Triton TR-175
They are great boats. I had one for a couple of years and it was very good in all aspects. Front deck was large and easy to fish from and the storage was good and spacious. Livewell was good too. If you have that boat in any water that sinks it your a maniac... I had it in pretty huge swells a few times and it did just fine (also had the 90hp). That 67lb should be enough for you, I ran an 82 but it was way more than enough. I really don't have a bad thing to say about it other than its Merc was pretty cold natured.

Any fellow Hoosiers been yet this year?

Turtle Creek Res. Western Indiana
Its worthless now for the most part. There is no lack of forage I'll tell you that. Millions of shad are around in that lake. The biggest issue in my eyes was the loss of vegetation / habitat as well as the over abundance of catfish / carp. There are so many 40lb + cats in that lake its ridiculous. So many and so big they eat all of the bass I believe. Heck a 60lb flathead will swallow a 5lb bass easily, and there are many caught out of there this size.

Black and Blue Jig Question
I was walking down my pond the other day and seen a giant crayfish... was mostly blue with some dark patches on it. Here's your sign. But really color dosn't matter much IMO.. I've caught fish on everything in almost all conditions. Don't get caught up in the details... its more of a shade thing than specific color.

upside down beetle spin rattle
Not exactly sure what your talking about. But.... most beetle spin blades are attached to a wire which attaches to the jig head portion. Every beetle spin I've seen has a wire with a clip that is removable. If that is the case, unclip the wire, flip your jig head over, and reclip it. If I understand you correctly that would solve your problem, but I can't see it causing alot of missed fish.

Crappie n00b
Yea the gulp things are identical to an ice fishing bite. I usually let them hit it, let the float at least slide sideways or go down a few inches then just lift. Thats whats worked best for me. Seems like hard hooksets on finicky fish never work for me. Its best to just let them tell you tho.

Turtle Creek Res. Western Indiana
Pretty sure there isn't next to the lake. There are couple little places right close that have cabins / campers or something that may let you pitch one I'm not sure. Other than that you could go to Sullivan County Park and Lake in Sullivan and pitch one. Its probably only 15 min from TC.

When Do Crawfish Molt? And When They Molt What Color?
Most likely will depend on your local species as to when they do it, as well as what color. Try to find out whats most prevelant in your area and go from there.

The Red eye shad
Honestly the red eye has pretty poor action compared to many of the others. It just swims weird to me. I rarely throw it. I like the XCaliber much better.

Crappie n00b
silvercliff: I have used the Gulp products like the fake beemoths that are bright green and did very well for crappie on them ice fishing. I havn't had a chance to try them out on open water yet, but I'm sure they would be good, especially on slow bite days.

water temp
Like they said, they are catchable as long as your lure can hit water, it can just be a little more difficult. Weird how you say your having a mild winter up there in Quebec.. your alot further north than where I'm at in Indiana and we still have ice on the majority of our water - been a very cold and LONG winter here.

The Scenic Cast
Haha.... the imfamous "This looks good!". Seems like every time I pull up to a place (especially if I feel like beating the bank) and I think it looks like bass should be there I never catch one. I think this is more with areas for me though than particular spots. There are definately spots on weedlines, trees, etc where I cast and feel extremely confident about my chances.

The Strike, The Hook Set, or the Fight?
Nothing is better to me than feeling a big "thump-thump" and watching your line take off sideways. The anticipation of what's on the other end is what's awesome! I like the fight too, but really today's modern equipment has taken that down alot. Giant stiff rods, hard cranking reels with lights-out drag, and humongous test lines make bass fishing fights turn into more of a formality. Only unless you choose lighter tackle does it become more fun - which I generally choose to do.

A bait you hate to use
Same here, only I have been productive with them. My problem with spinnerbaits is I have a hard time believing that they are going to out produce on of my other, more comfortable options. I usually fish one 2-3x per year and thats it.

Tips for Strip Pit bass fishing?
Most likely your pits are very clear, at least they are around here. Generally I use a natural colored soft plastic bait on lighter line, fluorocarbon if you see fit. Topwater usually works well during the right times of the year. Swimbaits also work well, espeically if you have alot of weeds to fish. Like 'fishes in trees' said, stick to the areas where shallow water meets deep, especially in the spring. You'll find more fish that are easier to catch in those areas. There are also fish on the very steep walls but those are harder to fish, especially from shore.

Indiana Bassin
45 min huh? Chinook FWA near Brazil I've heard is pretty good, no pesonal experiences there though. Is Monroe Reservoir that close to you? I don't know but I know its got fish. There are several lakes around indy, and like the other guy said, the white has some smallies in it.

