  1. PRODUCTION RODS SHOULD NOT BE ON ANYONE'S LIST! I would choose a custom built rod on a Batson Rainshadow RX-8+ blank (C-865) with Fuji Titanium SIC guides, Fuji reel exposed blank seat, and garnet and gold guide wraps and rings (Go NOLES) , balanced perfectly to fit a 2012 Japanese Domestic Market Antares custom painted with garnet as main color and gold as small accents.
  2. That Hawg sure has good taste!
  3. Wellington Lake HAWG? Nice Catch!
  4. If you are a tradesman OWN your own business and you'll be better off than many professionals. I know plenty of "trade workers" that are doing as well and many times much better than professionals (doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc.). I think its really up to the individual.
  5. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I must not be self respecting, or at least I was until a bull cow did a number on the side of my nice, shiny, black truck after that I realized it was just a TRUCK!
  6. IMO, I would not get a mini-bass boat for your application. Consider a Gheenoe I used one for duck hunting and put it in the back of my Nissan Frontier no problems! I currently own a River Hawk Predator SS150 and love it, I used it this past season for numerous duck hunts and carried three men and three full decoy bags no problem. The Gheenoe was a tad bit heavier, but more stable. http://www.gheenoe.net/ http://www.oldtownca...ator_ss150.html
  7. It is an RX-7 blank in IMB844, I speced Fuji Alconite guides. It will be primarily be used to fish Frogs in semi heavy cover. Garnet and Gold thread and custom Gold rings at butt of handle. Scalp'em!
  8. Having a custom made rod made and the guy recommended Batson blanks, what do you custom rod guys think. I wanted a Loomis or Lamiglas, but he said Loomis no longer makes them and Batson is better.
  9. Nope no leader straight braid.
  10. Don't let him fool you he has connections , BR connections!
  11. Looks like FUN! Great catch!
  12. Yup water was SLICK, we wish we had a bit of a wind at times, but it was just a great day to be out, the sun really never came out so at least we did not cook. Saw plenty of beds with some company, but the Lake is so massive and has so many fish I think we will have waves of fish still spawning until March, although I believe the bulk have spawned out. The post spawn bite is going to be ON, with 100-200 fish days coming soon. Gotta love the fishery, once again had a great time Dwight, to bad we could not beat the outing you had with Justin.
  13. I have a Quantum Smoke micro guide rod and have gone through 3 different guides that have had them same issue, the insert falls out! Yesterday while fishing with Dwight the third guide insert fell out of the guide. Quantum specs Fuji Micro Guides, so they are not some off brand, any suggestions on what micro guide I should replace the defective one with? I use 50 to 65 lb braid and have it mated to a Smoke Reel. Its a 7' 4" heavy action in extra fast action its to date the best floating frog rod combo I have used as far as ca stability, weight, and action, too bad the inserts fall out.
  14. Plenty of manatee in the Lake! Just think of that next time you go running around at speed without a life vest on! They actually bump the lock gates when they want the lock tender to open them to move in and out of rim canal.
  15. Do you think if you would have been in a boat with extra closed foam floatation (Ranger, Champion, Boston Whaler) it would have saved you from going under completely? I am seriously debating whether to add a GPS Distress beacon to my life jacket since I have crossed from entire lake several times and once got caught in bad storm with 3-4 foot swells. If I would have had engine issues I would be stuck without recourse other than a water proof radio if I could get to it in time.
  16. WOW! Get the Big O and have it rigged exactly like you want it. Add some extra closed foam!
  17. Calcuttas when they first came out revolutionized what to expect from round reels, to this day they are the golden standard for level winding round reels.......now a Pluton is a different animal!
  18. I would say Titiusville area, a central location to all but the Keys, but you have some great Redfish, Sea Trout, Snook a bit further south, Bass just west of it between Stick Marsh and St. John's river basin. Titusville area is also known for some great shrimping and pompano and whiting fishing from the beach.
  19. What a game! Here I though Brady and company were going to clean house, and ended up losing at the end. The Giants running game was doing well and Eli to Manningham was the ticket to victory down the stretch! Congrats New York Giants! Only bone I have to pick is that I really thought Manningham should have won the MVP!
  20. ?? Giants won their division and were not a wild card this year. Wild Cards in the AFC were Pitt and Bungals, NFC were the Dirty Birds and Kittens. What happens when you have a weak conference, such as the AFC West? That is why wildcards are great, they give a good team in a strong division a chance.
  21. The Giants luck with the Patriots is about to run out, they pulled off a miracle in Superbowl 42 (thanks for that as a Phins fan) they did it again Nov. 2011, but its time to double down and pick the Patriots, they will not be fooled three times, Pats take this in a blowout, yes a BLOWOUT! Superbowl XLVI Patriots 31 Giants 17
  22. As we all know SEC football is extremely competitive with the likes of LSU, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn as of late, but as we all know what goes up must come down. I can see USC, Florida State, and even Pac-12 contenders in the near future. Problem with the SEC is that the teams can literally shoot themselves down on the way to the coveted BCS Championship, given other BCS conference standouts a chance to be ranked number 1 at the end fo the season. As a side note, FSU moved up the recruiting rankings literally overnight landing some more top recruits that did not commit this Wednesday! Yes, Alabama has the number 1 ranked class, but FSU had less recruits and higher quality, although subjective. This brings up a question to Alabama fans, how the heck does Saban have some many recruits sign, didn't he oversigning last year and then in has Saban way dumped players to medical scholarships or/and forced their hand to transfer to make room? Classy, right! So as far as recruiting classes rankings go FSU and Alabama did a flip from 1 to 2 and 2 to 1 in 2011 and 2012 seasons. Now let's see if FSU can actually, but subjective rankings to good use like Satan! Go Noles, Scalp'em! http://www.orlandose...,0,353371.story
  23. I knew it was a matter of time before you hooked into some Hawgs Dwight! I have been trying to get Dwight on some better quality fish, but he finally hooked up after some less than stellar attempts. The weather gods aligned this Thursday on the Lake, unfortunately Mike and I choose to explore my old fishing grounds, knowing full well that the bite was on elsewhere. I guess that is the way fishing goes! This is a Dwight fly-by we experienced right before the infamous outing: \ Now if I could only get that Bullet pass 70, like Justin, without scaring myself or the passengers!
