  1. Congrats to Phil for winning his 3rd Masters Its nice to see him pull through especially with his recent family issues.
  2. I have a similar situation in my community lake/canal system. After reading plenty of books and magazines, Pond Boss, it appears to me that you may have to start culling out bass and adding forage to increase your bass weight. I would think about hiring an aquatic management company to do an electo-shock survey and advise you regarding strategy.
  3. I have the 400c which is pretty good w/ the added chip detail for the Florida region. I would suggest the inland lake 400i or 400c, coastal areas, depending on primary use. here are the rest of Garmin's choices: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=161 Why not save the money and just buy the DVD on inland lakes and update your base map on your existing unit? https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1404&pvID=2691
  4. I mostly power fish to find fish or cover lots of water if the fish are spread out and active. I will finesse at times in spots I found while power fishing to see I can draw another bite out of the area.
  5. I have a Garmin 400c that I use for duck hunting coastal marshes/lake Okeechobee and use it as a backup to my Garmin 545s when boating. The little unit is awesome, I bought the G2 chip for it that I cloned for my 545s and love it. Here is the info. on your unit for different maps https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=30925#mapTab
  6. I have a JDM HS Zillion and love the thing to death, is it worth more IMO YES!! Yet, the point of diminishing returns argument is tough to beat, unlike Snoppy my freaking Zillion is dynamite with smaller lures compared to the Curado's I throw.
  7. suicidenemesis, Did you check your guide's inserts to make sure you did not have a chip or cut in them. I had a Dobyn's rod that was brand new and it had a nick on my tip guide's insert and if my thin diameter superline, can't remember if it was Samurai or Suffix, kept getting stuck and feeling hard to retrieve and upon closer inspection it was the guide insert, replace it and problem went away. If the nick is small enough for superline to cut into you may have had the same effect as snoopy described without missing the guide. Use the cotton swap test on each guide insert and see if any cotton sticks.
  8. I just bought a 76-6 for frogging and like it so far, caught a couple on it and one was from over 25 yards on the setup. I bit heavier than the GLX it replaced, but it is frogging and the GLX was overkill. Overall, nice rod, better feel than the Daiwa Light and Tough Froggin rod and not as good as my double duty Cumara, due to the slower action, but impressive especially for my aquasuperstore price of less than $60!!
  9. Try searching Gunbroker.com for similar items and see what recent auctions sold for. If its a charitable organization you can write it off
  10. New puppy=$$$$$$$ New rod/reel combo=$ Now go get your man card back and buy a GLX with a Stradic or better yet, sell the newly arrived pup before your wife gets too attached and upgrade to a Stella, heard those Mexican puppies fetch a high price.
  11. It worked on one of my iPhones when I fell in the lake the other hit saltwater and you know what happens to electronics in saltwater!! Went through 2 iPhones in a week last summer.
  12. Found this compilation of funny Bill Dance bloopers while surfing during breakfast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3312O2LzNI&feature=related The trolling motor incident, had me spewing milk through my nose ;D
  13. Tell me about it, went to my secret spot yesterday with my bud, where we can consistently catch 30-40 bass in about 2 hours and only caught 15 total, but we hooked some big'uns (2) 5-6lb and guess what.... they were SCHOOLING! Spawn is pretty much over, in most areas I fish I'm seeing plenty of used beds.
  14. Glue is, as Roadwarrior said, OVERKILL. Learn to tie your knots so that they come tight in nice neat coils when tying the uni to uni and you will be alright, if it can handle a tarpon or snook (speaking from experience) without issue it can easily handle a bass. I'm also a big fan of using a bimini twist to no-name for joining braid to mono or flouro. http://www.hatterasoutfitters.com/bimini.htm http://www.hatterasoutfitters.com/no_name_knot.htm

  16. I have had the iPhone since its *** and think the iPad is just a Netbook with better sound and graphics! I love my little Ideapad, netbook, it fits perfectly in between the iPhone and Laptop. While watching t.v. I look things up, respond to emails, and look over spreadsheets and its about $200 less, not like I would care if it was more, but for the features why really get the iPad unless you have a specific application or your just an Apple fan. Also its great when traveling and I don't want to bring my 17 inch screened laptop.
  17. I am headed to Georgia at the end of the month for a week to visit my brother and TURKEY HUNT! He has been on them and scouted for me so I hope to bag a couple of long beards, this time around. I have a new call I want to try to see if I can bring ol'tom in close. Will post pics if I bag one
  18. Congrats man, Skinny dippers are freaking the money right now!
  19. On Thursday of last week it was 71 in Sebastian area lakes.
  20. I was fishing them using 5/0 or 6/0 Gammy EWG t-rigged and using a 1/16 oz bullet weight. Would swim them back steadily and letting it drop around hole in grass. Most successful colors were houdini and gold digger, some came on white trash color.
  21. Thanks for the advice Boca, went out yesterday and fished the flats for a little bit before hitting the canal where we caught some nicer sized fish. Skinny dippers were the ticket as well as t-rigged worms. By the way your boat is basically my boats twin ;D! I have a 185vs Intracoastal with a 150 Yamaha in a similar color scheme, mine has a darker blue accent. Great boat especially in S. Florida!
  22. Love your boat! Thanks for the tip will put it to good use here in about an 1 hour or so.
  23. Boca, What did you end up buying? Also, thinking of going to the flats this Friday. Skinny diippers I assume, right?
  24. My buddy bought me some Bitter's Bait and Tackle naked shad a takeoff on the Skinny Dipper, anyone try these...input? Don't want to use them if they tear to easily since they feel to soft, may return'em
