  1. I would shake the couch cushions for another 16 dollars than put this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011A4IDOO?keywords=shimano%20stradic&qid=1456975285&ref_=sr_1_1&s=hunting-fishing&sr=1-1 on this: https://www.*.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=GLoomis%2DNRX802SJWR&e=Y and use coupon code 25newc for another $25 off
  2. How do these compare to a Rarenium CI4+ or a Twin Power?
  3. Funny you mention this. I saw something about Berkley Black Velvet on another site that caught my eye, but then I could not find anyone that sold it here in the US.
  4. A couple more glamour shots... This makes for a spectacular shallow crank setup...Chronarch 151 w/ some Avail bling and carbon handle on a Loomis GLX 783 crankbait rod... The best bang for the buck reel on the market...Curado 201i with a carbon handle on a IMX 812 Spinnerbait rod...
  5. No laughing here man. I hope it treats you well. I have not owned one, but I hear they are great rods.
  6. Wow man, that is a real bummer. What are you going to get in place of it?
  7. Thanks man. Let's hope it performs as good as it looks. Feels great in the front yard casting 1/4oz-1/2oz....lol
  8. They are more powerful than they feel. Don't be scared to yank on that thing. I think you will be surprised.
  9. I have become a big fan of this shop. They also have smoking deals on G Loomis rods. ~30% off IMX, GLX, and NRX rods. I have ordered 3 in the last few weeks and they have been great to deal with.
  10. Here is this years full starting lineup...left to right... Stradic CI4+ 1000FA on a St. Croix Premier 5'6" Light/Fast Chronarch CI4+ 151 on a G. Loomis GLX 783C CBR 6'6" Medium/Moderate '13 Metanium 101 on a G. Loomis NRX 803C JWR 6'8" Med-Heavy/Ex-Fast Stradic 2500FK on a G. Loomis GLX 783S JWR 6'6" Med-Heavy/Fast Curado 201i on a G. Loomis IMX 812C SBR 6'9" Medium/Fast
  11. Interesting. So you think your MH Croix is heavier than your Loomis MH? Edit: Nevermind, I had something crossed in my mind. What you said sounds right and is my experience as well.
  12. Yep, that is mine in the picture. When my last GLX arrived damaged, I took that as a sign to go for the NRX. My buddy had been razzing me saying the Metanium deserved better than "just a GLX"...lol Scott at Monster was awesome and took care of getting the GLX headed back to Loomis and the NRX on the way. I have not gotten a chance to fish it yet, so I can't really make a and educated assessment. I can say that it is extremely light and absolutely beautiful build quality...but then again so is the GLX. I do really like the Blue, I know some don't. It also came with a G Loomis rod sock which is a nice touch. Honestly, if the combo fishes as good as it feels in my hands I am going to be very happy.
  13. Here is the newest weapon. Loomis NRX 803C JWR - '13 Metniuam 101 w/ Microcast Shallow Spool, Studio Composite Hande, & Avail Bling
  14. Awesome man. Mine just came in Friday. It casts great in the front yard...lol. Hopefully I will get over to the lake this afternoon.
  15. You have not received yours yet?
  16. I am not going to waste your time and repeat the good information that is already in this thread. I will tell you that it is well worth the effort and time to become proficient with a baitcaster. I was strictly a spinning setup guy for a long time...I did not know what I was missing. A well balanced, well tuned, and well kept baitcaster is an absolute bass slaying machine.
  17. Meh...Outside of probably a Stella I would never send a reel in for warranty work anyways. Generally parts that fail are not that expensive and I prefer to do work myself. I would think most enthusiasts are the same way.
  18. It really depends on budget. The president is a fine reel, but I definitely prefer the Stradic. If you can say what you are wanting to spend on the combo, we may be able to make a good recommendation. If you are wanting best bang for the buck I would go with a Pflueger Supreme XT size 30 which can be had for ~$120 and a St. Croix Rage 6'10" MXF which you can get for $90. For just over $200 you have a very nice performing combo. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pflueger-1323781-Supreme-XT-Spinning-Reel-Size-30-6-2-1-Gear-Ratio-/262305418216?hash=item3d129f0be8:g:YDgAAOSwDuJWugBt http://stcroixrods.com/shop/freshwater/rage-spinning-rods/ If you want to go all the way, I have this combo and absolutely love it... http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Shimano-Stradic-2500-HGFK-Spinning-Reel-/151991333065?hash=item236363b0c9:g:EaAAAOSwezVWykpE https://www.*.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=GLoomis%2DGLX%2D783SJWR&e=Y I actually own them both and prefer the regular Stradic over the ci4+...and the Loomis GLX is perfect for it...although I am sure I would prefer the NRX.
  19. Sorry, I just reread your original post. I was a spinning only guy for a LONG time, so I get it. These three spinning setups should cover most of your bases. 2500 size reel on a 7' Med-Heavy/Ex-Fast with 40lb braid 2500 size reel on a 6'6" Medium/Moderate with 30lb braid 1000 size reel on a 6'6" Med/ExFast with 20lb braid
  20. I have practiced all of them and have gotten proficient with most. I still find myself going to the uni-uni most of the time. For some reason I just trust it the most.
  21. In my opinion my Chronarch is closer in performance to my Curado than it is to my Metanium. The Metanium is markedly better than both.
  22. I've got a Metanium going on mine.
  23. Anyone tried the FG knot? I was playing around with it the other day. Kind of a pain to tie, but seems REALLY strong and very thin.
  24. I am a big fan of the GLX rods and I don't think this one would have been any exception. I am really excited to see how the NRX compares.
