  1. If I am going to long term marry one rod manufacturer (that is not G Loomis) it is going to be St. Croix. Their customer service is solid and they have a good accidental damage replacement policy. I am confident I could cover every rod I need $200 at a time from the Avid line and be happy.
  2. 1- Curado 200iPG - Crankbait 1- Curado 200i - topwater/jerkbait 1- Curado 200iHG - All Around
  3. Nice man. That is a beautiful reel. I got a new handle today too...
  4. Yeah. I talked to my contact today and he said Loomis told him March 22nd for the 785 and no exact date for the 845. I was leaning towards the 785 anyways, so for now that is the plan.
  5. I just got word that both the 785 and 845 are on backorder from G Loomis...
  6. Considering a well bought Curado runs ~$140, I wonder what the street price of these will be. If you can get into one for ~$65-$70 it could be a good value.
  7. Haha...sounds familiar. I see your location is GTO...new or old?
  8. Thanks Raul...that is what I was thinking. Now just to decide on the 785 or 845. I generally prefer a shorter rod because I do a lot of bank fishing that can get tight with trees, but I also like to be able to bomb them out there...hmm
  9. I was looking for a rod to fish 1/4oz-1/2oz shallow squarebill and lipless cranks. I ordered a 783 CBR. It is a beautiful rod and CRAZY light...even compared to my other GLX and NRX. It just seems really soft to me. Does this rod have more backbone when fished than it feels like? I am considering exchanging it for a 785 or maybe even the 843 or 845. I know the recommended lure size of the 5 power rods on the lower end is 3/8oz. Has anyone thrown 1/4oz stuff with one? The 783 is a GREAT rod...super light, super sensitive, but I just can't get past the soft feeling...Is it just in my head? If anyone has some solid experience with the GLX CBR line could give me their thoughts it would be much appreciated. Like said, I would like to use it for 1/4oz-1/2oz hard baits...Lipless cranks, shallow squarebills, Rapala Shallow runner shadrap, etc...also maybe some topwater treable hook stuff like Jitterbug, Super Spooks, Poppers...
  10. I absolutely love my '13 Metanium. I am putting serious consideration into sell my Chronarch CI4+ to pick up a '16 Metanium.
  11. I have only used one truly great crankbait rod. I know there are others out there, but I can not say enough good things about the Loomis GLX CBR rods. I use the 783 because I fish a lot from wooded shores and like a shorter rod. Check out this article about them... http://www.tackletour.com/reviewgloomisnewglxcrankingrod.html
  12. No. I only own Blue. Like I said, my preference is purely Aesthetic. I can not intelligently comment on the difference in sensitivity. I am pretty confident I would not be able to feel the difference.
  13. Aesthetics...and I don't think I am alone. There is a reason they sold way more blue and are discontinuing/blowing out the green. The blue NRX is iconic in my opinion. The green looks like every other rod on my rack.
  14. Six one, half dozen the other IMHO. Try them both and see which you like better for which application.
  15. Maybe I am in the minority, but I much prefer the blue.
  16. What kind of budget do you have in mind? I have always been a fan of St. Croix Premier rods for loaners. Good enough that I never mind using them, but not so expensive or treasured that I will be upset if they are mistreated. Also, St. Croix is blowing out there old Rage rods. You can pick up a 7'1" Med-Heavy Fast for crazy cheap...like $70 if you call them.
  17. Good stuff. That is pretty much the same stuff I throw on my Stradic CI4+/5'6" St. Croix Premier rig.
  18. This. Definitely this. Oh man. I am so tempted to do a heavy setup with a Conquest 51DC and 854C. ...at least a Twinpower. I mean this is a NRX we are talking about.
  19. Metanium....the NRX deserves it!...lol http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd214/TahoeDust/IMG_1145.jpg
  20. Yep. Twice. Caught two on it this afternoon.
  21. Did Loomis make it right? Let me guess, the NRX is the same blank as the IMX. Just like the Rage is the same blank as the Avid?
  22. I am great at spending other people's money.
  23. I buy from G Loomis and St. Croix. Both have a great replacement program for accidental damage. ~$100 and a new rod is at my door in a couple day. Life is too short and leisure time is too limited to not fish with what I want.
  24. Awesome man. I will get after them. I have been down in Florida for the last month or so but will be back up there in the next week. What are the fish doing up there? Pre-spawn? Have they gotten on bed yet? Thanks
  25. Beautiful fish! I see you are close by. I am new to the area. You need to clue me in to this "spot"
