Lost Rpms
Went fishing earlier this week and noticed I lost about 600 RPMs as I was coming out of the hole and about to trim up to run at 5500 RPMs, from then on it was a dog getting out of the hole and would max out at 4900 RPMs @ 49-50 MPH. Engine idled fine and seemed like it ran great. I first I thought my Powertech cushion lock hub slipped, but after asking my mechanic friends and dad, they said it was an combustion or fuel starvation problem. So I tested the ignition wires using jump tester, changed out the spark plugs (was about to since I was coming up on 50 hours), performed a Seafoam decarb by spiking the gas with 2-3 ounces per gallon while on the muffs, check/drained and re-primed recently replaced 10 micron fuel filter, and replaced the prop with my backup prop which usually spins at 5800-5900 RPMs @ WOT. Went down to the local C-18 canal to test. Out of the hole I was jack rabbit quick, but could only muster about 5200-5300 RPMs out of the top end. This frustrated me cause the engine was lively and reacted quickly to throttle inputs and shot out of the hole. So I ran back to the ramp and back up again when a slight miracle took place, while running WOT I felt like someone put a nitrous shot in while I wasn't looking my RPMS climbed to 5900 and my speed went up to 59! Hole shot was incredible, best since owning the boat! Can't wait to put my regular higher pitched blueprinted prop to see what she'll run. So what's your take? I think I might have had some type of obstruction that cleared and the "extra" performance came from the new plugs and decarb. Father says I could have had a bad batch of gas, but I am using the same gas with the Seafoam spike, 2-3 ounces per gallon. As a side note, I run about a full tank through my motor once to twice a month and always use fuel stabilizer. To be safe I replaced the fuel line and bulb from the deck up to the motor with the new EPA approved marine fuel hose by Trident Marine yesterday.

Bass Boat Trailer Tires - Any Reviews/opinions??
Maxxis is what most RVers rave about, they have great reviews. I have US made Marathons with no issues, but as Dwight stated the China ones have given Marathon tires a bad reputation. http://www.maxxis.com/Industrial/Trailer.aspx

Stock Market
There always a bull market somewhere at least! Short the SP with SPXU and safe havens like GLD if you feel that strongly, if you are right you'll make a killing if you are wrong you can fade into UPRO on way up.

Walleye fishing is about as exciting as deep dropping for snapper with electric reels, the art is in the pinpointing structure and pulling the bounty out of the hiding places.

Stock Market
About 80% of my securities portfolio has stopped out, bought the SPXU about 5 days ago based on signals so I am happy, but going to close it at end of day. Not sure where the market is heading and wish I had the crystal ball, but no sense in riding anything out. Really feel sorry for those institutional investors and mutual fund holders that are forced to ride it down, I'll start buying again at X% over today's stops and will have to look at the macro outlook, but a strong DOLLAR is not good for securities, precious metals index is being dragged by silver while gold is shining. Cash is not so bad now especially for future value plays, some good value buys here for those with fortitude. Anyway just wanted to rant as the trading day is coming to a close.

New Boat Choices
This is what I love about Bass Cat boats the number one promoters are their customers, so that is why they are on the top of my list if I were shopping around. Sorry about the company issue, I didn't realize they were a sole proprietorship. Nevetheless, just about everyone I have heard has a favorable opinion when it comes to customer support.

New Boat Choices
Your point is well taken, you don't have first hand knowledge of how it was broken in. Nevertheless, consider last year left over models that dealers are itching to get rid of. Glad you like the Bass Cat reviews, they are awesome boats and are owned by an very reputable company with a great reputation for customer support and that is coming from a Ranger owner Good luck in your search and post pics of your new boat when you get it.

New Boat Choices
You can lead a horse to water....comes to mind. Speaking from experience if you can purchase a used boat that has a transferable hull warranty and an existing engine warranty, what are the possible issues that merit the extra expense? Also, consider possible issues that can occur with a new boat purchase, you are not immune to "issues" simply because its new. For example, engine break in period is considered by some the "engine break period", most issues if any that are going to occur with either the trailer, electronics, etc occur shortly after purchase. Its like a new rifle it usually shoot better groups after the first XXX amount of rounds. Ask some new Skeeter owners about how those new fancy 4 stroke SHO engines are working out for them? Most don't have issues, but a few have new engines that are making oil (fuel in oil). I know quite a few fellow board and non-board members that can attest to the fact that new boats have issues too. Lastly, I can see that you can purchase a *** year old boat with an average if 15-30% savings over new with full engine warranties still intact and/or transferable hull warranty from the manufacturer. So by looking at the upper range of your budget ($35K) you can purchase a used 2008 Ranger Z21 with a 250HP Mercury Pro XS with a warranty going through 2012 for that, what can you get that is new and is even in the same ball field?

New Boat Choices
Before you buy new, make sure you can't get a sweetheart deal on a left over model from the previous year or a used model that still has a motor warranty! You'd get much more boat for the money, MUCH MORE.....did I say much more, like in feet, HP and quality. With that said in my book these are the manufactures that would be on my list if I were in a market for a new or slightly used boat 1. Bass Cat 2. Ranger, Skeeter, Triton 3. Stratos, Pheonix, Legend, Champion 4. Nitro Of course it is all dependent on the deal. You also want to make sure that you have someone reasonably near by that can service or warranty the outboard if something does go wrong. Most importantly be patient and don't jump at the first deal. Good luck in your search and may the fish gods help you.

The Economy
Here is a good way to describe the U.S. debt to someone: Imagine if you had a very attractive aunt that had very nice things (European cars, fine jewelery, huge 5k sq ft. house, extravagant vacations, maids, etc.) and only worked as a cashier at the local supermarket. One day while visiting you could not help but notice huge credit card bills from all the major creditors, local credit unions, mortgage companies and automobile finance companies stacked on her granite kitchen's counter-top. When you inquire her about it she says, "Oh darling you have so much to learn, I just make the minimum payments and sometimes a little more on time and have been doing it for years." She goes onto say "I have an excellent credit rating and have never been late!" Nevertheless, you are still apprehensive about it because even with all the minimum payments "and a little more" the numbers still don't add up. Later that day you ask your father about how his sister's lifestyle and hesitantly he spills the beans and says "for years, being the beauty that she is, she has had Chinese, Japanese, and various other foreign and local lovers that would infuse her with cash and gifts, being smart your aunt would use the cash to pay the minimum on all the bills and sometimes "a little more" with the money she makes at the local supermarket. She has for the past 42 years been carrying on like this, but recently her age has caught up to her and some of lovers have become jilted and I am afraid they may ask for some loaned money and gifts back." "Unfortunately", you dad continues, "she has duped many of her lenders into security since she actually has paid her bills on time, little do they know that she is becoming cash starved and in little time she won't even be able to make the minimum interest payments on her bills if they don't raise her credit limits, which they have done since 1969. Nevertheless, your lovely aunt can get her financial house in order is she actually lives within her means and stops spending on luxury items, vacations, and moves into a smaller house." Aunt=US Government Foreign Lovers and Local Lovers=Treasury Bill Holders (We the People and Foreign Governments) Banks and Creditors= Tax Payers (We the People) Luxury Items, Fine Cars, Jewelry, House= Various branches of government and entitlement programs Debt=What she owes to the various lenders and some lovers Deficit= Difference between what she makes and what she owes, she has a cashiers' budget, but lives like a wealthy person (Lowering the deficit means NOTHING, lower the debt does) So there you have it an explanation even us bass fisherman can understand.
