  1. This is spot on And the Supremes are lighter. Well worth the extra money. IMO
  2. That's what I need
  3. Moved from the trolling motor to big motor to pick up speed?
  4. No, I've never fished a Duckett. You should be fine Carolina rigging with it if is more like a hvy. You may need to stay with a weight of 1/2- 5/8 oz. or more but what the heck, give it a try.
  5. For Martin and Spots can you put a 3/4 football jig on the Ghost and maybe a Senko or worm on the Avid for docks?
  6. I would still use the Avid. I think it will load up and release/cast the lure better. The Ghost is just too stiff to do that. To see what mean about the Ghost being too stiff to accurately cast, put your reel on it, tie on a jig and take it outside and give it a cast or 2. If you think you can get the accuracy and distance you'll need then use the Ghost. To me a 7'-6" ex hvy rod if for flipping and other short line applications. I will be good for A-rigs and BIG swim baits too. If the ceramic insert still in the eye and it's not loose or bent to where it impedes the line from passing through it, it should be fine.
  7. The MH Avid will handle casting those baits better than the XHVY Ghost. I would use the Avid unless I was short lining like punching matts or something, then Ghost would be the way to go.
  8. Do you think there's an algae bloom going on? Do you think it's enough to be messing with them seeing the bait? If it were me i would probably try something bright like chartreuse or bright white. I'm pretty sure you've tried that so next I'd go the other way and try solid black, A sharpie can make any lure black in minutes. Have you tried ripping a rattle trap through those weeds?
  9. Got it. You can definitely see it. Your settings are spot on in that shot. VERY NICE!!
  10. Nice shot. The HDSI is a step up for sure. Did you change your scroll speed or boat speed half way through this shot?
  11. Nice shot. It does look like there's fish on it. I like that green palette myself.
  12. Well, there's no guarantee you'll never draw a jerk. It does happen from time to time like anything else in life. Your odds of a guy turning into "one" on you may increase when he's the clubs "know it all/hammer" leading the points race AGAIN and you wax him from the back on a bait he thinks is stupid for you to be using. You may find he's a little easier to take in that scenario though.
  13. I can't imagine any club not welcoming you. Everyone joins a club for their own reasons, be it competitive or not. I would think a guy looking to learn and make friends would be the IDEAL new member. I don't think it will matter how few events you would be able to attend. Go have a good time and if you learn some thing too, all the better.
  14. Square bills, rattle traps, spinner baits, buzz baits, jigs, chatter baits, senkos, swim baits and flukes for the most part.
  15. Nice job

    That's awesome
  17. You might try 10-15lb braid with an 8lb flouro leader.
  18. What area of LOZ do you usually fish?
  19. It's hard to think that he got "lucky" but as bad as that could have been I'd have to say he got pretty "lucky."
  20. WOW!!! We don't grow them like that down here.
  21. What area do you typically fish?
  22. Does the stuff do any harm to baits if a thin coat was left on them? Could you just wipe the baits down and rinse in warm water to get the bulk of it off and call it good?
  23. Thanks, and welcome to you too. I pretty much fish Lake O from dam to dam, depending on the time of year, so running into each other is a possibility.
  24. That's awesome. Sounds like a great time and being with Dad makes 10 times better.
