  1. At present I have a MinnKota MK345PC on-board marine battery charger. I've believe the charger overheated with possible temp sensor damage. I am in the process of more diagnosis but am thinking I will need to replace this charger due to being informed by MinnKota no servicing of charger components are available. My question to all and everyone is what would be a good marine battery 3 bank on-board charger? Other than MinnKota, due to the expense, I would sure appreciate any recommendations!
  2. If this Expo in Richmond is anything like the Expo in Raleigh everyone in Richmond are in for a treat. Living in Greensboro I would be in Richmond if I didn't already have a prior event. "Geaux Tigers!" Either one but mainly LSU!.
  3. Thank you Sir for your suggestions. I sure would have got back to you earlier but had a Football game to get to in Hot- Lanta, Ga.
  4. I have to add this comment. Years ago when I started to use fluorocarbon line I kept breaking off everything. I kept changing line thinking it was a bad spool of fluoro. Later I found that to be wrong it was the knot I uses. I had always used the Palomar know for everything. Now through advise of a fellow fishermen I use, specially with fluorocarbon line, a knot I saw Shaw Grigsby demonstrate online I call the Grigsby Knot. I would try to explain how to tie this knot but it is a bit involved so I strongly advise going online and search "Shaw Grigsby and the best knot for Fluorocarbon"
  5. Big'un thanks for you response and the last line I brought up is Bass Pro Shop's XPS line.
  6. Out of the above brands of regular Mono fishing lines, Pline, Sufix, Trilene, BPS XRS, like to get some feedback as to which would be the preferred to use. Not primarily fishing rocks or heavy cover but open water. Sure would like some feedback?
  7. Looks as though the weather isn't going to be white flakes falling from the sky and air temperatures in the 40*s. In that case I hope to make a short trip to Jordan Lake just East of Pittsboro, NC and chase a few Bass. My question is "Who's heading to Jordan Lake to try out those special Christmas Fishing gifts on the water?
  8. Thanks to you all, just returned late yesterday afternoon. Did catch a few but not really any big girls. I took your suggestions, Chris, by pitching a shakeyhead trickworm and a Jig to flipping a creature style bait close to standing timber and lay down structure. With water surface temps at or below mid 40* everything was worked SSSLLLOOOWWW.
  9. Thanks Sam and Hope you and your family have a Great and Happy Holiday! Also hope you have a Happy New Year and in the year 2020 catch a load of fish.
  10. My friend's Kistler rod did have a small schader type valve located under the but cap which was green. He informed me as the rod began to loose its gas the valve would turn a tint of red. Really glad my Dobyns rod has a fain beep when it reaches a 50 hour usege period. Guess there is a catch to everything.
  11. Lookin' for reviews of K-9 Braid line as well as their Fluorocarbon line and Mono line as well. I do know their K-9 braid is much quieter than Power Pro braid as it comes off the baitcaster spool.
  12. Got a little event for all active and retired military. I'm in Greensboro, NC and Fayetteville, NC (Ft. Bragg along with Pope AFB)is just South of here. Each year for the past 15 years a Warriors On The Water Tournament is held on Jordan Lake East of Raleigh, NC where we meet and take an active Duty along with Non-active duty Soldier out for a day on the lake in an military appreciation Tournament. Check out the web site at Warriors On The Water
  13. Had thought of heading to Mayo Res in Person County, North Carolina this morning but 35* turned me right around and back between the sheets. 35 years ago and it wouldn't have slowed me down but not this morning. Merry Christmas Everyone and God be with all in there travels to their Family gatherings where ever they may be.
  14. I understand Birdman. Was contacted by friend I've fished with who has a Kistler he wants me to try out. Although didn't go to the water did some "backyard fishing" and I have to say "Nice"! As originally asked about the Kistler rods I now know. Thanks Scott for dropping by.
  15. Back of Flat Swamp and or Abbots Creek. One thing to watch out for is rising water level can trap you in that particular creek!
  16. Yeah! Why would I spend $300.00 for a gas filled fishing rod that I'll have to go to an auto Parts store to buy the gas in fluid form to recharge the rod? Now that doesn't make since at all.
  17. I appreciate your recommendation. I was informed the Kistler rods are filled with Helium. what warranty covers the possibility the gas leaks out the rod? What guaranty this doesn't happen?
  18. Been going to the ICRBE in Winston for the past 4 years since I live in Greensboro just down Interstate 40/85 from Winston. Each year I swear I won't buy a thing just look at what is new for that year. Well last year I got components for a New Rod build, DAM! This year probably going to get several sets of new micro guides and materials to do maintenance and upgrades to some older rods I have. That is what I plan but who knows it is December 2019!
  19. Curious about Kistler Helium Rods. I've used the Dobyns Champion Extreme Series rods all my Bass fishing life and often wondered but never asked What makes the Kistler Helium rods so good?
  20. Hey Sam just got an order in from Laplace, La. of the best Andouille God ever showed man how to make. Place there in Laplace is called Jacob's World Famous Andouille since 1928. Been getting Andouille from there for I don't know how long and it is the best. Makes the best Red Beans you ever had I gua-ran-tee! LOL! Check it out online Jacob's World Famous Andouille.
  21. you guys ever get near Greensboro on one of the lakes like Macintosh, Belews Creek give me a shout.
  22. I'm Bass fishing in The Piedmont lakes of NC and normally not during the colder winter months but want to give it a go before Christmas. I have but a couple questions, what baits or technique might work better? Most lakes around here have a slight stain yet not muddy color and at present surface temps at mid to high 40* Bad thing, for me, is at present air temps are at same temps mid to high 40*. Thank Guys.
  23. Living in The Piedmont of NC and chase Bass in mainly those lakes within an hour or so from Greensboro. At present air temperatures are at high 40* with water temperatures of close to the same. I really hope to contribute as much as I can here and maybe gain some information from everyone.
  24. Good to see a LSU fan in this part of the country especially in The state of Virginia. I'm in Greensboro, NC and go to Buggs Island a lot where I use to have a camper in Little Nutbush Creek at Steele Creek Campground. Now I mainly fish those lakes fairly close to home. As far as watching Joe Burrow(Burreaux) in his speech, really moving. As far as who the Tigers play, like Coach O said in an interview, "We don't care anyone anytime any place!" that says it all. I have family in Slidell, La and at this time of year really miss all the Christmas things going on down there especially the King Cakes.
  25. Living in Central North Carolina looking for anyone who may have Bass fished one of Greensboro's city lakes, Townsend, Brandt, or Higgins? Haven't fished either in God knows how long ago.
