I like the idea, now that I think of it, my friend's boat may be a semi v, because it is flat on the bottom. I like the idea of going new, but it may cost more. i guess i could get the essentials now and save up for a trailer.

I am looking into getting a jon boat. 1. I am on a budget, so I would like to find a cheap, yet effective boat right now we have about $1200 2. My Grandfather is splitting the cost in half with me 3. I am 15 and will be receiving my mom's FJ Crusier as a car when I am 16 4. My friend has a 12 foot Lowe Sea Nymph that has a plywood casting deck 5. My lake house lake is trolling motor only 6. I may want a 5/10 hp motor eventually for other water bodies 7. I want to add a casting deck of plywood 8. I want to get a bow mount motor eventually 9. i would start with one 5o pound trolling motor Here is my question: If I were to get a 12 foot boat, would I be able to put it on the roof rack? We can put it in my dad's truck also, will try this with my 10 foot boat first. This would be a good idea because i wouldn't need a trailer, which would enable me to buy new or add better gear. Next, should i get a jon or a vhull? i want a boat that is stable. my lake house lake is small and does not get rough, but the other bodies of water i ay fish can get rough in a jon boat. Is 12 0r 14 feet a better choice? at the end of the day, I want a long lasting, affordable, fun and good boat that can help me catch fish. I am really excited and want a boat now. On the other hand, i see the economical and logical reasons to wait. Thanks in advance!

Anyone have suggestions for a good all around heavy cover rod for $100? I liked the Puckett Ghost spinning rod until it got stolen, would look into that rod. Also heard good reviews on the Veritas and Tatula. I have several Tournament ZX rods, really like them except they break easily. I can return it anytime with no problem, but I'm 1 hour 30 minutes away from Cabela's. I'd either a 7'3" or a 7'6" Heavy or extra heavy rod. Id use my 7.3:1 Quantum Smoke Pt with 50-80 pound Suffix 832 and a spare spool of 20 pound Saguaro Invisx. Would be used for all heavy cover applications. Thanks!

On my friend's lake, we have had lots of success trolling squarebills for bass and pike. Anybody have suggestions on what rods would be good, where to troll, and when, and other tips? I learned from Aaron Wiebe to troll with the rod parallel to the water and perpendicular to the boat side, with the tip going back and forth constantly. thanks!

how expensive would making a deck that way be? I really want to make it sturdy but inexpensive, I saw a kid on youtube who made a deck in the front and back. it was about three inches below the top of the boat. In the middle, the deck was six inches lower. They were able to make a rod locker. is this possible?

Awesome, so i would make a deck out of 1/2 inch plywood and fill the extra space with the foam?
