  1. She lives in Chesapeake so anywhere close to there would be awesome. I read that a small lake called oak grove should be a good place to start, I just mainly want a legal place to fish that could potentially yield a few fish.
  2. I'm only in Virginia monthly, and for a week at a time. She was wanting some places to go catch some
  3. My girlfriend lives in Virginia beach and I see a lot of potential places to fish, are there any good legal places to hit up around the va beach area while I'm town with her? I visit monthly
  4. With a bad shakey head design, you can actually stick the line tie in the top of the fishes mouth and have it for a second before it spits it out. You will notice this by your worm still being nicely rigged on your hook(I've landed fish on cheap jig heads this way). Also you have to have the right rod and a good strong upward hookset to get the bath to penetrate. I started off with a 6'6" medium rod with 3/16oz spot remover jig heads, if I get the barb in its mouth I rarely ever lose a fish. Spot removers are a little pricey but very easy to find, try some to rule that out before you go after a new rod.
  5. I like 12lb trilene xl for deep heavy cover cranking, I don't trust flouro for digging trenchs on the bottom, gets messed up very quickly.
  6. Pink flukes and roboworms work great, if imagine the cranks would as well.
  7. E6x would be competitive in the $100 market imo, there are way better choices in the $200 range. I feel a g.loomis rod doesn't really become quality until the imx series. In your price range you need to look at a st criox avid, I have a 6'6 mf avid for my jerkbaits paired with a new curado 70. I honestly think that my avids are as good or better than the new g. Loomis imx rods out today.
  8. Thanks I tried the search, nothing within a few hours unfortunately. So looks like I will be shipping off for the fix.
  9. I have a brand new Glx rod that I need a couple guides repaired. I would like it done locally so I don't have to ship.
  10. Because 15# braid is much smaller than 15# mono, I'm pretty sure 15# braid is 6# mono equivalent and 10# braid is 4# equivalent. I have a very hard time managing that small of line for no benifit to me, that's why I use 15# braid. And if I go with mono I use 8# trilene xl or suffix elite. And a 3lb bass can break 20# line easily in the wrong conditions
  11. I usually don't go smaller than 15#, 10# braid is so small and impossible for me to tie with lol
  12. I've never had any problems with mine, j have some 10,16, and 20 pound test that has been good to me.
  13. Shimano curados can be had for about $130 of the bay of e
  14. I prefer my avid x over the og avid, has a better feel, fit , and finish to me overall.
  15. Maxima ultragreen 20# is what I go to
  16. 8# trilene xl and don't look back, way less memory than suffix elite from my experiences
  17. The only time I fish them is from April to March ?
  18. Should I go with a 953 or a 894 for flipping /pitching 3/8 jigs and 3/8 tungsten t-rigs? Do I need more power than a 3 power rod for this?
  19. Hags tornados float like crazy, it takes about a hour for them to sink a octopus hook 5' it seems like lol
  20. In the applications to where you need a weedless presentation with the 3.8 and the 4.3, the vmc 3/16 rugby jig fits those perfectly! And you can slow roll it in rock piles for hours without losing one, it's my favorite way to fish them. I catch tons of smallmouth like this, when I feel the fish grab it I set the hook, reel in tight, and then I set the hook a second time. I rarely lose fish that way
