  1. I can't believe this thread is still going! Anyway, Capt. Shane have you had a chance to pick up some new rods?
  2. Doesn't it make you sick? Henne, overhyped Bush, Drop the ball Marshall, and sorry excuse of a coach owner we have, its going to take a miracle to get me motivated to get back there, always a Dolphin fan, but with the dismal home record I think I am selling my tickets too!
  3. I would love to see a yaker come down to Shane's special spot especially during low water levels! I would film it, pay for the trip, and provide accommodations. In Shane's spot I had them swirl underneath my little 14' jon boat and charge boat trying to catch landed fish, totally unafraid of fisherman. Now if you add some teal ducks and duck hunters to the equation all bets are off. Gators are about as brave as a little school girl dressed in a pink dress in a yard full of pit-bulls around duck hunters, don't ask why.
  4. Won't be fishing it, but I can tell you the Pahokee rocks are Hot! Be safe running!
  5. The Legend Tournaments are awesome, and the reel is equally as great, have fun and tight lines!
  6. Fishing without talking is not fishing in my book. I think its more important to turn off your depth finder when fishing shallow water and keep trolling motor use to a minimum. I do hate it though when tree catchers slam compartments shut or drop heavy objects on deck while fishing, especially on the non skid deck.
  7. The Cumara on lake Okeechobee is not strong enough, have to ride up with the trolling motor everytime they bury. The dobyn's would be a better choice. I am assuming floating frogs not swimming of course.
  8. Point is moving bait rods don't need to be as sensitive. High sticking pretty much any rod is a no-no. Secondly, Shane asked for suggestions on rods not a full on debate on Dobyn Savvy vs Cumara.
  9. If money doesn't matter then may I suggest Top of the line rod: GLoomis NRX Model NRX 853C JWR 7'1" Med-Heavy $475 Top of the line reel: Shimano Calais Digital Control Model CL200DC $650 Total Package $1125.00
  10. In Florida who needs a bass boat when you have GOLF COURSES? Nice!
  11. Shane, I have broken two Cumara's while fishing for hawg bass, both I broke while landing the fish in close. High-sticking will break cumaras pretty easily. They are great rods for the lightness and sensitivity, but not really Ugly stick tough. With that said I really like the Dobyn's Champion series, they are about the same price point and have yet to have an issue. Since snakeheads like moving baits you can get away with the Savvy series at a lower price point than the Champions. Also, take a look at the "local" rod of choice Star rods, too! They are a little heavier, but bullet proof. I like the Plasma series.
  12. Saw same pic earlier this year
  13. Nice boat, Ranger's 520 series are great fishing platforms!
  14. DVT upgraded by Zillion and Metanium MG w/drag and bearings, WOW is all I have to say!
  15. Drop shot= Med light fast action to extra fast Soft plastics= Med with a fast action Ideally you would have a setup for each, but if I were fishing soft plastics more often I would go with medium action if drop shot go with the med light as suggested before. Avids are nice, but don't turn your nose up at the Carbonlite rod series they were on sale last time I was at BPS they were on sale for $100 and they are a great rod bang for buck. Not sure if BPS carries Kistler, but they also make a nice drop shot rod. While you are try different rod/reel combination and see how they balance and feel. The Pflueger Patriarch and the Carbonlite setup will run about $300 at BPS and be out of this world light. Report back and tell us what you liked.
  16. If you want ultra finesse take a look at the Carbonlite rods at BPS and the next step up reel from Pfleuger called the Patriarch, its a super-sweet light weight outfit.
  17. No chance with all the species of fish there is to catch and techniques used to catch them. From freshwater to saltwater, there are too many options.
  18. Guess it worked, Glenn what gives?
  19. Has anyone noticed that when you type bad as in the opposite of good, it replaces it with the word mistake? Only appears to happen sometimes and on edits. Just a test, to see if I can replicate it here. My back is bad. I want to go fishing bad. That bait is a bad choice.
  20. Bring a popper, a senko, and a t-rig. Do a google map search of the area you are going to be in and try to fish small bodies of water around that area. Just about every canal, lake, pond, and even ditch has bass.
  21. I wonder if FWC can section off canals and lakes and use rotenone? They once did it up here in Palm Beach County to a small neighborhood pond and restocked it. Canals should be relatively easy since they could section off canals using floating barriers and work their way up to water control structures, same goes with small lakes, but if they are in the Glades it maybe tough, unless of course they wait for ultra low waters. Sad part is that it would kill off natives also, but nothing an aggressive restocking program could not cure. Rotenone is pretty powerful stuff and kills off fish at very low concentrations.
  22. How about 80 with a full tournament load with throttle to spare? I really should not be talking crap, I have yet to get the boat since its being picked up this weekend, and I may be to scary cat to push it since I need some valuable seat time, and don't see that happening anytime soon with my back issue.
  23. Since there are members scattered throughout the entire country is it possible to set up regional or even state get-togethers that are official? I would be willing to drive to G'ville, or something for a Southern Showdown! I will bring the Bullet in case fishing s**cks and charge members $5 towards a raffle or BTD gift certificate!