Turtle Creek Res. Western Indiana
Hey guys, sorry I just seen this post. Its a 10 hp limit on the lake. If you have a bigger motor you are currently allowed to IDLE under a new trial period they are doing. I just took my boat out there the other day (90hp) and idled all over. It makes that lake fishable for me since I don't have a 10 hp kicker. Sunday, 2/21/10 the farthest north water (where the bouys keep you from going farther) was 72 degrees. It gradualy gets colder as you head south, with most of the mid lake bay areas hovering around 60 degrees. Ramp water temperature was 41 I believe, but that day there was a north wind blowing the warmer water down. I fished for 6 hours for bass without a bite (although I did pick up huge balls of shad all over the mid lake areas). Absolutely terrible how far down hill that lake has went. There are still some fish in there, but if you hit it on a bad weather day and they are lockjawed, good luck. I heard that a few weeks ago some people caught a few. To me, its not really worth going to if there is any open water anywhere else. I catch more fish on 38 degree strip pits than going there. Good luck though, and definately post your results if you head out!

Lowrance Networked GPS position
Why would you use an external antenna on a internal antenna unit? My internals get better reception then my external did anyway.

Biggest Mistake After Putting The Boat In The Water
They make bilge pumps, you know... Really??? What about people who don't want to put a bilge pump in their aluminum boat? Pulling the plug on plane works just fine, smart*ss . How do you get the plug in and out while on plane? Do you mean reaching down over the transom with the boat on plane to put it in our out? I'm not being a smart *ss, just curious. In many aluminum boats the plug is on the inside of the transom and pretty easily accessable. Its pretty dangerous to do this on your own, if you'd fall out your pretty much screwed. It's really a last resort type of thing and better with two people. But if your bilge pump fails you can use it to help you out of a hairy situation. I've only did it once, and it was during a heavy rainstorm that lasted all day, and my bilge wasn't working. So as my boat filled up I'd pull the plug, drive awhile, then put it back and I was good to go again.

Most Gratifying thing about fishing?
For me its the satisfaction of figuring out the puzzle and outsmarting the fish. Its like the daily newspaper... sometimes you get hard puzzles and other days they are easier.. but you look forward to them either way. I also like the friendly competition of tournaments. Makes it a little more interesting sometimes and it gives you goals to shoot for. The calm quietness of mother nature is always a plus too, but I feel like I get that feeling better with hunting than fishing.

After ice out?
At ice out I generally fish the deeper structure winter haunts. Catch alot of big fish like this, generally on some type of t-rig or jig. The clearer the water the deeper I generally fish at ice out... but who knows. I have caught LMB off of 2ft deep stumps when half the lake was still frozen. Confused yet?? Let the fish tell ya whats up.

Climate-Gate Do-Over
You said it brother! Stop cutting the trees down, leave the forrest alone everywhere What? Does that mean your going to tear down your house made of wood? Trees are renewable and a great source of product if managed properly. Now the climate thing.... of course climate changes. Whether or not its accelerated by man or not we'll probably never know. You can put all the data together you want but its hard to creat data for years past without some sort of error. Honestly, here in Indiana, I'm pretty sure we are having a second ice age. The normal temps this time of year are like 44 degrees, the high today is 28 and we've had very few above 30 in feb. The Earth varies naturally, it just makes sense to curve our pollution as much as possible though.

Advice on new Fish Finder
If you want one to view in both areas the cheapest thing to do would be mount one on your console (or to the side) using a RAM mount or something similar. You can then just spin the units head around and view it from the front, saving time on hooking up all of the wires each time you want to change spots. I used to do this before I could afford two seperate units, and really it worked good enough. The only problem with this suggestion is you wouldn't have a front trolling motor transducer but honestly its not that big of a deal. You could always still mount one and switch transducer cables or something if you really found it necessary.

Do You Drink While on the Water?
First of all, I am by no means a big drinker. But, it depends really on what I'm doing. If I go out "boating" in like a speed boat and spend much of the day floating around... then ya, one or two beers arn't bad. But I still never get drunk. Here in IN its just as illegal to drive a boat drunk as it is a car. Fishing, not really. I find if I try to I don't focus very well. Usually I end up focusing too much on fishing and end up with a hot flat beer : ) So I stay away from it usually then.

Lowrance Networked GPS position
There in lies my problem understanding this. Both units have their own antennas. So you creat a waypoint and that unit uses its antenna and creates that point (obvious). But when the point is shared to the other unit... does the second unit just use the recorded cordinates and find it using its own antenna? If it dosn't then you are having to find it using the other antenna. Mike, I realize there is inherant error in all GPS systems... but if I assume the wrong antenna it will still add, say 10 ft of extra error to my measurement. I would have the normal 10-15 ft diameter of error and then 10 more feet of error from the bow to outside line of the first diameter. I don't know..... surely they have thought of this and each unit uses its own position to go to that coordinate.
