Chicken rig
That actually looks pretty decent. Kind of a dumb name but I like how it looks.

A Question if this happened
I have a couple. They were affordable compared to many other reels.. they are lightweight & tough. To be honest with you I'd fish with a Shakespeare. I don't care.. I enjoy nice things in life but also make the most of what I have. Any "cheap " real made today is light years ahead of what my grandfather used.

Rapala Scatter Rap.......Revisit
The only 2 I like are the scatter rap shad and scatter crank shallow. I caught 2 4+ lbers last season on that scatter rap shad in yellow perch. And had one day where I caught 4 in a row on consecutive casts on the scatter crank shallow. It was the blue back Herring color... With the shad rap I use a sweeping retrieve usually, back and forth, varying my speeds until I get a bite.. the key to the shallow crank for me was to reel steady.. and as I got into what I knew was the zone I would give a couple quicker reels..This would make the bait kick out to the side or 'scatter' and was usually when I got bit. I often seen a white belly out of nowhere before I felt the weight. I like em. That being said. I did get a scatter countdown and jointed. Not a fan. Like the originals much more. I don't think I like the scatter shad more than the original shad rap but it's nice though... Also a fan of the 'ike approved' colors.. the old school, Mardi gras, and penguin are all fish catchers for me.

New swimbait lure is 600 in 1
Over 600 lures in one ? How can a company make such ridiculous claims.? It's not even 60 lures in one and probably not even 6. That's ridiculous and i wouldn't even consider buying a bait from a sales pitch like that.

Finesse Cranks
@Spankey I agree.. they even make shallow running ones. And they suspend. I wish I could find another one like the one pictured to the right. Fire perch.

Finesse Cranks
You must have got the size 5 if you're considering the shad rap a finesse crank ? Good choice nonetheless.

How to catch a PB?
The biggest variable is not which lure or technique. Its location. You won't catch your personal best if it isn't there. Which means the hardest part is finding the fish. Not catching it. You should specify if you're fishing from bank or water craft of some sort. And what type of water ? The quickest easiest way is live bait. But my best bass have come off top waters, Worms and jigs. And crankbaits. Lol.have +5lbers on all of em .. Like I said location is key. Adjust your approach to climate and cover type.

Crankbaits for bank fishing?
You can mention someone to get their attention . You just use the @ symbol and their username right next to it. A little box will pop up as you're doing it showing the members with the names you've typed. Real simple and a cool feature that can save readers time from scrolling through quoted posts. @ohihunter2014 you're clear up by Cleveland ! I'm almost in Kentucky. About 45 mins north of Cincinnati in a town you've probably never heard of. In short, over 3 hours away from where you fish.. this site is awesome. Some real knowledge from some serious fisherman. I've browsed several forums. And this place has the answers. Every time I googled something I wanted to read about, bassresource had a discussion about it. Usually several. This is why I joined. It's fun conversing with the folks on here. But I often find myself digging deep in the archives. It's cool to see some of the same topics come up year after year.. and how the preferences and responses change. Look forward to your future posts and hopefully we have some nice pics to share of some Ohio hogs before the season is through.

Crankbaits for bank fishing?
Few really good baits for cranking the banks besides a lipless. You mentioned you had purchased an original floater. I'd bring that with you on your bank fishing adventures... I'd also look into the xrap shallow shad. Gettin harder to find but it's an awesome bait. Another that I really like is the bomber 4A . This bait is killer. It floats back up pretty quickly which can sometimes be the ticket after a collision with cover and aids in getting around downed limbs and such. More than once the bomber A saved me from a rough day. Also the rapala DT fat and SK squarebills will work well too. I picked up a silent lucky craft squarebill from tackle warehouse on sale for like 6 bucks. It hasn't seen much action yet but produced on its first use... Always a good sign. And I was excited to have one with out rattles. Everything doesn't need to rattle IMO and sometimes will send the bass swimmin for the hills. Try a chatterbait with a curly tail grub. Zman freedom is nice cuz you can swap to a preferred hook. Which is a plus for picky bass fisherman. I see alot of posts about using the paddle tails with these but I like to use a kalins single tail or rage menace grub. What part of Ohio bud. ?

new combo-what baits can i use?
One of my favorite baits . Many species can be taken on shad raps and original floaters.! Good choice and easily one of the best value hard baits you can get.

