? As for squarebills Im looking into getting some strike king 1.5's and some berkley Pitbull 5.5's these two will cover me from 3-6ft deep. Lastly for moderate cranks im looking at the berkely wild thing 8.5's and the strike king #4 cranks. This selection of moderates will get me from 6-9ft range. What do you guys think about this? would you change anything about these selections for a beginner? and lastly what colors would you guys recommend? Thanks for all the info guys

Rod/Reel for shallow Cranking
Hey guys, just wanted you guys input about what im thinking about for my new shallow cranking setup. Im looking at getting a Cabelas Tournament ZX Crankshaft rod (7ft M Fast Action 1/4-1oz ) and pairing it with a Lews BB1 pro reel. I was wondering if any of you guys were using this setup and if you liked it. I have heard good things about the BB1 but was wondering what gear ratio would be best for shallow cranking ( lipless cranks, squarebills, and moderate cranks up to 10ft). I have also heard good things about the Tournament ZX rods just nothing specifically about the crankshaft models. Thanks for the insight guys.

Falls Lake North Carolina
Hey guys just wondering who on here fishes falls lake NC. This is my home lake seeing as it's less than 15 min from my house. I was wondering what you guys most productive baits and tactics were. I usually put in at ledge rock (I fish by kayak) and have had good luck shallow in the summer with soft plastics and swimbaits. I figure if there's an abundance of guys that fish falls we can keep this thread going through the year! Looking forward to some good info and talk guys!

Revo Stx Gen 3 Vs Curado I Vs Lews Bb1 Pro Speed Spool For Spinnerbait Fishing
Hey guys. Tis the season of giftcards and I figure I will probably get a few to Cabelas or BPS this year. With these I am planing on purchasing a new reel. I have it narrowed down to either an Abu Garcia Revo STX Gen 2, a Curado I, or a Lews BB1 Pro Speed Spool. I will be using this reel on an Abu Garcia Veritas and will will be using it as a spinnerbait rod. I will be getting this reel in a 6.4 gear ratio. I know these are three really nice reels and they all have their high points. I was wondering what you guys thought would be the best reel for my application of spinnerbait fishing. Thanks for all the help guys.

Lets Talk Gamber Ez/ Big Ez
Hey guys, Im looking at buying some gambler ez swimbaits. I was wondering which size you guys are using mostly the EZ swimmer or Big EZ. I want to get these becasue im looking into putting more time into my swimbait fishing and swim jig fishing. Which size would be best for just fishing with a weighted swimbait hook and which would be better as a swim jig trailer. I cant decide if the big EZ will be to big for a swimbait trailer or if it will be ok. I feel like the 4" caffiene shads that I have been using are to small. How are you guys fishing these mostly. I have read most of the EZ swimmer threads on this I just wanted to get some fresh info on these. Thanks guys.

Swim Jig/medium Sized Soft Swimbait Setup (Rod, Reel, Line)
Anyone using a heavy rod for this type of fishing? I see everyone saying MH but do you really loose doing this type of fishing anything going up to heavy? The only reason is because i would like to have the option if putting a 1oz or 1.5oz jig head on a swimbait to fish deep with it.

Swim Jig/medium Sized Soft Swimbait Setup (Rod, Reel, Line)
Hey guys first post here, This year ive gotten really into swim jig fishing and soft body swimbait fishing. Im mostly throwing omega casey martin swim jigs and gambler ez right now. Im looking at getting a new setup just to dedicate to these two types of fishing. Im hoping I can have one rod and reel to handle both of these. Ive been looking at the cabelas tournament zx rods, either the 7'1" mh spinnerbait/swim jig rod they have guy have also been looking at the 7'3" H frog rod they have because I like the idea of being able to throw heavier baits. Id like to keep the rod selection in one of the zx rods but im open to anything in the 100 to 150 dollar range. As far as reels ive been looking at the Lews BB1 and the cabelas verano (which I think is a rebranded okuma helios). As far as gear ratio I havent really decided on anything I was guessing either 6.4 or 7.1. Then theres line selection, I like to fish shallow most of the time near shallow cover so I was thinking braid but dont really know. Thanks in advance for the help guys. Look forward to hearing yalls thoughts.
