Yo Zuri Hybrid vs PLINE PF/CX/CXX review
You know Ive have switched to the YZ Hybrid 6,8, and 10 and love it. RW suggested it and Im really glad I switched. I just set up a frogging/heavy cover rod and saw some Hybrid 15 lb in Smoke in clearance and put it on the baitcaster on that new setup. I loved the lighter YZ Hybrid stuff so much why not. Well I hate it. As said here its very stiff (piano wire is pretty accurate really) and it does tend to want to fly off the spool. As far as the "I wasted time I can never get back" geezem...you were still out fishin ! Relax, Its supposed to be fun. ;D Im looking for suggestions on what to replace it with on that setup. Im a fan of lighter lines vs heavier/thicker lines. Mark

FishFinder Screens ?
I really never fish without the polarized glasses but taking them off isnt helping see it better either. The only adjustment in the manual is brightness and thats not helping. (except after dark I dim it down) You really need to be right directly in front of it...or it tints very dark. When its up front and Im trolling in and out of areas its impossible to stay in one spot so its aggravating. Im almost wondering if its working right. I think I'll contact Humminbird. Thanks for your feedback guys. Mark

Trying to purchase a new trolling motor.
You will like it I bet. I agree that there are always some bad reviews on anything you research on the Net. Look around and you will find someone ticked off with a $200K Mercedes. My response is I'll take it. Some is bad info...hard to tell what ones. They are both name brands. Hang some people with a brand new rope and they still complain. :'( Enjoy it ! Mark

FishFinder Screens ?
Had an older Humminbird...nice clear screen. Got a 595C and if Im not in the perfect spot its impossible to read the screen. Doesnt matter if its cloudy or bright. Anyone have this issue or suggestions on coping with it ? It drives me (more) nuts............ Mark

How often do we catch the same bass??
Casted under a limb and got a nice fish on....he broke off on a log. 1 day later Im with the wife this time. She casts not 5' from where I caught the one a day earlier. There it is in his mouth....remnants of a black 10" culprit with my weedless hook. Parts were missing and it looked chewed up but unmistakable. Very few fishing the 10" culprits at the time..Im sure it was my fish. :-) Mark

What the Pro's Use
Great topic IMO. I have to admit I dont believe a single pro when he discusses lures and brands on TV and in some mags...other than my own experience. The folks here I do believe. One of the best things about this site. I guess that makes me somewhat of a cynic...which Im really not in general. Mark

who is the best pro bass fisherman in the US?
He must mean besides me right ? ;D Mark

Easy to use depthfinder ?
So has anyone else had issues seeing their screens on the Humminbirds ? Im thinking if the screen is hard to see like mine I'd go with another brand basic unit. Mark

Firetails II
No problem BassJunkie. Im generally a *****. ;-) I used to fish them with confidence but this time around never do and wondered if anyone was still fishing the little buggers. Caught some nice ones on the firetail Sliders....seems the Senko's and others made them obsolete. Mark

Easy to use depthfinder ?
I have a new HB and am really struggling with it....... Am I the only one that has trouble seeing the screen on the Humminbird ? I bought a 595C color which doesnt fit in this catogory of price but wondered why I have a helleva time getting to the right angle to see it. My old Humminbird's screen was fine. Hate to steer him toward anything with this screen. Is it me ? Mark

Firetails II
Didnt want to hijack the other firetails thread...but want to pose a question. Ive started fishing last year after many years off and wonder what your opinions are on firetails in general. 4" Slider worms with the Slider heads were big when I used to fish and I used the motor oil/orange firetail alot. I did well with them. They dont seem to be used much or on the shelves much these days...anyone use them ? Mark

Bassin and Beer
Im not sure if a thief should be looked upon the same as someone enjoying a beer while fishing. ;D It doesnt matter really...I dont do debate forums and this is about fishing. There are many forums out there for folks trying to get everyone to think alike and follow whatever thier individual beliefs are. They rely on creating a 'herd mentality'. You wont find me there. I like the fishing info (and jokes) here better anyway. This topic was an real eye opener for me I gotta say. Lets go catch more and bigger fish now. Mark

Bassin and Beer
I agree with ya on this post. But I do find it interesting how intolerable some are on here. I think it is a little pretentious for some to play morality police on this subject, as if it is their way or no way. It comes down to free will, be it right or wrong it is still an individuals choice. Far be it for me to attempt to alter your choice in any decision you make. That is called toleration... more people should try that option. What if it's Illegal on certain lakes and parks? Should i just turn a blind eye and tolerate somebody breaking the law? :-/ Your exactly right. If they arent bothering you or out of line...turn a blind eye. Never sensed there were radical morality police here. I was wrong. Fortunately there are alot of rational folks too I see. 8-) Mark

4 stroke vs. 2 stroke
Its all a matter of personal taste of course. My experience owning both also is four stroke is the only way to go today. I dont know of anybody personally that went from 2 to 4 and back to 2...seeing and owning is believing. Same thing we've seen happening with snowmobiles and off road ATV/dirt machines. Theres a reason dealers are offering less and less 2 stroke options in stock. People like them. Whats 60-100 lbs in reality even matter unless your racing your boat or fishing big time $ tourneys every month ? These things fly...and they are really quiet and dependable. Doesnt make 2 strokes a bad thing. Just no longer my thing. I like backing out of the ramp and smelling the sweet air of dawn and hearing the loons. Thats why they make chocolate AND vanilla. ;-) Mark

Bassin and Beer
Thanks, Flechero. I tried to make that point a few pages back but it appears to have fallen on deaf ears. Again, one beer at 5 percent alcohol ( and most are actually a bit less than 5 percent) is six tenths of an ounce of alcohol. The average liver can process about one ounce of alcohol an hour. That means if the liver processes alcohol at a linear rate, the six tenths of an ounce will be gone from your system in 36 minutes. It would appear, from the facts, that drinking one beer, as opposed to four or ten, would be highly unlikely to cause any harm except for the smallest of human beings. Usually, the correct answer, based on the facts, is not at the extremes of the continuum. (The same can be said for political opinion.) Geez...Some folks I agree with. Nothing against 'not' drinking but get over the "people being a holes for having 2 beers during a day of fishing" theory.Thats narrow minded IMO. BTW,I know folks killed by DUI's too so save that argument...but whos getting drunk on 2 beers ? We arent 14 years old. Is everyone that drinks beer the town drunk ? My rule....cant open a beer til a fish comes in the boat. Occasionally Im forced to break it. : Mark

4 stroke vs. 2 stroke
Im pretty sure the debate specificly about lowest maintaince/highest reliablity goes to four stroke in most arenas. They are a tad heavier so pure performance out of the hole alone may still tip toward two stroke...but thats minimal in my mind. Unless your a serious tourney guy whos racing to a hole on huge bodies of water...its four strokes in outboards (and snowmobiles and dirt bikes)for me. Im not even sure most of those guys arent into four stroke now ? Mark
