  1. Get him started right with a Calcutta 400D
  2. Any own a Diablo spec r? I was wondering how it would be for chunking 3.5" to 5" swimbaits? Tossing around the idea of buying a conquest 100hg and I need me a new quality rod for it
  3. Buy one and let us know how good they are ??
  4. It sure does look sweet, looks like it's gonna go for $329 at jls.
  5. You'll pay about 20 more on eBay, but at least you don't have to wait for it to be I stock
  6. I always preferred a mh-h rod for that reason, I got tired of loosing fish at the bit because of not getting a good hookset on them. I personally swim them as slow as the tail keeps kicking, but they have been a quality over quantity bait for me.
  7. With my experience of swimbaits and weed less hooks, I had a lot higher chance of a fish throwing the hook with a medium rid because I didn't get enough on the hookset. That's why I moved to medium heavy with 15# line and sometimes braid with flouro leader.

  9. Plus you can get a m1 and a Cardiff 300a and have a amazing setup under $300
  10. I've had mine for about 6 months now and I love it, definately an amazing rod for the money. Has great feel and sensitivity
  11. Maybe you mean swimming flukes with the paddle tail? Or do you mean super flukes with the forked tail which is a soft plastic jerk bait, which also can be used similarly to a swimbait with a under spin?
  12. Very rocky here, so I love the vmc rugby jig in 3/16 oz with a 4.3 in silver flash minnow. 7'1" imx 3 power with 15# flouroclear
  13. I always thought to go straight to the spinning set up, if he is capable that's what you should go ahead and do
  14. Since spinnerbait situations change a lot I prefer 30lb braid mainline, then I change to what ever size leader is good for the situation I'm in (open, grass, dirty, deep in water column, up in the top) that way I can quickly changes main lines to do what I want. Figure out how to tie the fg knot correctly and you can't even hear it slip through your guides(main reason I always hated braid)
  15. Funny thing is I don't fish any of those lures at all, I use the trick worms as tails for my rat. But that's it
  16. I could still do it, but I would have a hard time confining myself to one rod/bait per hour of fishing. I couldn't even imagine forever
  17. i prefer a mod-fast action, I love my Phenix m1 swimbait rod it's 8' heavy and it's a mod-fast bend. I even prefer this action for top hook swimbaits. Because I believe you need a bit of cushion for the bass to not throw those big baits on a slack line when it head shakes.
  18. With the raker 24 which is a three blade prop not a four, it was set low when we got it around the 5" zone and it spun out just as bad. We checked compression and plugs today and everything is as it should be still
  19. Megabass xx emtf 7'5", 16# super fc sniper, zoom z-craw California 420 color, 3/16 tungsten with a 5/0 owner wide gap.
  20. Well when we first took the boat out it was way to low actually like 5", then we lowered it down to what we thought was right but actually was 4"(when we got 45mph)now we have it set to 3 1/2" on the dot. What I can see is this is the right prop, I may have the prop sent off to have it checked to see if that is the culprit. The way I measured prop height the last time was level the bottom of the boat, level the cavitation plate. Then I put a straight edge on the ground and leveled it. Then I measure from the bottom of the boat to the straight edge, then from the center of the prop nut threads. That's how I got my 3 1/2"
  21. I have a omc four blade prop for the boat, but I know the hub is spun on it. I have to get a new one on it. I was gonna use it as a spare prop
  22. I planed on marking it next trip. I just find it odd that it won't plane, and spins out I figured they where both directly related to each other. But I very well could be wrong
  23. The process to get it up to 45 was get max speed with the trim all the way down then bump up the trim a hair at a time until I got it that high, it may have went a little more but it kept spinning out so that's as far as I ever pushed it, and i dont know about the water pressure at that time I was to busy throttle down and trying not to be overrun by my wake.
  24. 24 raker prop on it now, and about 4K at 45mph and it will fly wide open when it falls off plane.
