Tuning Suspending Jerkbaits
I'm having problems with a couple of Jerkbaits that are supposed to be SP but actually slowly sink. I haven't tried them in different waters, but the sink rate is too fast I'm sure it won't suspend in any kind of water. How can I get them to suspend?? Should I change the hooks to smaller sizes? What have you tried?? Thanks.

What Makes Lucky Craft Worth The Extra $$ ?
I thought of the Rapala Lures again, and came up with an interesting point... We also have a lot of Bomber cranks and Traps around, but they only cost about 5$..... What's up with Rapala? That's the reason I only have 2 Rapala's in my tacklebox..... Too expensive..... I'd go with LC or Evergreen anyday! BTW, The baitmonkey justifies my purchases

What Makes Lucky Craft Worth The Extra $$ ?
There seems to be quite a difference regarding Luckycraft lures between US and Japan. In Japan, Luckycraft baits are mid-ranked both price and name value. Many people complain about the dull looking finish on the LC baits and the fact that they are too fragile. If we convert 1 USD to 100 Japanese Yen, 1 LC Pointer (Called B'Freeze over here) costs roughly 12$. By comparison, a Rapala DT-4 costs 15$ Ok, I'm comparing a Jerkbait to a Crankbait, but I still haven't seen any X-Raps around yet and only know the price of a DT-4 so.... Anyway, I'm guessing here the costs involving S&H are driving the price up like mad. The most popular lures are (of course :) MegaBa$$ (Costs on average 20$ apiece!!) Evergreen (15$~) IMAKATSU (20$ avg.) O.S.P (15$~) You Jerkbait addicts might want to try out O.S.P's jerkbait "Asura". Good looking finish, great action, and 3x Treble hooks for all the hook nightmares you can imagine!! ;D About 9cm (Nearly 4in) long. Maybe we are just spoiled with those "Ultra realistic" paint jobs...

Ultra, Ultra, Ultra light rod
Have you seen any of the pen rods?? We have rods (and matching reels) in Japan which will collapse into just about the size of a ball-point pen. Maybe a bit longer, but close enough to hide in your suit. Comes at around 20$$ I guess ;D Looks fun for minnows and smaller fish http://store.yahoo.co.jp/trend-walker/b7c8c2d3ca.html

Fishing Long-Billed Jerkbaits
I was wondering why they seemed to have a sluggish movement... I'll try fishing them the same way as the short bills. The thought had never crossed my mind : THanks!!

Fishing Long-Billed Jerkbaits
What's a good way of fishing long-billed jerkbaits?? (Staysee, LB pointer etc) I find myself often using them like crankbaits, and that doesn't produce much : I like using short-billed jerkbaits a lot by twitching them around, but that doesn't creat satisfactory movement for those long billed cousins. Any suggestions?? Jerk - Stop - Jerk - Stop ??

Tackle Box
Great!! Sounds like a tackle box good for my needs. And I won't have to worry about forgetting to close the latch or anything like that anymore ;D I've done that too many times now it's not funny anymore

Tackle Box
Great post!! I might be leaning more towards a soft bag now. I'm not sure I understand #8. Do you mean the lid of the boxes will shut flush with the rest of the box thus cutting off any space a hook or 2 can slip around and mess up an otherwise organized box? I like the versatility of the bags. Im going to check a few out and see what there is. Thanks!

Tackle Box
I have the same feeling. I MUST take every lure I have. ;D Do you have any problems with the bag getting dirty?? Do you wash it?

Tackle Box
Ooo lots of suggestions to look into!! Thanks guys! The only gripe I have about those bags is that I'm worried about getting all the dirt and other "stuff" smeared all over. I certainly don't like washing stuff, and I love hard plastic boxes because I can swipe all the dirt n' grit right off with a towel or anything within reach. Another gripe I have for those 2-sided boxes is that I'll probably forget to close the lid and dump all the lures when I flip the box over to the other side I only had a small collection of hard lures until halfway into 2006. I was originally a worm guy. I have a huge box filled with plastics which I carried along with a small box containing everything not "soft". How do you store your worms?? Do you stuff them into the containers, or do you keep them in the bags?? I was planning on stuffing both hard and soft stuff into 1 big box, but I don't think it would all fit :-/ I like that 7592. Ill check it out. I'll also look for those Falcon series. We have a Japanese equivalent to the Plano called "Versus" but it costs about 30% more than any Plano of the same storage capacity.... I still don't have enough lures yet to choose from so I'm thinking of lugging them around. Just outgrew the capacity for my current storage and am looking for something with ample growth potential..... And the 777 looked good, but a bit tooo big. Didn't want to look rediculous lugging it around ;D 1 last stupid question. Are there any "floating" systems that would float in the event of uh... a disaster?? :-?

