  1. I"m just speaking for myself here and maybe I misunderstood the thread but I'm not talking about wiping out equipment in all bass tournaments forever. And I in now way think these guys can't fish without electronics but with how far Bass fishing has come and the knowledge some of these pros have I think it would be interesting to see who would come out on top in this type situation. Even a one day competition I think would be cool.
  2. Now I'm confused. Are you guys saying they don't know what lake they're fishing in the Classic? Another noob question pending the answer of the first question. Do they prefish for the Classic?
  3. I have one of the, I guess old fashion, boxes with 3 trays that extend up and out. For Christmas my wifes grand-father gave me a 4 drawer deal with storage in the top and I got a small over the shoulder with storage boxes. I'd like to get a binder with sleeves to carry my soft baits in since I use those the majority of the time. I do keep my tackle organized as best I can. I am an organization freak when it comes to my tackle. I"m sure one day I'll end up with more boxes than I need because of it but I'll be organized and less stressed. LOL!
  4. And we're 86,400 seconds closer than we were at this point yesterday. Woo Hoo
  5. Hope I'm not hijacking here but it wouldn't bother me to see the pre-fishing before a tourney done away with. These lakes get so much pressure the week before a tourney there's no telling what fish are missed come the day of competition.
  6. Instead of wrapping bass boats they'd be wrapping canoes.
  7. Don't know of any but I'd love to see it. And to really get back to basics just for fun limit the tackle. One rod/reel, small tackle box standardized that each entry would have to use. It could be called the "Getting Back To Basics Series" Maybe I'm way off here but I honestly think that would be very interesting. Kind of really putting knowledge and instinct to the test.
  8. That's a good point Avid. If I'm a pro and somebody wants to pay me to use their product I say what the hey. If the product works great I may catch more fish. If not at least it's helping me earn my living.
  9. Thanks for the link Fluke. You must have ESPN or something. I was just wondering about the origins of the site the past couple of days.
  10. I am in no way trying to deagrade you Bimbleton so please don't take it that way. I am speaking about newbies in general. I'm a newbie myself. Sometimes newbies need to remember they are NEWBIES. It's easy to forget that these guys have put there time in to get where they are. Most of these guys started out just like everybody else that starts fishing. Sure they may have had more access to things and been able to spend more time on the water than some but Kudos to them. They're lucky. Having all the electronics in the world will definately help you catch fish but being on the water day in day out learning about weather effects, techniques, bait etc is what makes these guys pros. I'm sure they're are plenty of people out there that have most of if not all the same electronics that the pros have that have a lot less money and caught a lot less fish than the pros.
  11. Sounds like a great idea. I will definately support it!
  12. Welcome back. Any pics of that first fish of the year?
  13. Hey, Way 2 Go. Looks like you're recovering pretty well. Fishing that is. Camera work, well.....
  14. Happy Birthday man. Hope you have a great one!
  15. Welcome aboard! You'll find a lot of great people here and great knowledge also. Have fun.
  16. Long Mike nice point. As I read this thread though I felt I was entering the twilight zone. All I can say is it looks like Glenn's strategery has paid off and provided us a very productious site for us to read. Stay the course, do good in veggies and eat you're shool.
  17. I don't know how much truth there is to it but I've heard the insurance is higher on Kia's because they're not as established as the other car companies.
  18. **Before you buy insist that the dealership runs a detailed carfax reort** Coincidentally we were looking at Hyundais and we found out the car we were interested in was a lemon. Anyway my wife had a Hyundai Elantra when we got together 4 yrs ago and it was great. Her step brother now has it and has had no problems. I have to agree with Ed though. Give Honda some serious consideration. We have a CRV that we've had for 2 yrs with no problems and a Pilot and they're both great cars.
  19. Sorry to hear about that man. Sounds like you've got you're priorities straight and will land on feet. There's always light at the end of the tunnel. Good Luck!
  20. That is awesome. My head was kinda spinning by the time it was over. I don't care to watch NASCAR but like Sam said I have a lot of respect for what those guys do. Any high speed racing really. Those guys are in those cars for hours on end and their bodies have to take a serious beating. I do good enough to control my road rage on the highway much less a race track doing 150+.
  21. That is one heck of a fish. Nice job!
  22. More times than I care to remember. I absolutely HATE going in after getting skunked. Even if I fish for 8 hrs and only catch 1 fish I feel better than if I fish 1 hr and get skunked.
  23. OK, I didn't realize it was only 5.7 million more seconds to go. Suddenly it doesnt seem so bad. :. LOL!
  24. Wow, I can't hardly wait for this trip! Feel like I'm watching a clock tick second by second. Anyway I talked to Long Mike last night and it looks like we're all set. Mike had mentioned a while back that he would like to switch boat partners through the week. Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm cool with that in case there's any other doubles out there thinking the same thing. Shoot either one of us a pm if you want or I'm sure we'll be kind of playing it by ear once we're there. Anyway I am pumped for this trip and looking forward to meeting everyone that'll be down there. And can't wait to eat some of this cooking I've been reading about. 8-)
  25. RoadWarrior is right. The beginners section of the BassResource library will give you info on virtually any topic you're looking for as a beginner. Reading isn't nearly as exciting as going out and catching you're first bass but once you pick up on what your reading and go out and practice what you've learned you will be rewarded. Welcome aboard and good luck on you're first LMB! Hope it's a big one!
