  1. Welcome LL! This is an excellent place to learn about Bass fishing. I'm a newbie to Bass fishing also. There's also a ton of good info and articles on the BassResource website.
  2. I am lefthanded. I cast with my left and reel with my right for both BC and spinning. I was brought up on a Zeb33 spincast. For baitcasting it's great but spinning reels are another story.
  3. Those are some fat fish. Nice job!

Very nice fish. Looks like you had a great day.
  5. Very nice video! Almost give me goosebumps seeing all those bass boats speeding across the water in the early morning hours. Awesome sight!
  6. Thanks for another awesome video not to mention a great idea. It's nice to be able to put faces to names! Looking forward to meeting some of those faces in person at Fork!
  7. I"m more likely to spot fish. When I first get out I'll hit a few different spots for 5-10 mins then once I"ve hit several spots I pick out the one's that got bites or I felt most confident about and slow fish those for a while.
  8. For some people seeing is believing and until they see something in person they just won't believe it. Once you get your boat back on the water take him out and let him fish slow style. Maybe once he catches fish that way he'll be more open to fish that way.
  9. I don't see it as determination or versatility. I see it as determination and versatility. Determination to stick it out and practice, practice, practice until you have learned a new bait and when/where to use it. Once you have learned more about those things then you have more versatlilty as an angler.
  10. Yes. Of course it may be because I just keep saying it until I catch something. ;D

Great to hear you're able to get back out. I can imagine there's not much worse than being in a place where you could fish every day but not be able to go out. Here's to a full and healthy recovery.
  12. Awesome day out! I'd be happy with an 8lb LM much less a SM. lol
  13. My grandfather had a houseboat on Cave Run Lake in Ky when I was a kid. For the most part he kept it docked, he had dropped some brushpile in front off the dock. I remember going down there with my brother and 2 cousins. We would stay up all night sitting on the front deck of that boat dropping our lines with minnows pulling out crappie and bluegill left and right. Those were some really fun times. I'll never forget that anticipation of getting to the lake, walking down the dock to the boat. (Actually I still get it when I fish now) LOL. No worries in the world except for how many fish I was going to catch.
  14. Awesome!! That'll make for some fun fishing.
  15. I voted none and never will. I can't say that I will never own a LC lure and I'm not against people that use them but for my budget right now they are out of my price range. I can't justify buying one lure when I could be getting 3-5 lures that would possibly produce just as well as a LC depending on conditions.

I for one like storm lures. I caught quite a few bass with the wild eye swim bait this summer. When I went Walleye fishing at Erie this summer the only thing we used were the hot-n-tots, originals not the remakes, and the wallies at them up. I can't speak for the remakes of the originals because I haven't tried them yet. I have heard though that they don't run the same. The pictures in this thread look really nice. I'll definately be keeping my eyes peeled for those in '07. That goby looks awesome. Storm may be on to something with the realism their putting into their lures these days.
  17. Welcome! Nice fish.
  18. Welcome aboard Blaker!
  19. So I'm about 99% in. Anybody going that hasn't booked their room yet or is anyone that has booked interested in another roomate. Shoot me a pm if so and maybe we can save a little $$.
  20. Excellent posts. I have only lived up here for 2 yrs but have to say the winters don't bother me at all. With the exception of being so far away from family of course. Like Russ said there's nothing like waking up in the morning to snow. The first year my wife and I moved up here we got 24 inches of snow overnight and it was awesome. I'm 30 yrs old and love to play in the snow. It's even better if you have dogs that love the snow. It's interesting because I grew up in KY and remember it getting cold and snowing when I was a kid but for about the past 10 yrs the winters have been really mild. It seems the climate has changed. It's cool to get snow covered winters again. This is kind of off topic but with the bad winters the summers up here are awesome. The one thing I will never miss about the south is the humidity. Sweating at 7a.m. is not my thing. I'll take the cold and snow in the winter in exchange for all the heat and humidity in the summer and day.
  21. I'm up in Mass so it's been a little colder than your neck of the woods. I've been out the last 2 wks and caught LMB on a Rapala Shallow Shad Rap and Storm Wild Eye Swim Bait. Wasn't fishing them slow just a normal retreive speed. Good Luck this weekend. Be safe.
  22. jdw174, I have some storage space in my garage. You're welcome to send it my way and I'll hold on to it for ya. ;D
  23. I never really was a morning person growing up but after an 8-5 job and 2 puppies I have had no choice in the matter. I love being a morning person now. It's such a peaceful time of day. Nothing like having a good cup of coffee and nice cigar on a nice cool sunny morning. There's no other therapy I know of that comes close. Being on the water is even better. That's the time of day where it doesn't matter if I'm catching fish or not. The relaxation is a great way to clear the mind. Of course I never complain when I do catch fish.
  24. Man vs. Fish I think man just barely edged that one out. lol. That was one heck of a fish.