Tackle Box
I'm wondering what you guys use to organize your tackle?? I'm looking at PLANO 777 series but am not sure if it's a tad too big or not. I went to a store nearby and found one of them and tried openeing the lids and such and was pretty impressed by it's storage capability. I sure don't have to worry about it being too much for the tackle I have right now! I'm sure the baitmonkey will fill it up for me in the blink of an eye if it finds some space left open... I'm a bank fisher, but because I fish tiny ponds where the tackle is always within sight, I tend to bring the big box down to the bank and set it right down and work around the pond with only a rod in hand. Sometimes I keep the rear hatch of my car open with my tacklebox inside if I'm too lazy to unload everything ;D Any suggestions?? I've only taken a look at PLANO series. Any other alternatives?? It would be great if I can see photos of how you manage your tackle!!

You think you know everything?
If it can be caught with a line and hook in the water, it's a fish ;D

Winter fishing. Slower and Smaller??
Hey sounds like a great idea!! I'm going to have to find a long rainy Sunday to do it though.. I've got sooo much stuff to copy and paste ;D

Winter fishing. Slower and Smaller??
Yes. THis year I had been trying to learn the proper way to fish a T-rig and Jigs. I have had quite a bit of success with the T-rig but little on the jig. Next year I'm going to keep up with the T-rigs and Jigs. I'm having much better time on the water (Even if it isn't a productive day) if I have a lil' goal set beforehand. Next year I swear I'm going to keep those Senkos hidden away until last resort and stick to Creature n Crawfish baits on T-rigs! I've been stocking up on them for that reason. I have a couple of other baits I want to be able to fish (Such as the C-rig) but those will come later on after I get the hang of the T-rigs and Jigs. Thanks for your help guys. This is great. I have it all bookmarked for easy access

Dead Fish
Ok, I'm back from fishing the same pond. As I suspected, the dead fish are no longer there. In fact there were NO dead fish this time. And though the water was pretty cool, the more active bass were chasing around the stocked trout like mad. Seems like there's nothing to worry about :-? Maybe it was just a bad dream ;D The water although still quite a bit murky, seems to have cleared up a bit. The most reassuring thing is that there were ducks and some large bird in the pond. Seems like the pond is healthy after all! Thank you all for your concern & advice.

Floating and Suspending Jerkbaits
That sounds good!! I gotta try that!

Floating and Suspending Jerkbaits
That's what I was thinking, but I never had much success with floating versions. Maybe I'm just using them at the wrong time. The same with Crankbaits. I only have floating Crankbaits, but always wish they were all suspending cranks.... Whenever I reach out for a jerkbait at the tackleshop, I always find myself looking for ***SP.... Someday I'm going to regret this...

Winter fishing. Slower and Smaller??
Ok I think I've got a pretty good idea of what I should do and what not. Always appreciate the help! I should hammer K.I.S.S in my head. I always think things complex beyond needs as a few of the forum members have already noticed ;D

Floating and Suspending Jerkbaits
"Suspending" baits only suspend under certain conditions and that's normal. I'm not sure what else affects it, but Water temp sure will.

Winter fishing. Slower and Smaller??
Okay! So that means jigs, T-rigs and C-rigs are the norm for winter fishing eh?? I should have squeezed in a bit more practice during summer :-[ What do you think of Drop-shotting during the winter?? Would the Bass shy away from a wildly shaking bait?

Guide to getting females to fish..
Funny thing is, they keep on piling in what they like... Based on looks alone... Not fishing style, not weight, and forget about cheap ones... My GF has a knack for putting in a ton of pricey stuff just because "They look good"..... Once out on the water the first Q to come at me is "How do I use this? :-?" I guess I'm having fun though 8-)

Floating and Suspending Jerkbaits
Do you guys think I'll regret only stocking up on suspending ones?? Seems to me they have quite an advantage. The added weight makes them easier to cast further, and like you guys said they will also work in colder waters. I just can't find a reason to buy the floating versions

Winter fishing. Slower and Smaller??
Ooo Great advice Catt and Peter. Thanks. Are you saying here that it is generally better to drag a bait along the bottom instead of hopping them around?

Floating and Suspending Jerkbaits
What's so different between Suspending and Floating Jerkbaits? I haven't been able to find much difference in catch rates or anything except I can get my lure back from snags a lot easier with floating ones... I have read the added weight of suspending (Even more with sinking) jerkbaits dumbs down the action of the lure somewhat. How do you guys use these?? I'm in the proccess of reorganizing my tacklebox and am wondering if I should stock up on a few floating versions. I currently only have suspending ones.
