Maryland's Who's who!
Caught a 1lber at Elkhorn on the Spro Rat at night...then had a good strike and hook up on what felt like a 3lber but he shook it. Next cast, hit a tree and the rat broke?!!? Half the body is gone...looks like I need to invest in one of the wooden rats that several companies make.

Maryland's Who's who!
Thanks Bunnielab! I have tried there a couple times and was skunked one time and caught one little one the next time. With that said I didnt take my yak so that is a good idea I may try out. I just went and got my permit for waterworks so may try that instead tomorrow.

Maryland's Who's who!
Been fishing Lake Elkhorn mostly the last couple weeks. Best has been a 2.3lber Elkhorn bass but I know there are some bigger ones in there. Thinking about trying a pond /Lake to put my yak in this weekend. Anyone have any recommendations? Thinking about trying Lake Roland as its been a few years since the drainage.

Maryland's Who's who!
Think it was mid to late April before topwater turned on ...but we had ice on the water still at this time last year. So hopefully in the next 3- 4weeks. I had good success with hula poppers and heddon torpedos for April and May and then June through September was all frogging.

Maryland's Who's who!
Went out yesterday to Lake Elkhorn and got my first (4) fish of the season. Nothing special in size, but nice to be catching bass again... Mostly caught on Mepps inline spinners.

Maryland's Who's who!
Sounds good, I remember you from Reddit and the great fish you caught at culler. Sucks about Culler, had some nice fish in there and didn't have to walk 3 miles to cover the lake.

Maryland's Who's who!
Anyone try large swimbaits in MD? I have gotten really interested in it this winter and got a few larger baits (8" and 6" Hudds, Spro Rats, Jackall Ganterel, etc...) I figured at the least, I could get some of the larger pickerel to take some swipes at them. Just curious if anyone has had much success...

Maryland's Who's who!
I will hit you up if I go back out... Only have my heavy kayak so I actually head out to Columbia more than Magothy. Tried Waterford yesterday for crappie/sunfish/stray bass and nothing.

Maryland's Who's who!
Took me several days, but I made it through this thread(thanks to the snow). What a great wealth of info and community. I usually fish the Columbia Lakes(and occasionally Culler Lake) from Spring to Fall in the early early morning before work and try to get out once a weekend. As a relative noobie (fished of course as a kid and occasionally on vacations) I focused on topwater last year most of the year. I really got back into fishing 2 years ago (thanks to the economy). I started at Elkhorn fishing squarebills, lipless, and some jigs. This year I need to focus more on jigs and worms but I know once the summer hits I will be back to froggin, cant resist that topwater bite! Anyway just wanted to introduce myself officially and if you fish Elkhorn you may see me around and probably occasionally at Culler. I have a kayak and if any of you would like to setup a yak outing this year i'd be interested. (Have only taken it out on Mattawoman Creek and Elkhorn.) Tight Lines! Gerry

You are in Pasadena? I am also... Do you ever fish on the Magothy or surrounding rivers/creeks? I hear there are some LM further inland in some of these rivers/creeks. I wish Lake Waterford is as good as Elkhorn... Great! Thanks for the advice!

I usually fish the Columbia lakes but hope to spread out to the larger bodies if water this year. Also would love to catch a smallmouth.

New Lew's TPG1SH and Ducket Ghost 7MH. Love the reel and so far really like the Ghost. I know Duckett has some quality issues but am hoping for the best. All the guides are lined up and not bent and I love the sensitivity so far. New Pinnacle DHC5 coming next week I cant wait to try I bought with gift cards.
