Hey guys, Is burning the bait in winter a good idea? Now I know what you are going to say...but before you say it read. My Dad was a kid and he liked to fish farm ponds. He was fishing a pond in january with a bayou boogie, and not getting much action. The told me that he reeled fast to pull it over a brus pile and [glb]WHAM[/glb]...caught a bass. He then cast out and burned the bait [glb]WHAM[/glb]! Another hit. He then proceeded to get his friends and catch about 70 bass... ;D Could it be possible that all the misconception about slowy working the bait in winter is wrong? And that no one tries to go against this theory since it is so strongly encouraged? I know a bass' metabolism slows down in winter...but could this theory of working the bait slow be wrong? Hey Guys! I know everyone here has a couple hidden tools of the trade/great secrets they havent gotten around to telling... ;D Start sharing! (it can also be about panfish and stuff...) Mine Is: Fish where no one else is. Turn your back on the shoreline...fish structure you cant see...the bass arent as harrased and you will have the waters to yourself.

Dang! You all get to fish alot! I might get to fish 2 times a month max! I would love to fish every day..but the old man has to work, and the fact that we live in ohio, with no lakes within 20 miles doesnt help...lol. I can wait till i can drive, then ill be gone! Nice fish! I recon im about your sons age, 15?, and i went out a couple days ago. the only problem was it was about 40 degrees...lol. I had a couple hits, but no lunkers. I think the only thing i caught was a cold. ;D
