  1. I have several different types of lines just like everyone else. But I really like the spider wire camo braid. It's tan dark brown and green. Literally camo! Ha-ha . People hate on spiderwire for whatever reason. Cuz their favorite pro doesn't use it or whatever their reason may be. But, it works great for me. And cheaper than almost every other braid. Idk about you but I'm on a budget ? Lol so when I find something affordable that works well it is what I use.
  2. I'm not looking to donate money, I have bills and mouths to feed of my own and can't afford it, just donating the lightly used tackle that I don't use. I will pay the shipping.
  3. If the senko doesn't work , don't give up! Senko has probably caught more fish for me than any other plastic. But sometimes in certain areas; I can't buy a bite on a senko ! What did our grandfathers use before the magic senko was invented ? We've been catching suspended bass since we've had fishing poles. I think a fluke would be worth a try also. If you can manage to get it out into the school rigged weightless
  4. Apparently I've liked too many posts today haha ! I'll keep that in mind bro that doesn't sound bad at all! We will see how it goes I suppose..
  5. @Molay1292 exactly man. I agree 100%

@MIbassyaker you got some pretty good stuff tho dude I've seen your posts for awhile before I joined !
  7. I have some fishing tackle that I do not use. And that I want to send to someone who can put it to good use. Actually I would like it to go to someone who can give it to someone in their youth. Who doesn't have much. And hopefully can love fishing as much as I do. Various things , such as inline spinners , spinnerbaits , storm wild eye bluegill , pre rigged swim baits, some grubs , an some terminal tackle. And a couple of other things. If you think you can put it in a deserving youths hands. I would be glad to send it to you, and pay the shipping. Understand that I am not going to send it to someone that I think is not suitable. And especially won't send it to someone just looking for some free stuff. That's not what it's about. I guess I could just go drop It off at Goodwill or something but I'd like to know it went somewhere and got some use from a child who is underprivileged. PM if you're the one
  8. These two guys covered it pretty well, I've been doing well in ponds with an xrap shallow shad . It's hard to find. I had to order mine . I did so because I was a big fan of the xrap . And after owning a few xraps I got an xrap shad, with a bulkier profile and caught a few nice ones. I ran into a problem when I would pond fish however , it would hang up in the weeds too often. So I got the xrap SHALLOW shad which dives 5ft max. I hang up alot less. And the action is killer. Simple straight retrieve, a rip and pause, or a combination of the two. It's one of my top pond producers and if you're a fan of any rapala product I highly suggest you try one ! I own more than a few now, but really the only two colors I need is the olive green/white and the black/orange.
  9. Also @J Francho I think our spawning schedules might run a little different In southern Ohio (almost Kentucky) than in NY? No?
  10. @ I'm pretty sure what ever those "two things" may be... are just as good in the day time ! ?
  11. @the reel ess that's what I was fearing.. as I'd like to see it get even bigger. Guess I'll have to wait til spring to see if she makes it . I guess northern strain does mean it's old if its big. But I know for sure that if its old doesn't mean it's big. Pretty sure it has to do with genetics and environment. The pond is 12 years old now . And hasn't been stocked any since the first year. So she's probably on her last leg. It's a healthy pond tho. A real joy for me
  12. I guess it could be a male... but I highly doubt it given the size ! And I'd be pretty ticked if it was from someone else because the pond is on a remote piece of land owned by an old man, and he doesn't fish. It was built by his brother and when he passed the "old man" moved in. No one else fishes it that I know of..
  13. Wouldn't it be the males with the bloody tails tho?
  14. @jleonard91 sorry for jackin your thread. Maybe you learned something about spawning lol . And that makes sense to me as well ! Thanks. I'm assuming you said she wasn't on the bed because I said she was alone. I guess I just assumed it was on a bed because she was so shallow and clearly knew I was there throwing everything in my bag at her for 30 mins plus.
  15. I guess I should do some more reading.. lol. If she doesn't visit the bed how do her eggs get there ? I understand she doesn't stay on the bed but are you suggesting she never even goes onto it? I thought the male made the bed (which you stated ) the female laid the eggs, and then the male guarded the eggs and fry ...
  16. How are you sure she wasn't visiting a bed a male had made ? And wouldn't the tail have healed by August if it happened In late April early may Mine was different. It was a slice in the top part of the tail . Pretty deep too probably an inch . Like I said I thought it was from my braid
  17. That makes sense to me !
  18. Nah that probably sounds more like it.. it was late April tho almost may.. and I was on the bank. She was stationary. I tried to get her to bite but no dice. I threw at her for over a half hour. I think my presence was known. The reason I'm almost positive it was her was because I caught one earlier this month that was just over 24" and I highly doubt there's a bigger one in there in just a 3 acre pond.
  19. It was definitely queen of the pond. On the bed.
  20. Where I'm at i saw the big momma on her bed in latr April. Caught her in august with a bloody fin.
  21. @MassYak85 Yea mine looked like a slice on the top fork of the tail fin . I assumed it was my braid. I'm not so worried about why it happened but if it'll be alright . I'm assuming the fish was 10+ years old seen as how it was a northern strain that was just over 24inches long
  22. I'd like to know this too. I caught a hog out of a pond and i did my best to get her back in the water asap. I noticed slight bleeding at the tail and maybe a sliced fin. I don't know if it's from rocks or what. Possibly the braid slicing it when she tried to turn . Whatever the case may be ; I hope she lives to spawn at least once more.

They all catch fish . I asked this similar question about a jitter bug vs the jointed jitterbug and the best answer I got was "Let the fish tell you"