I believe he's talking about the rapala original floater.

Roboworms and Mann's at Walmart
They don't sell a spinning rod ? Line ? Some jigs, senkos and shad raps ? Odd if not. Back in Michigan Walmart (where I lived had a decent section.. so did the other one directly across the street lol) Here in rural Ohio the Walmart still has some stuff. No it's not top shelf.. but I can get power pro, rapala , SK and zoom . And usually I don't need much more than that. I went to one in Kentucky that had rage tail baits.

Walmart has everything you need for someone to catch a bass.

What are Ugly Stiks good for?
Right !! I wonder how my forefathers caught a bass without a megabass combo ! I could take many rods 'worse' than an ugly stick and still catch bass.. I believe if I had no fishing tackle, I could take 50 bucks and still catch bass. Id go grab a spinning rod (say Jimmy Houston combo* for 24.99) some braid (10) and 15 dollars for plastics and hooks depending on the season, could be jigs or Flukes. Post above me summed it up well. What good is an ugly stick ? It's good for fishing. If you gave that rod to someone who didn't have one, it would be extreme for them. Maybe not thought about in middle America but around the world I'm sure there are alot of fisherman who would think that ugly stick is gold. *I actually have this combo , it's a MH. It is not as good as an ugly stik either IMO. I've used it frog fishing, jig, jerkbait , senko, and actually caught my PB with it.. I don't use it much anymore because I've gained other ones. But if it's all I had I'd still be doin just as good ( as a young , blue collar father can be doing with his recreational fishing ) .

New plastic bait ?./ Frog hooks ?
. Changed over from a Gammy frog hook and don't miss it. Easier to get perfectly center with the pin on the owner. I dont plan on changing any time soon. My hook up ratio with this (and soft plastic ) vs hollow body is definitely better. I like the rage toad because of the packaging, and action. They will work with a leg bitten off and I never have to worry about them being bent like some of my other soft plastics.. coffee scent doesn't really come in to play here but I appreciate it anyway. Doesn't hurt I know that !

Bandit Lures
Only bandits I use are 100, 200. In black, and pearl white. Bomber has a chartreuse "blush" that has been catching me fish for a decade. I like the fat rap the most.

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Arkie_Salty_Crawlin_Fry_20pk/descpage-ARKFRY.html These right here. Trust me- New plastic bait ?./ Frog hooks ?
I like these owner screw lock. They work well and fit most of the soft plastic frogs perfect. Try these out Mike. Perfect for a light split shot rig, weightless and shaky head. Surely the manufacturer was pursuing the smallmouth fisherman with these but they are killer. Weightless all the little legs flutter and largemouth slam em. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Arkie_Salty_Crawlin_Fry_20pk/descpage-ARKFRY.html- Jigginpuss (not what you think)
I think he's good for the sport. He's entertaining to watch. Sort of a goofball but he knows what he's doin. And has some cool tips in his videos. Sure he pimps out the sponsors but they all do. Maybe it's because I like his sponsors so well.. I like most of the products he uses no matter who's fishin em. Bassresource's exclusive interview with him was cool. I didn't watch it all but I remember him saying he wished had more free time... And when asked what he'd do in his free time he answered; probably fish. Lol- Pick one finesse technique only
I think he just wants to know your favorite?.. your go-to (finesse technique)... Your bread and butter. Your answer to this question will fit perfectly in this thread.- Listening to music while fishing
Music is so B.A.. just like fishin. Perfect combo for me. On a pontoon with ur buddy and your ladies. Good vibes all around. Bankside just you and her, catfishin . Fishin in the dark by nitty gritty dirt band is one of my favorites. - Hellgrammite imitating baits?
